i've seen randy a few times, always amazing ! I worked with a guy who was Randy's neighbor when he was a kid. He was telling me that back then he would cranked his amps playing hendrix all day long
surprisingly though the guitar that Randy's playing here, My dad originally built it for himself starting with the black evan pickups, to the floyd Rose 2 bridge, to the floyd Rose locking nut, to the black Grover tuners, to the right handed neck on a left handed strat body.
Randy Hansen was a wild man in concert. When he played in K.C. he jumped on our bar table, the table collapsed under him, he fell to his knees and continued playing on the floor. We then lifted him into the air, onto the stage, and still he never missed a note. It was great fun. Randy is a great performer--not just an impersonator.
Randy is outstanding as a Hendrix copy. He does it so very well. But he knows and will openly admit as will many of us, there was only one Jimi. I have vast respect for you Randy,,, Rock on my brother... You help to keep the legacy and legend alive... Jimi smiles on you Randy.
But you couldn't just walk up to Jimi and talk to him man, Randy is so down to earth and mellow you can just walk right up to him and say hey! Randy took me to his house and got me really stoned too ahah!
Randy is not only a top notch guitarist but he's one of the nicest and coolest people you'll ever meet. He wants nothing more than to put on an awesome show for the fans. Being that he does the Jimi tribute, it is only natural he should wear the appropriate outfits. Would jeans and a Tshirt be more appropriate?
You're completely correct, gibsongold1970. My typo -- missed it by a letter! The "e" has been changed to a "d." Voodoo "Chile" is of course a completely different song from the same Electric Ladyland album. It's bad enough that I don't keep a close enough watch on my own video uploads to have caught something this obvious by now, but it also reveals a lot about the attentiveness of RUclipsrs in general that it took this long for someone to mention this. We should all hang our heads in shame!
@swampdawg1000 The only person who covered V.C., as well as this cat, was Stevie Ray and notice how Randy dedicated it to him. As far as tribute bands bands go, Randy Hansen not only has his tone dialed in perfectly, but he also emulates Jimi's voice, motions, speaking pattern and crowd interaction, damn near flawlessly. I've got a feeling that if Jimi Hendrix had been in the room, he would have been impressed, but would've encouraged him to use his talent to write his own music.
pickwickbowl: That's Manni van Bohr on drums -- he does look a little like the late Mitch Mitchell. Also featured is Horst Stachelhaus on bass, who sadly died about five years after this was filmed.
Hendrix may have been ambidextrous, too. He wrote with his right hand, and he was able to play right-handed guitars without restringing in addition to left-handed guitars.
Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Randy Hansen. A league of their own, a planet above, a slow train a coming going to roll right down that track and crush you, then blow you away. RIP Stratocaster master, I think they raided your closet and learned to play your tunes. Seeeeee ya in the next world but I might be late.
Randys a bad man. i met him "backstage" at a show at the aqua barn, in Renton. we smoked a big ol tater, and he started the show, and killed! Johnny Rusk, an Elvis tribute, was to follow. Johnny could, or would not follow Randy. dont blame him! by the way, Randy is very cool.
It always amuses me on RUclips that no matter how outstanding a musician may be there's always a handful of clueless losers who'll chime in with the predictable "not so great / I've seen better / I could do better" bullshit! Yeah, sure, guys. Show us your attempt to do better. We could all use the laughs.
Jimi Hendrix is Randy Hansen is What happened when Hendrix fake his death in the 70,s. And they they wonder why is Randy Hendrix play guitar right - handed. Because Hendrix was right- hand.

Randy is the Voodoo Child, best cover artist for Jimi, and there are quite a few.

@gibsongold1970 Jimi himself wrote voodoo chile sometimes or maybe his management it did not come from nobody it came from the experience
Have you seen his other videos? He's pretty much spot on, much better than this video. Also, I think he does have some of his own stuff.
@Goodwith2005 hahahaha,u made me laugh,hilarious!!! hahahahahahahaha,

why cant he just make his own music instead of living a life devoted to impersonating someone who you cant impersonate??
Awesome
That's one bad cat right there !!
