This is as good as going to find someone at a Shed Place. Many times they are closed or not available! I expected better and tried to join twice now I do learn from You and do so much better in my time. Richard
Is the Shed Place like a "men's shed"? RUclips is a great place to learn new things, last night I some how ended up watching some dance lessons for a dance that I had never heard of before and I don't dance anyway. I'm happy to hear when my videos are helping people gain knowledge as that is what most of them are made for. Thanks for watching.
I'm planning on remaking this video with more information. If you have any questions please leave them as a reply to this comment and I will try and answer them in the updated videos. Thanks for watching.
Deepak Eapen I believe you can find inserts already made in some pet stores for that. Or you can make the floor a bit thicker and carve out an indentation. I think it is good to have a cavity to keep the baby birds from having splayed legs as well as keep the eggs from rolling.
This design is the best I have ever seen as it keeps the young in the nest until they are ready to leave and the chicks and eggs don't roll out when the nest is inspected. What design do you think people should use?
um one question bro. Talking about the normal mutation budgerigar which are small in size. They do not need nesting materials to lay eggs. Now, there is a chance that the eggs will not roll properly if the base is plain right? so won't there be any problem if the base is not concave?
I use wood shavings or saw dust in the bottom of the boxes and the budgies will remove what they don't need. The Shavings that are left in the box by the hen stop the eggs from rolling into the corners which is what the concave is also for.
I remade this box in a new video with more information, you can watch it here ruclips.net/video/0zvuKmjzfJw/видео.html It's the second episode in our new series were I make thing.
I would never use an uprite box for budgies as when they enter they drop down on the eggs and or babys I use an oblong box with the entrance hole opposite end to the concave to avoid this happening
morgan smith I like the deeper boxes as it keep the young in there until they are able to fly which is safer. I had a hen that would lay ten eggs and hatch them in this size box so I will not be changing as it has always worked for me.
I make sure the rough side of the timber is on the inside of the box and then put saw dust in all the boxes to help the chicks with grip. I have only had splayed leg on a very small number of chicks.
+BirdSpy Aus Thank you. Also please mention the standard size of hole to be put for entry & exit. Also I am wondering whether we should keep something inside the box for the bird to climb till the hole...
The nails are there to hold the timber in place until the glue sets, with out the glue the box would come apart. I don’t have any problems with the boxes over heating and there is a gap between the back of the box and the lid and the heat can also escape at the entrance hole. These boxes are also not designed to be used in the open so there is no need for drain holes.
The Box nest that i have are smaller than the one in this video I just wanna know if the size matters or not because my budgies haven't laid any eggs??
If you really want a concave in the bottom of your budgie boxes then you should have a look at the design that I came up with and how to make it ruclips.net/video/INNmAYD6pcI/видео.html
+Raju Agri This box is for breeding birds in an aviary. If you want a to make a box for wild bird you will first need to find out which bird are in your area and build a box that suits them.
No not at all. However if you did tame you're birds and them breed them they would be less tame afterwards because of how much time they put into their chicks and not you
If the box is to small then the budgies will not use it but you can make the boxes a little bit smaller then the one in the video. There are a lot of reasons why budgies will not breed but the main ones are they are not older enough, you may have only males are the female is infertile.
This needs to be caved in where the gas are laid otherwise the eggs will all go in different corners and they will not hatch There needs to be a price of floor which is saved down so all eggs go down in that circle!!!
I have seen many types but this one is the tops ! cheers from thailand.

I have heard that the nest box must have a cavity in the center to stop the eggs from rolling around in the cage. Is that really needed?

can you please advice, what's the best size for cockatail boxes...
+Ajoy M I hope to make some more box videos soon and the cockatiel box will be one of them but a box of about 250x250x500mm should be fine.
+BirdSpy Aus
Thank you. Also please mention the standard size of hole to be put for entry & exit. Also I am wondering whether we should keep something inside the box for the bird to climb till the hole...
I want to know the measurements, length, sleeve, centimeter, width and depth
Emad Rozhbayani it’s on his website
The nails are there to hold the timber in place until the glue sets, with out the glue the box would come apart.

What type of wood is the best to use it for nest box?

I use plywood but any non toxic timber should be fine.
If you really want a concave in the bottom of your budgie boxes then you should have a look at the design that I came up with and how to make it ruclips.net/video/INNmAYD6pcI/видео.html
Bird Spy Australia you are amazing
What wood do you use and isn't plywood toxic to birds because of the birds
+J.A.D VLOGS, I use plywood and it's safe.
Bird Spy Australia thanks so much
whats that white thing you re applying ?
sir if wood may get wasted soon if rain water fall over the nest house
+Raju Agri This box is designed to be used under cover so don't put it anywhere that water can get to it.
Wouldn't the glue be toxic to the birds ? what kind of glue did u use thanks
I would have never thought of using nails AND glue together, that's smart :3
sir birds need houses in our house or nature house ..they must be kept in trees right
+Raju Agri This box is for breeding birds in an aviary. If you want a to make a box for wild bird you will first need to find out which bird are in your area and build a box that suits them.
you have made a nice nest of birds
What are the measurements?
Hi there
Did you find out the dimensions?
Thank you
Very nice!
Thank you.
Very very nice
beautiful nest box
one more question, my budgies aren't completely tame, does this effect their breeding
No not at all. However if you did tame you're birds and them breed them they would be less tame afterwards because of how much time they put into their chicks and not you
Sandi Jennings This will help a lot, thank you for the info.
can you show how can i make a concave pad for the eggs to be in one area.thanks. Send me you make or link on zacraj@hotmail.com
+Abel Zachariah Yes I can. ruclips.net/video/INNmAYD6pcI/видео.html :)
what kind of wood did you use?
The information to make the box is on the website.
Pro you need the ova glue?
aaron dinh Yes, you do need the PVA glue.
why cant o buy them off ebay, it goes to the website then ebay link then no flat packs to buy
investing in a cheap compressor with a finishing nail gun will make your work a lot more easier and faster. Other then that is a nice box
what type of wood and what dimensions and glue
Do you have the plans for the breeding box, when you click on the www. it comes up error
love the video .
Thanks, I've updated the link to this one www.birdspyaustralia.com/make-a-budgie-box.html

Size of the box
Size kya hai???
Is that Save?
Safe? Yes.
Nice video
#Bdhobbies
thank you very much for dis informative video...Bird Spy Australia...
nice work...
Query:NO Query…
You need a small hole at the bottom (not going through the wood) so the chicks don't develop splayed feet
The size I use allows me to get the most out of a sheet of plywood with very little waste.
qual a diferencia do macho pra a femia
No dimensions?
