Your house is looking great. On your windows, ( which I love) can I suggest getting a window mop and squeegee and using vinegar/dawn dish soap solution. I used to contract new home development cleaning. Window mop/squeegee were last before final vacuum/mopping, it cuts time and usually grease film. Your views are worth the effort to me. also, stained wood is so much easier to keep clean and looks amazing for decades. Great Job you guys!!!

Yay on finally getting the sanding finished. Our house is fine. We got power back. Our son in laws sister's house had a pine fall on it. Insurance came already and totaled the house. They have to move out with 4 kids. They will likely be out for a year before they rebuild it. Stressful for sure. Hubby, my 91 year old mom and i left sunday am for Missouri to my mom's farm. Good thing we did so people could stay at our house because of our whole house generator. What a God send it has been. Then we got power back in less than a day. I was wondering about y’all in the storm. I live in Baytown, and there are still a lot of people without power here too. Somehow, by the grace of God, my power came back on Monday afternoon. I think I’m on the same grid as the hospital here. Hope y’all get it back asap, glad you didn’t have damage.
Hopefully everyone that was affected by the hurricane is recovering ok. We get a lot of tornadoes in Georgia, our power goes off just about every-time it storms, we recently invested in a whole house generator, if the power goes out, it comes on within 3 minutes and everything works like normal. They are pricey but depending how often you lose Power and how long, it can be well worth it! It gives us peace of mind. It’s set up to run off our natural gas from the house.
I would have moved in long ago. The house will need cleaning the whole time any way and most items on the list can be knocked out in a day, the others right after. Delaying the inevitable.
a note about the hot water.... we keep ours higher than "recommended", also. HOWEVER, be sure to understand that if someone flushes a toilet, and the toilet uses cold water, there will be a large reduction in the cold water portion for anyone who is showering - and that could end up being a burn if you have the hot water too high. oddly, in our current house, i believe someone piped the hot water to the toilets. as crazy as it sounds, the water in the toilet never gets "hot" bcz it never runs long enough. but the great thing is that we no longer have to worry about getting burned in the shower if we accidentally flush when someone is showering. instead, the person showering gets a little colder water, but isn't horrible. i'm so glad you all made it through the storm without big damage!!!
Stain the cabinets and when you get tired of them, paint them! Don’t let the cabinet builder use MDF board or lumber core especially if you stain them!
As a grandparent, it is always nice to visit the grandchildren but having them live our home indefinitely would be tough. 🤣 I'm sure their grandparents don't mind though.
It would be tough on anyone going from living as a family of two to a family of seven with a dog! My parents have been a God send to us and we could never repay them for their kindness!
Time 31:40 of video. You're idea of re-glueing the tile sounds good. because of it's location I definitely would not remove it. Once glued you can buy colored silicone grout in caulking tubes. Run a bead along any slight crack ( common in corners) and remove excess with finger. As long as all cracks and gaps are filled you should be good not allowing water to get behind tile. Grout is NOT waterproof. It keeps water out as you shower then drys between showers. If you let water run against grout for excessive time it would start to leak out back. That is why cement board is used today. It would also dry. Excessive water behind tile would eventually release tile from wall. Also, grout sealers keep grout clean but do NOT waterproof. That is why it is important to keep ALL gaps and cracks filled.
Hey y'all, glad y'all are safe from Beryl. ❤. Alecia I love your idea of "stain" for the cabinets instead of grey paint because it will bring out the beautiful wood trim that you've been sanding all this time. Bless your heart! 🥰
I was wondering if the Hurricane was going to cause you any trouble. I guess I just wasnt sure about where you were, so i guess I know now. Glad your all okay & safe. Hope the family is also. I know the Cutting Edge Trailer will be a welcome sight to many that may need the help. Work hard, stay safe helping your neighbors. Great Job yall you will get in your house soon. Yes, they can. These are things that have to be done and that I would like to be be done. Getting things done with three kiddos coming behind you undoing everything makes it a challange, so that's why I added some of these things to our list! Otherwise, they may never get done!
Girl, you are just like my wife. Too many little things on your list. Fix the move in stuff after you move in. It took my wife about a month to make her mind up on the kitchen cabinets. She would change everything daily. But it will get done. Good job. And you do not have a generator. I am a RVer and have 3 of them.
Yes, I add everything that is easier to get done before the kids and dog get there to my list! Because after they move in, the list will come to a screeching halt!
Years ago, we built our house. It was actually cheaper to get custom cabinets built than to get Lowe's or Home Depot. That was kitchen, 2 and 1/2 baths and 2 built in entertainment centers and a laundry room. Also 2 linen closets
Yippy ...shop vac time. You both have more Patience than I do, thats for sure. Its good you guys are laughing cuz like I said, patience is not my friend 😂LOL ps So glad you all are fine and Bless you for bringing some help and hope to your community. 🙏
Those are actually floor tiles on the shower wall and don’t look like there is a really big grout line there and yes moister will get behind the upper tile in the shower just remeber green board is used for moist areas I’m sure Kevin knows that those tiles will still work but those joints should have been a 1/4 inch apart and they are not
Isn’t that always the way these projects go! Three trips to the orange and or blue store and you will be half way there! 😂 We also hired a cleaning lady to do a one time deep clean. It was money well spent! But you are probably past that point!
You can get your fuse box wired to take a generator so when the power goes out you’ll still have it let me tell you that’s a game changer especially if it goes out often
It amazes me that the countless times we have said it on videos you still don't hear it! cabinets are 6-8 weeks waiting time, until we have cabinets the kitchen is done!
It’s your house 🏠 take your time and go slow. A lot of repairs you guys are making is because of unqualified contractors. Don’t let the Na sayers upset you. Continue being a great couple with your wonderful in-laws and children . Looking forward to the next chapter.
I'm not a plumber but have some plumbing experience. Your final hot water problem was due to the design of your cartridge. They are designed as a PRESSURE BALANCE control. As you adjust your handle the cartridge balances the flow from hot and cold water based on the handle position. When you tested it with only the hot water supply turned on there was no cold water to balance the pressure (0 psi ) so the control balanced the hot water with pressure with 0 psi, or no flow. Bottom line, this type of control needs both hot and cold water ON in order to work.
@@DonComoletti All I did was take the cartridge back out and pulled the hot water shut off out. Reassembled it all, then using only the hot water turned it on and only hot water came out!
It would have made more sense If that was why it worked or didn't work! I just never turned the cold side back on until I proved that I was finally getting hot there!
Whats not functional about it? We have a sink with running water, refrigerator, dishwasher, and a stove! The only thing we don't have is cabinets. When did having cabinets be a requirement to live in a house! Where do you live that you let someone decide what you have to have to occupy a home?
Please please. Paint your cabinets off white……. will really brighten the room and match your backsplash and counter tops. Wish you would hire a good cabinet person and order the cabinets in that color. They are your most used and the biggest highlight of your entire living area. Trained cabinetry people are worth every penny. Plus with a warranty you have added protection. Also, you constantly refer to your kids getting things dirty. Taking shoes off and washing hands is not hard and they are probably already doing this….. you guys are great parents and not telling you how to parent…… just give your kids more credit for keeping things “nice in the new house.”
Alecia…doesn’t the Project Manager just states what needs to be done and then oversees the project?…So…DELEGATE the sanding!!!…I just shake my head knowing that we’ll eventually find you in the fetal position with a sander welded to your hand!😂😂😂
Can I please meet the clowns that worked on your house? 😂😂😂😂 WTF!!!!!!! They were so good, I'm pretty sure Ashton Kutcher is about to jump out in the next video. We are being pranked, right?

Our videos are for entertainment, there doesn't have to be an answer, a reason or a conclusion to anything! Either you like hanging out with us our you don't! We addressed the time frame in a past video, youtube time and real time are two different things! We often times film 4 videos a week but it will take you 2 weeks to see it on RUclips! @PavingNewPaths I understand your vlogs are being made for our entertainment and in many cases were very entertaining. But now the vlogs, getting the house ready for move in feel to be getting stretched out a bit or maybe even a bit like watching grass grow. How long does it take to sand walls?!? Your trips and purchases for tools from the orange and blue store are cool....and maybe would be even more entertaining if we actually saw them being used. At least when Phil was filmed, he occasionally moved or gave us a laugh!
There isn't ANYTHING on those lists that would prohibit y'all from moving in. Alisha is just scared and doesnt want the responsibility that comes with a real home.

I'm glad to see that you didn't get damage from the storm. Hope your power gets restored soon.
Thank you! Power was restored yesterday!
I love how folks beg for hardwood floors (or no carpet in RV) then plop rugs down all over. I am not judging, I have the same thoughs on floors.
It's so true!
Do all of the sanding before anything else.. that seems to be the bottom of the barrel with the dust it makes.
The sanding is done!
@@PavingNewPaths YAY!!! 🎉
I would have moved in long ago. The house will need cleaning the whole time any way and most items on the list can be knocked out in a day, the others right after. Delaying the inevitable.
Did you ever think there might be more going on in our lives than just moving into this house?
a note about the hot water.... we keep ours higher than "recommended", also.
Oh, thank you for that advice! We wouldn't have thought about it! Maybe I can have Kevin run our toilet with the hot water line, too! Ha!
Good Morning
Yall are the best,
Glad you are all ok
Thank you so much!
Hope your power is on by now. Great video. Can’t wait to see you moved in.
It is, thanks! We are so close!
Stain the cabinets and when you get tired of them, paint them! Don’t let the cabinet builder use MDF board or lumber core especially if you stain them!
I’ve found with sanding it’s best to vacuum and not sweep because that just spreads
it every where.
@@PavingNewPaths Exactly! Thank God for family!
I love watching you guys. I have learned some things along with you. And wow to go out and help your town is awesome. Good job guys!
We’ve had painted cabinets and trim and both things stained and will now always choose stained. That’s our experience.
Thank you for sharing your experience since you've had both!
Stain wood goes with everything
STAIN STAIN STAIN
Go with stain!!! Painted cabinets and furniture are last year's popular thing. Stained cabinets are, thankfully, back and DO last a lot longer!
You need to get a Gen start out side for when the power goes out for the house
It would be nice to have... but we should probably get cabinets first!
Glad your entire family was alright.
Thank you! We are blessed!
I would paint the cabinets you need some contrast, the paint they use today is very durable
Next Item for the business: A dump trailer for grabbing limbs/trees and such from the grounds.
I could use that today with the job I'm doing!
It looks like a great job and I know you will whip it into shape. Its a shame you cant snap your RUclips fingers. Ha Ha ! Be safe see ya in the next one! ❤
All those things in the master bedroom can be done after moving in , I've never heard of anybody not moving in because of things like that
Yes, they can. These are things that have to be done and that I would like to be be done. Getting things done with three kiddos coming behind you undoing everything makes it a challange, so that's why I added some of these things to our list! Otherwise, they may never get done!
Glad you made it through the hurricane.
Thank you!
Our quote from a local cabinet maker is much cheaper than the big stores! And they are built to our needs and space, not mass produced dimensions
Looks awesome. Much progress.
Yippy ...shop vac time. You both have more Patience than I do, thats for sure. Its good you guys are laughing cuz like I said, patience is not my friend 😂LOL ps So glad you all are fine and Bless you for bringing some help and hope to your community. 🙏
You all are amazing! Doing a great job! I vote for staining the cabinets.
Those are actually floor tiles on the shower wall and don’t look like there is a really big grout line there and yes moister will get behind the upper tile in the shower just remeber green board is used for moist areas I’m sure Kevin knows that those tiles will still work but those joints should have been a 1/4 inch apart and they are not
Sills😊
Isn’t that always the way these projects go! Three trips to the orange and or blue store and you will be half way there! 😂 We also hired a cleaning lady to do a one time deep clean. It was money well spent! But you are probably past that point!
You can get your fuse box wired to take a generator so when the power goes out you’ll still have it let me tell you that’s a game changer especially if it goes out often
That would be awesome.... But maybe we should get cabinets first then we can start upgrading the rest of the house!
@@PavingNewPaths oh yes for sure I was just stating for later ideas cabinet are more important I agree
Holy decisions !!! Most of those things are cosmetic and not a requirement. How about a kitchen !! And dive into sanding.
It amazes me that the countless times we have said it on videos you still don't hear it! cabinets are 6-8 weeks waiting time, until we have cabinets the kitchen is done!
Sounds like you just need to go shopping for stuff and move in! Get some help with the initial cleaning and just do it!
It’s your house 🏠 take your time and go slow. A lot of repairs you guys are making is because of unqualified contractors. Don’t let the Na sayers upset you. Continue being a great couple with your wonderful in-laws and children . Looking forward to the next chapter.
I would not stain the cabinets. I would paint them to paint they use nowadays is so durable. You need some contrast in the house.
I think you can pull down the cover on that bathroom fan and unplug it
I'm not a plumber but have some plumbing experience.
It worked just fine the second time with only hot water on?
I thought you said that they second time you had put everything back together.
@@DonComoletti All I did was take the cartridge back out and pulled the hot water shut off out. Reassembled it all, then using only the hot water turned it on and only hot water came out!
I stand corrected. My hope was to help out. Keep up the great video.
It would have made more sense If that was why it worked or didn't work! I just never turned the cold side back on until I proved that I was finally getting hot there!
Can you, in Texas, legally occupy a residence without a functioning kitchen?
Whats not functional about it? We have a sink with running water, refrigerator, dishwasher, and a stove! The only thing we don't have is cabinets. When did having cabinets be a requirement to live in a house! Where do you live that you let someone decide what you have to have to occupy a home?
Where's the stove? I guess I've missed something. I'll just move along.
@@ronstacy6054The stove is where it has been since we had all the appliances delivered! You also don't have to have one to live in a home!
Stain! I’d go with stain
We are leaning that way!
God Bless
Stain everything. I hate painted wood. It chips it gets dirty and shows if painted. And I like to see the grain of the wood.
Need a nice generator and your own gas tank for your business so you always have gas
In the future maybe!
Stain don’t paint
Alecia…doesn’t the Project Manager just states what needs to be done and then oversees the project?…So…DELEGATE the sanding!!!…I just shake my head knowing that we’ll eventually find you in the fetal position with a sander welded to your hand!😂😂😂
Stain it, painting is too much maint keeping it clean.
That's what I'm leaning towards!
Borrow an RV for the kitchen. 😂 Park it in the driveway.
Trust me the kitchen we have now is better than any RV!
Stain, cost a lot more to paint.
Our cabinet place actually charges more for paint than they do to stain!
Can I please meet the clowns that worked on your house? 😂😂😂😂 WTF!!!!!!! They were so good, I'm pretty sure Ashton Kutcher is about to jump out in the next video. We are being pranked, right?
I have to watch what I say in my videos because well those clowns live in our town!
@@PavingNewPaths don't let them work on other houses, EVER!!!!
I live in east Texas and have seen lots of redneck construction and repairs. Its a whole different way of life, lol.
Hopefully move in will be accomplished before your oldest daughter's High School graduation! RUclips Content is content but How long have you owned this place and why spend time setting up exercise equipment, Fertilizing and seeding the yard ect., when the home is torn apart?😉
What would you like us to make videos about, since you're obviously not pleased with what we are making? Our videos are for entertainment, there doesn't have to be an answer, a reason or a conclusion to anything! Either you like hanging out with us our you don't! We addressed the time frame in a past video, youtube time and real time are two different things! We often times film 4 videos a week but it will take you 2 weeks to see it on RUclips! We haven't owned this house very long at all in real life, but on youtube you think it's been months!
Unfortunately, progress takes time. And rather than not put out videos, we decided to film as it goes...even when progress may be slow.
Stain
There isn't ANYTHING on those lists that would prohibit y'all from moving in. Alisha is just scared and doesnt want the responsibility that comes with a real home.
We're living in a real home now, what responsibility exactly do you think she is scared of having?
I like antiques, so I say you should stain 😊
@@PavingNewPaths No argument there- Phil and Lolo's agreed it's a real house. Big difference of having the responsibility of keeping your own house.
@@alexgnatiuk2509were 40 we have owned several houses and know what is required to own and maintain one! Maybe learn some manners when you decide to make comments on what you think about people!😊
Wow Rude much?? How dare you treat them this way. This is THEIR HOME. Not yours. Do what you want in your home. Kevin and Alecia will do what they want in theirs and personally I agree with the choices they have made. So you can just be gone from this channel. You are definitely NOT the type of person we want here
