I used to manage a gated community with 2 ponds that had some 7-8 pounders in it. Occasionally residents would ask me to kick kids out who were fishing. I would just drive over in my golf cart and ask the kids what was biting and tell them where the good spots were out of the view of the condo commandos. I could never send a kid off who is actually outside enjoying nature instead of playing video games.

Talk about cold. When my family moved to Gulfbreeze in 1961 dad rented a house on Fairpoint . The winter of 1962 got really cold and the house was not very well insulated. We had a bathroom on an outside wall and the wash cloth froze . The bay had a slight crust of ice around the edges. Thank goodness the front moved out and normal warm weather returned.

Brant I can relate to Andy's and your adventures on them ponds . I live on Northrop growing up and I would and a bud of mine would drive our atvs on the side of the road loaded down with fishing gear.. night or day we fished the ponds u are describing. Golf course ponds we would catch carp the size of king mackerel. And the pond across the street we would catch bass and huge brim. I have also fished ms. Pains property and one of my teachers from Milton high Mrs. Carol a pond in that area that I got permission to fish legally . Just listening to your story made me relate so much and was shocked.. I have many stories of tanglewood and trails and childhood fun. Awesome place to grow up for sure.
