The FreqOut unit is the absolute bee's knees, I've had mine for a few years now and they are the absolute bomb, best thing ever made for a guitarist same as a great dirt pedal...I love mine!!!!!!!!!
Very musical samples provided 10/10 !!! Where would you put either of these pedals in your signal chain? I'm also very curious about that FreqOut PRECISELY because of the what you mentioned earlier: "The IR revolution"
Good questions: pitch shifters like the whammy are something I ALWAYS put first in the chain so that the pitch being harmonized/shifted is as true from the guitar as possible. The FreqOut is something to play around with. Since it has a Gain control if it were AFTER drives it would increase level, like a boost. I like it pre drives personally. Since the effect is sort of envelope controlled, again a truer guitar signal would be helpful.
I love my Freqout! But a couple things to note: 1) It is not at all a sustain pedal. This means that the feedback only lasts as long as the note itself naturally sustains on your guitar, and then will drop out completely. This can be awkward if you don’t learn to anticipate it. 2) The gain function (obv) also adds volume to the feedback, something to keep in mind if you’re playing at lower volumes.
Thank you for clearifying this! I wanted a freqout thinking I could do infinite feedback sustaina but that turns out to be not true. Atleast not if you dont hook it up with other pedals making up for the cut off the freqout has. Still bought it, but Ill make sure to use a compressor and reverb with it, probably a big muff aswell
What do you mean by, they’re not going away? ( DigiTech/DOD) Harman killed them off. Tom Cram has moved on. Then Samsung bought Harman. That didn’t go well? February 2023 Ok, I see Tom’s back and reviving it. Great to hear. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’ve got the whammy and FreqOut. Great pedals. I use the FeqOut, completely different than you. It’s also an Ebow on steroids, sustain and feedback on command.
Detune sounds good if the whammy has it. It sounds better than a typical chorus pedal. I also thought ones in the boss style enclosures where really good. The XT range?
To sum it up, Samsung purchased the company that owned Digitech and DOD. Both brands had been in a bit of a renaissance period thanks to the design work of Tom Cram, who spearheaded a lot of the DOD revamp and Digitech offerings. For some reason, Samsung decided to get out of the MI business and essentially liquidated the brand. This was done despite a lot of built up goodwill and reputation and excitement. CorTek came in and purchased the brands from Samsung shortly before the 2023 NAMM show and has been manufacturing ever since. TL;DR - giant corporation was a giant corporation and messed a good thing up
You cost me a lot of money. I literally decided to buy the FreQout on Reverb. I went to the user's store to find out of the 8 pedals he listed he also had the Ricochet... yeah, I caved and bought it too 🤦lol

@@sidpablo thanks for checking it out!
The freqout has been on my wish list for awhile but now I think I’m going to have to add the ricochet as well. 🍻
…would love to see the DigiTech Talker come back! 🥰
Thanks! I'm gonna buy both....
Excellent review!

10:08 - can you, please, explain what exact “screwing up” you refer to?

@@SeanPierceJohnson ooh, thanks!
Oh no... how many pedals does a guitarist need again? N+1? Nope. N+2!!!!
Exactly

Hey, I guess I did that whole “influencer” thing right I suppose
@@SeanPierceJohnson apparently. You made an excellent video with those pedals. They sounded great! Thanks!!
Is it possible to use the FreqOut on a Mooer ge 300 pedalboard??? I love it!!!!!!
of course you can! I'd recommend trying it BEFORE the ge-300 and in the FX loop
