Sonic 4 is so mid, it’s not even sonic 4 it’s just a crappy 2D modern sonic game, the real sonic 4 is sonic mania.

Sonic the hedgehog 4 is not the 4th instalment in the 2D sonic series, the 4th instalment is sonic mania because of the fact that sonic 4 just reuses stages & the physics suck, & is not 16 bit and went against being a pixelated game (unlike Mega Man 9 after the franchises 20th anniversary)
Sonic 3 is the fourth because of Sonic CD coming after Sonic 1

I played the demo when I was a kid almost 10 years ago, and finally got to play it last year. I really like Episode II.
the thing is that dimps made a mobile sonic game but then sega sold the game as the direct sequel to sonic 3 & knuckles and ported ep 1 to multiple platforms so it was obvious that people would hate the game. And at the time of its release, episode 2 didn't sold as well as episode 1 because the ''revival era'' of classic characters was already over and episode 2 was trying to be more original but fans and critics just didn't like the game and then sega thought it was better if they never made a episode 3.
Sonic 4 is like filler on anime, people would enjoy the filler more if they knew it was unnecessary to the story and could skip it to what really matters which would eventually become sonic mania
These games are so weird looking at it now, because the title suggest that it’s a direct sequel to the classic games but looks and acts like a modern game. Plus, due to the fact that there is no episode three (which means that this is unfinished) these games are most likely not Canon.

The only difference with episode 1 in the mobile version is act 2 of casino street
AND act 2 of lost labyrinth. Both these acts were present in the beta of sonic 4 but dimps changed it for consoles and pc.
Also the mobile version has different UI, gyro controls and better graphics

I didn't have any trouble controlling sonic or tails at all, the music is amazing (oil desert is my fave), the zones were fun, the special stages are fun yet hard as the progress, overall a solid game duology 9/10
