Kansas just added 2 guards from the Transfer Portal who actually look like dynamic PLAYMAKERS who can create their own shot…..one of the two being Lawrence High School graduate ZEKE MAYO!!! Both Mayo and Kugel look like the REAL DEAL. These 2 guys are huge gets for KU, imo. They are the type of guards that KJ has been sorely missing the last two years. ROCK CHALK!!
Agreed…. and Mayo and Kugel should be the starting backcourt. If any player under Bill Self deserves to be demoted to the bench it’s Dajuan Harris. I know he started on the 22 team, but he had elite wings around him that year and the next. He was absolute garbage this whole season. Mayo doesn’t look like a shooting guard to me. He looks like a shoot first PG. His handle, his obvious skill in pick n rolls, sweet stroke, but kicks it out when he should.Mayo should start and Dajuan can come off the bench.
@@gmoney8399 Completely agree. Obviously it’s important to have a great distributor of the ball at the point. Harris does that. He’s also an excellent defender….usually. However, a great point guard also has to be a scorer as well. And that’s NOT Harris. In the 2022, NCAA Title game, there’s a reason why Self had the GREAT Remy Martin play most of the 2nd half. Why? Because Remy Martin could easily create his own shot….and finish it. Besides Remy’s HUGE and timely 4 threes he made, remember Remy’s awesome drive to the hoops and score high off the glass? That’s the type of point we could have with Mayo! We are in a battle for basketball supremacy, and Self needs to do what’s best for our beloved basketball program!
@@wiltchamberlainisthegoat13 Ya man, that’s what I’m saying. And you’re right… without Remy… we don’t win in 2022. The only thing I remember Dajuan doing in the 2nd half of that game was dribbling out of bounds with 30 seconds left for absolutely no reason lol. I appreciate Dajuan, what he’s accomplished at KU, but I do see him for the player that he is…. A good back up PG who can manage the offense successfully when surrounded by elite talent and can take care of the ball. But based off our current roster, we need a dynamic PG who can make plays, but also get a bucket all by themselves… a la Frank Mason, Devon Dotson, Devonte Graham, Sherron, Super Mario etc… I’m also not sold that he’s a good defender. I know he gets a couple steals a game, a couple deflections, but he sure had a lot of dudes hang 20+ points on his head this season. A LOT. I don’t know what the analytics say though 🤷🏽♂️ But anyways, Dajuan isn’t coming back to raise his NBA stock, he doesn’t have any stock to raise. So if he’s coming back it’s because he loves being at KU and he wants to win. And if that’s the case, he should be okay with being demoted to a backup role.
He might be final four most outstanding player if Kansas wins it all. Seems like a great tough guard. Great dribble, attack the basket, great shot rythem
Rock Chalk!!!!
Stoked to watch him in a Kansas uniform!!
Yea bill needed a guard like this
@@ohb7517 agreed. Playmaker. If everyone stays we have a hell of a roster, but not getting my hopes up…
