Anything involving Istvan III is simultaneously one of the most harrowingly depressing yet beautifully inspiring kind of tale out there for Warhammer - nothing but emotion, the first twist of the knife, and it shows the loyalist elements of traitor legions in all their sheer, profound glory. Thank you VOX, for giving us the last rattling breath of the loyalist exemplars of their legions.
What is it like to stand before your primarch? Every other Marine: the best feeling any living being can feel. Night lords and world eaters: it's a fuckin disappointment. We hate him
@@ludovicusbathory1715 I really liked their perspectives on their primarchs when asked and how they put a spin on it very fitting to their respective legions and cultures. If only things had been different for Primarchs like Angron or Conrad.
"A SLAAAAAVE! I am a slave Varus." The rage in those lines. I can see Angron's incensed face in my mind. As I've gotten into more of 40k mythos, this is the best version of Angron's voice out there. No one comes close. The gravely, low growl that is delivered here is perfect. He's equal parts peerless gene sire and enraged, guttural beast.
I agree. The official black library renditions for Angron are so weird. He sounds more like a snickering wretch than a conqueror in agony. Starscream instead of Megatron. The black library voice actors do a good job on some characters but not others. The Night Lords omnibus with Talos and his gang is a good example for amazing voice acting tho not so much Angron in Betrayer for example. This guy nails it tho - the growling, hurting ursine beast that is Angron. Hell yeah!
Oh my gosh man. I have listened to this story at least a hundred times, and i still get new insights on the story telling. When angron comes for varus and asks him "do you have something to tell me?" Varus assumes that the primarch heard his outcry. But when varus starts to ask why, asking why he would be betrayed, Angron gets annoyed and silences him. Like he's specifically looking for one thing from him and is irritated he didnt get it. But then Varus says it. The thing he wanted to hear from all the others, who wasted their last breaths asking useless questions. Getting the courage to finally speak up and speak his true mind. Angron gave Varus approval, because at that moment, he became a true son to Angron. He HATED him, just as Angron hated his own father. Thats why he did all he had done to his legion. To show them why he had to betray the emperor. To turn them into the rabid dogs the emperor turned angron into. This story, cry havok. It is truly one of the best things ive ever had the privelage to experience.
this is why i love loyalist world eaters and truly does show what a tragedy the nails where to Angron, could only imagine a timeline where Angron was found earlier
Just, damn...I wasn't expecting a World Eaters story to be so emotionally gripping. Like, I knew what I was getting into with the Lamenters video but this was almost just as moving. I think the saddest thing is that due to what was going to come further down the line, Verus and his men dying on Isstvan 3 was probably the best thing that could have happened to them. Excellent work once more, Vox, and well worth the wait
Oh Angron... I know how his role was to be the empath of his brother Primarchs. How he was to have, figuratively, a heart so large that it would've made Vulcan's seem small in comparison. And then his his mind, his heart, his very soul... was mutilated... How can anyone look upon the Red Angel and not feel sorrow? Sorrow for what could have been. What should have been...
Angron scorning the World Eaters for not standing up to him but also murdering Centurion Mago and his brothers for standing up to him is one of those little grating things that makes him one of my least favorite primarchs.
What people fail to understand about Angron is HOW he was before the nails he acutally HAD a father figure who fought along side him in the arena of Nuceria and as sad as unfair as that world his first kill when he got the nails was said father a gladiator just like Angron's brother and sisters. MANY of the others were able to keep their human fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters even their soldiers Angron had some of those things but wasn't allowed to keep them leaving him with NOTHING but the nails.
The ending was beautiful in a way. It made me recall the painfully bad relationship I have with my father. It also reminded me of how that compels me to strive to be a worthy father to my children. Bravo on a story well told.
God those last ten minutes. Truly enrapturing. The pain and the emotion. The sadness in Varrus. The loss in Angron’s. The music drifting off then Angron begins to tell Varrus of his own betrayal and his disappointment in the lack of resistance of the nails
25:32 I listened to these last 5 minutes over and over. It's sooooo good. I can totally understand Angron and yet I also can understand the loyalists. If only they had tried to learn more about their Primarch instead of following him without question. At least Kharn stood up to him somewhat, but even he couldn't completely do it. Blind loyalty and obediency are never good.
This story is beautifully done, the rage you can feel from the Warhounds as they fight their brothers in a desperate battle for survival. The pain and heartbreak of The Red Angel as he recalls his path to glory and freedom against his oppressors. It truly does pull at one's emotions for both traitor and Loyalist forces.
This reminds me of another story about Angron I’m having trouble finding again. I don’t remember if it was official or fan-made. It was about the Emperor confiding in a Custodes that he intentionally led Angron to hate him, as a means to prolong Angron’s life. It was presented that, basically, the Nails were in too deep, and the Emperor hadn’t the means at the time to safely remove them. But he wagered he might later. The Emperor was very confident that if he took away Angron’s motivation-the protection of his gladiators and hated of the Riders-by intervening in that battle, his son’s anger and bloodlust would subside, and his empathic tendencies would take over. And as such, the nails would multiply in their toll on his mind, furious that Angron no longer did as they wanted. And so the Emperor gave Angron a new target for his hatred: himself, if only as a means to buy time to try and fix things later. The Emperor compared what the nails had transformed Angron into to a shark; to a predator that would die if it stopped moving, stopped hunting, stopped fixating on a target. Does this ring a bell for anyone else here, lol?
Brother-Captain...this piece you've breathed life into...The despair, the rage, the anguish of the betrayed loyal World Eaters...it is a kind of perfection I've longed to hear told and for this, I thank you! They were a legion cursed by fate with a Primarch they tried so hard to please. This narration encapsulates that rage and anguish flawlessly. The relentless pain of the Nails, the will needed to keep them at bay, the question every one of the loyalists that stood upon the scorched ground of Isitivan III...You bring glory to our beloved lore Brother-Captain and for this, WE SALUTE YOU!!!! FOR THE BROKEN PRIMARCH AND WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN! FOR THE LOYAL SONS OF THE EMPEROR! AVE IMPERATOR!!!!
Absolutely fantastic work! It's pieces like this that cause my admiration for Angrons torment as a truly broken son, to grow. In the brief moment he speaks you can truly feel his sadness over the dishonor he feels at being alive. Very well done indeed.
The Istvan story I’ve always wanted is one of shifting perspective. What did the Emperor’s children think when he heard one of their captains telling them to seek shelter, did they gain an epiphany about the divisions in the legion? What did the World Eater think when just moments away, locking eyes with a human rebel in an underground bunker on Istvan 3 did the shockwaves of the first virus bombs shook the ground above him? What did the Death Guard think when his brothers in the warrior lodge found his loyalty to the Primarch wanting, an instant before his body is consumed by the life eater virus? What ran through the mind of the Son of Horus as he heard his father, the War Master, betrayed the Emperor? Personal conflicts and mental breakdowns are why I’m here.
Back in 3rd edition and I was 14 years old my second army was a World Eater army just because of the snippets of lore surrounding Angron started to grow. To be a Legion of lost primal savages they have one of the saddest stories ever.
After listening to "angron: slave of nuceria" and after hearing angron himself in this story say "a true son of mine would defy their father and spit in his face against defilement" which made me realize that although mago and his retinue that defied the production of the nails died horribly unmatched were his true sons
My absolute favourite story. I listen to this at least once or twice a week. I am in the process of making a mini diorama with Varus and Angron because of it 😅
It's hard to not take this as canon, it makes perfect sense why he hated his legion. Angron wanted his legion to stand up to him almost like how kharn did
And even this more fleshed out version of Angron, with all the emotion and great acting, he still comes over like a massive failure at heart. A Primarch too weak to see beyond his self to recognise his purpose.

Thankyou for the support and amazing message. Very well put my friend
What is it like to stand before your primarch?
Every other Marine: the best feeling any living being can feel.
Night lords and world eaters: it's a fuckin disappointment. We hate him
Dont forget the iron warrior's plenty could not stand their father and his impossible standards.
It is truly one of the best things ive ever had the privelage to experience.
that's very deep
this is why i love loyalist world eaters and truly does show what a tragedy the nails where to Angron, could only imagine a timeline where Angron was found earlier
Poor Angron, running away from slavery he ran right into the willing arms of Khorn to be a slave all over again.
I really felt Angron at the end. It’s like yea he’s a traitor and you can argue that he’s still a slave to Khorne but in this moment you just get it
You could even argue that he considers the power khorne gives him the only appreciation he's ever gotten.
The passion in angron’s voice , the pain , the rage , this is a masterpiece
Thankyou Jose! Glad you enjoyed the performance my friend!
"Tick..... Tick... TICK! I let the Boltgun speak for me." I love this response and the brimming breathless Hatred in the Narration.
The utter hatred in Angron’s voice when he called his legion by their original name, honestly the most underrated moment in the story
Many thanks once again Wolf. I agree that this was the best for Verus's squad to go down fighting in the name of the Emperor and Brotherhood
World Eaters are the ultimately "daddy issues" faction. Probably why I relate to them so much 😂
Oh Angron...
Love the voice actors work.
Thankyou so much!
I want these war hounds to live. He lost his arm but doesn't remember losing it! Chills!
The end of this dialogue was so beautiful.
The ending was beautiful in a way. It made me recall the painfully bad relationship I have with my father. It also reminded me of how that compels me to strive to be a worthy father to my children. Bravo on a story well told.
Damn this is perfect, I have rarely seen a representation so perfect of the tragedy of the World Eaters and Angron, this is heartbreaking
This makes my hair stand up. Chilling and I want and need more.
Man that hit hard, it’s easy to forget what the betrayed loyalist marines went through
That was just beautiful
Not long left, definitely getting some fights in before this, we can’t leave Khorne wanting
That ENDING man, absolutely perfect
Wow! The use of music in this one is exquisite!
Just 11 hours to go until this new epic addition!
This is assuredly going to be EPIC!
I love your work! Don't know how many times I've listened to this. P.S. Should of sent this sooner. 😅
@@roguechieftain233 thankyou for the continued support! I have another video hopefully dropping this weekend that you may like! Vox
I am in the process of making a mini diorama with Varus and Angron because of it 😅
I'd love to see it! Make sure to take some photos when it's done!
As someone who has always had a troubled relationship with his father, this completely represents my love for the world eaters
It's hard to not take this as canon, it makes perfect sense why he hated his legion. Angron wanted his legion to stand up to him almost like how kharn did
Khorne cares not where the abuse comes from
Why am moved so much by Angron!?!? I did expect to have that last line got me....
And even this more fleshed out version of Angron, with all the emotion and great acting, he still comes over like a massive failure at heart. A Primarch too weak to see beyond his self to recognise his purpose.
A work of art! No, more than that. A masterpiece.
Can't believe I discovered 40k only a few months ago
I've always loved fantasy, Star Wars (Not current canon), Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, Starcraft, Warhammer Fantasy, Runeterra, Westeros and so on
But 40k is definitely, by far my favorite and its not even close
Angron has one of the most interesting stories, what a shame he was made a Demon and what a shame he had the butchers nails implanted, hope somehow, he gets reverted to what he should have been, by the Emperor, although it is utterly extreamly unlikely.
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard 11/10
Great one. Awesome job as usual. Would love to see a story of the warhounds wiping out the last thunder warriors.
Ooooo that would be 👍
The fight to the top,
the struggle to secure the win,
the shock of betrayal.
What story is this where can I read it in which book does the warhounds fight custodies,,the only one iv listened to is in the audiobook outcast dead the one with the astropath Kai zulane,is there another ????
@@christianwarrior3169 from the lore I have read. The surviving thunder warriors(not custodes) where organizing and trying to make a cure for themselves. The warhounds were dispatched to wipe them out. Thunder warriors definitely killed more warhounds than vice versa.
This Angron sounds exactly like how I imagined.
Also
The question asked to
6:25 Ultramarines
13:13 White Scars
20:14 Blood Angels (I can just imagine that after this part it just goes from sunshine over a scorched battlefield with the blood angel asking him that question back with a raised eyebrow and we skip back to that dark staircase area and it's just the silhouette of pure murder itself and two scornful eyes.)
Thankyou so much for the message! Glad I could do the angriest of boys justice in your eyes
@@AVoxintheVoid Stay hydrated and guard the angry voice well dude! Well done!
Still one of my favorite audios of yours. I'm a hard-core alpha legion player but u made a fan and collector of horus heresy world eaters . Goddammit your so good at these videos ....I wanna rip of my shirt and swing my barbell around and scream!!!!!!!!!!!
An amazing message to read my friend! If you haven't listened to "silent night" on the channel that features the alpha legion 🤘
Amazing story, incredible music, breathtaking reading. This is by far the best video about warhammer 30k. Thank you so much for your work here.
Thankyou for the amazing words of support my friend 🙏
I get goosebumps from this short story every time I listen, the emotion of the characters makes me feel in the moment
Since this came out I think I've listened to this over 100 times it's goin to be hard to top this it's the personification of being a world eater
excellent piece of work. really brings the story to life.
Fricking AWESOME!!!! Love it love it LOVE IT!!
They gave themselves over to the implantation of the nails to be closer to their primarch. Believing him to be better than a high-rider. Perhaps the sergeant's last words gave Angron pause. A moment of doubt. A moment, before it was washed away by the nails.
I love the final loyalist in a traitor legion perspective. You always have great stuff, thank you so much ❤️
More World Eaters please man. Your rendition of them is great. Someething with Kharn for Betrayer would be great. Maybe the scene of him pulping Erebus
Have you heard my version of 'Wrath of Kharn?'
@@AVoxintheVoid Yes and its one of the reasons for my asking for more :D
If there is ever a movie made on 40k, I hope you get to voice a World Eater. Talk about contagious rage.
I would be honoured to lend my rage to an official project one day!
Man you have no idea how excited I am to listen to this
Let me know what you thought!
@@AVoxintheVoid “come you worthless shit eating sons of swine!!” Was an absolute banger! But for real, I love it. I’m sending it to my brother. Very articulate & interesting script. It holds your attention very well. You have a real talent and I’m glad you have so much content
This is one of the best 40k short stories I’ve heard. Thanks!
Amen. A true son of any father like myself knows it is most important to be independent and love ones own courage and the rule of right and wrong we all feel and know to do what's right especially when I'm(father) wrong, if you truly believe in what I have taught you think for yourself. Always
This was a masterpiece couldn’t have been better you guys are the BEST
Angron is perfectly depicted here couldnt ask for more
Many thanks Francis!
A loyalist World Eater is probably the scariest thing in 40K.
I have to say, you guys always find a cool new angle to tell a story in the 40k universe. It makes my mind wonder about all the possibilities of further stories.
still my favorite piece of 30k audio
The rage and passion put into this was utterly amazing
He cuts the link and I know I will never speak to him again...dude the way you voice this shit is amazing...the way you lead it to the climax is just perfection 👌 So full of fkn sadness/emotion lmao I've been listening over and over to each of these videos at work and its just great. None of it gets old. Ya miss things sometimes and its almost a whole new story when you find it lol
That ending 😭😤😤😩
Literally the best media I have consumed on Warhammer. I use this to intro some of my friends to the setting, and I cant say how many times I've listened to it now.
Man, same. One of the best 40k stories I've ever heard
Still slaps. Thank you for this masterpiece for my favorite legion. Ive used it to bring many into the universe/hobby.
Love your content - watched a couple of the World Eaters videos and love every one of them. Cheers!
Always wanted to hear what a loyalist world eaters view was. I was not disappointed.
Omw... Omw... Your work is awesome. But this was next level. Man, you just put a very manly tear on my eye.
This story is excellent and your narration is fantastic. Its neither over the top, nor cringe. I have no idea how you do it. Your narration tells me exactly what's going only clearly while also coloured by the correct emotion. I am immersed with Verus as he faces Angron. Be proud. For you are clearly one of the best remembrancers of the Emperors RUclips.
Absolutely beautiful once again. The tortured voices, the feeling, the way you make a character that only has 5 lines feel ALIVE. I loved it.
Also, the line about fingers and shell casings was *chef's kiss*
Many thanks chaotic voices. It was an absolute pleasure narrating this wonderful piece of writing. I'm so lucky to have worked with such talented writers.
The last part of the video with Angron is PEAK 25:34. I come back every once in a while just to listen to how good it is. I love it!!!
Hehehe!!! Love it Vox!❤ Another perfect performance!
Wow amazing story
Great story of loyalist warhounds, excellent ending, excellent voice acting
The last sentence was a tear maker, absolutely beautiful voice and pashion
This is awesome, I've always found the betrayal of Istvann III really overlooked compared to V. Plus I really liked the thought that not all the traitor legions turned and willing to betray the Imperium.
This was pure and raw, as it should be! I still feel my vains pumping blood in anger. Fantastic work
Masterful narration. Excellent story. Would love to listen to more Space Marines stories of the HHeresy betrayals.
Some of these stories just hit so damn hard. Wonderfully crafted video as always.
I just woke up and now I'm listening to this today's a good day ,iv already finished all the horus heresy audiobooks and siege of terra audiobooks I can't get enhalf of the horus heresy *AWESOME WORK VOX IN THE VOID U ARE A LEGEND*
bravo. utterly. magnificent.
I can really feel the emotion in this one. And it pairs so well with the choice of music in the background.
