MY FIRST BOWL CONTEST IN A YEAR!

- Today in this video I did my first Live Bowl Contest in Newark, CA. It's been about over a year when I did my last LIVE contest. A lot of contests were cancelled because of covid but this year some has been popping up.
There were 3 age divisions and I decided to move up to the 18&over age division. I'm 12 but usually I like to challenge myself and move up to the older groups, Open Division, or Advanced Division.
Actually this is the first skate contest ever held here at Newark Skatepark. Thanks to the City of Newark for having a skate contest and hope that they'll be more. Also thanks to the Nine O' Clock Crew, Red Curbs Skateshop, and everyone else who helped make this happen.
Congratulations to Josh Rodrigues for placing 1st, I placed 2nd, and Marco for placing 3rd. Everyone was shredding and brought soo much fun and energy to the contest! Ian Tamanaha from Hawaii was shredding, it was good to see Mitch Mendes shredding it again after a big injury, Frankie from Napa always going for it and bringing the hype, Kevin Reynolds shredding that bowl and all the other skaters who also shredded that bowl! The groms were also ripping!

Imagine being that good that you don’t want to go into a 540 or kick flip Indy first run as to not discourage the others. Also being 1/2 their age. Must feel awesome! JD reminds me of a few skate friends growing up that were so much better than the rest of us, pure talent!

Skating was my life from 10 to 15. Started working when I was 14 and spent all my spare time chasing money and I didn't even realize it until looking back now that I gave up skating. If you asked me at 20 what I do for fun, I probably would have said skating and snowboarding, when in reality I hadn't skated for more then 3 hours probably between the age of 15 and 20. Transitions in life are strange, sometimes you dont even notice them until years later. I remember reading a quote that said something like the one day you and all the neighborhood kids got together and played but nobody realized that would be the last day you would all play together, its wild lol but anyway JD has inspired me at the age of 32 to get back on the board. I was always a street skater but watching jd ripping bowls and halfpipes makes me want to steer more towards vert. Thanks JD, you've literally lit the flame for me bro.
Wow that’s soo awesome that you’re back skating again! My mom always told me to enjoy everyday like it’s my last & to be soo grateful for everything that I have and not to focus on what I don’t have. Also she taught me to not take anyone for granted because they’re in my life for a reason. Skateboarding has given me many friendships from people around the world. I do these RUclips Videos to help inspire people to start skateboarding or to get back on the board. You’re insane man!!! Keep ripping it I had back surgery about 7 months ago and the doc told me that it would be best to never hop on a board again.. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and a herniated disc here I am 7 months later hopped back on my board and it feels so good! I might start skating trans because street will be to risky for me. U just motivated me tho man! Salute
