I'm reminded of how Zizek said, years ago, that the American right's embrace of obscenity and brutality (as I think he put it) had given the left an opening to position themselves as the representatives of common decency. At the time, he identified Bernie Sanders as the primary example of a left-wing politician trying to pull off this maneuver, but I feel like the success of the "weird" meme may be inspiring others to go for a similar approach.
Clinton had a few zingers but was pretty boring and bumped Tim Walz out of primetime, which is annoying. The ex-Republican Jeff Duncan was an amazing Never Trump example, and Tim Walz is an amazing communicator. Thanks Matt and Bill.
