Stopping by in August of 2023 and I'm *really glad* to have found this video. I'm brand new to the Canon EOS M and Crop Mood, and so this is exactly what I needed to help me get up to speed without a lot of deep diving. Thanks!
Thanks! Yes, my hope was to give an easy walkthrough of a simple way to edit mlv files and get started with magic lantern and mlv app that doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Thanks so much for this video. I just jumped into the EOS M / ML world and your videos have been very helpful. You did an amazing job going through your workflow this will help me a ton. Cheers.
Thanks so much for this walkthrough! I assume it's impossible to playback raw video on the EOS M, right? Is there a workaround for reviewing playback on the camera itself? Would an external HDMI recorder be the only option? I love the way EOS M footage works but I feel like on-site playback is important in my workflow. Maybe it's just meant to be a more film-like experience. Hard to even imagine the old 35mm days when nothing could be reviewed on set...we are spoiled!
Hey buddy, thanks for another awesome video. You definitely deserve a lot more Likes and Subs! I've been mostly working in FCPX - you've inspired me to give Resolve 17 a go. I've also never tried anamorphic mode. 1080p, 2.5K RAW, and 2.8K RAW on the EOS M all give amazing results and I've never used more than these. Time to experiment... Cheers, mate!
I haven't had any luck with the 5.7 k, I always get jumps in the motion that are in the same place no matter what I convert to with MLV app. Maybe I need to use a faster write speed in ML? Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Hello, does it generate very heavy gusts? Do you need a lot of ram to move them or large hard drives? And what do you think would be ideal? 128 or 256? Thank you
H.265 10 bit 4:2:0 will it give me raw flexibility? Because I want to import to iPad without prores which is not supported , and DNG is not , so I'm left with the h264 and h265 , are these good for grading or is the raw capability lost?
Great video. Can you please help me out, when I export to DNG And a Import into this program, it is multiple DNG pics and is not one video file. What am I doing wrong?
I have a problem , after exporting mlv files there is nothing in the folder ....wtf .....it doesn't matter what codec I'm using the file is not there ...... the whole process runs without problem but after is done there is no file ...can anyone help ????
That’s what DNGs are. Your editing software specifically Davinci resolve takes the folder full of DNG files (photos) and compiles them into one video. Each photo is one frame of the video!
@@rusticagenerica Image processing is multithreaded, but yeah video encoding is single thread. I've heard some people run multiple instances of MLV App at the same time.
The challenge with Magic Lantern is that its a bit of a dead end. You have to buy a used camera, cos it does not support any new cameras, so its such a lot of work to learn, for a workflow that restricts you to using cameras which, will become dated, over time.
But everything will become dated over time, even the latest 6K cameras. In fact the cameras that you need to use for ML were essentially obsolete before ML brought them back to life

Great video Corey, you are offering an easy to understand approach to the eosm and Magic Lantern with these videos.

Thank you man. Very simple tutorial and easy to understand. It covers quite a lot. Exactly what a newbie like myself needed. Keep up the good work.
thanks for sharing your files, i was looking for some files to see by myself, and im very into the eos m, thanks a lot!
So frigging helpful! Thanks so much!
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Great vid. You also conviced me to check Davinci Resolve if it can replace FCP X
Resolve is so good! I switched a few years back from Premiere and I haven't missed it.
@@reelfilmmaking101 yep... I am changing from FCP which is simple and fast... Not sure
Your videos are so clear and helpful, thanks!

Hey need some help! I’m applying colour correction to my clip but it makes my video choppy but when I turn off the colour management my clip is fine?
do you have problems with play back in divinci?
Hello can you say me why I don’t have “presets”, I can’t find this setting. Maybe I should download another version of Magic lantern?!
Help me please, i was imported folder CinemaDNG Uncompressed in Davinci then video became blue color...

Is otofocus working when recording raw video?
I've heard that track that starts the video before. What's the name of it?
When I drag my files into da Vinci I see every single frame what I'm doing wrong? Any tips
Great video men, In mlv app when I apply any settings like LUT it didnt appear in the dng export. Do you know why ??
Same problem. You figure it out?
@@justinoff1 Yes, are you in Da vinci ?
@@jos7068 I am. I assume it's because it's raw and Davinci is only reading the raw data

Thanks! What program are you exporting your DNG files from MLV App into?
@@reelfilmmaking101 i have same issue using resolve
It's supposed to be like that. Just drag the entire folder full of DNG files into resolve and once you export it from resolve it should be good.
Is this the LA mall? Oakland zoo? Or Sausalito?
Good eye for CA! It's the Sacramento Zoo

How on Earth can MLV App be made faster, so that renders of 15 minute videos don't take 6 hours on a Ryzen 7?
Sorry 😐
@@IliaSibiryakov Please don't be sorry. It is monothreaded, thus the problem :)

I know many people that will disagree with the dead end part of your comment.
Or if you're like me I have 2 5Dmark 3's I never use and now need some small packages for secondary shots... so no. You're wrong.
