  • In today's session of our Torah/Turah Tidbit, we discuss the sabbath. Is it proper to celebrate it from evening to evening or is it correct to do so from morning until morning or morning until evening? Is the sabbath 12 hours or is it 24?? Let's talk about it!

Sister, I have a correction: Creation did NOT begin with darkness. Creation began IN darkness. Darkness was already present BEFORE the first printed act of Creation. We don’t see creation until HE creates the LIGHT.

@@TrumpetsCall_AmarYaH What I was speaking of was sunrise to sunrise since the light was the first thing created. Not the darkness. Which means YAH created during the day and that evening to morning was the first day. And so on…That’s what I meant sister. Apologies.

I disagree with the day beginning in the evening for these specific reasons that I came across during my studies. Do what you will with this information.
    Genesis 1:14 states,
Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night.
Note: he did not say to divide the night from the day. He said to DIVIDE THE DAY FROM THE NIGHT.
    2) Mark 15:42
And now when the even (EVENING) was come, because it was the PREPARATION, that is, THE DAY BEFORE THE SHABBAT.
"Evening" in this passage DID NOT SIGNIFY the beginning of a day. The evening was the latter part of a day.
Jonah 4:7 But Yah prepared A WORM when THE MORNING ROSE THE NEXT DAY, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
    Exodus 16:23-24
Moses said, “This is what Yah was talking about: TOMORROW IS A DAY OF REST, a holy SHABBAT to Yah. Whatever you plan to bake, bake today; and whatever you plan to boil, boil today. Then set aside the leftovers UNTIL MORNING.” They set aside what was left UNTIL MORNING, as Moses had commanded. It didn’t SMELL BAD and there were NO WORMS in it.
    Exodus 16:19-20
19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till THE MORNING.
20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until THE MORNING, and it bred WORMS, and STANK: and Moses was wroth with them.
    1 Samuel 19:11
Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him IN THE MORNING: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life TONIGHT, TOMORROW THOU SHALT BE SLAIN.
    Further Cross references/precepts
    Exodus 12:10
And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the MORNING; and that which remaineth of it until the MORNING ye shall burn with fire.
    Exodus 29:34
And if ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the MORNING, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it is holy
Notice the emphasis on MORNING. Something always changed in the morning. Nothing changed in the evening during Moses' instructions to the children of Yasharal in the wilderness.
Yahushua's testimony of when he rose from the grave also proves when a day begins and ends. Matthew 28:1 gives you a very precise timeline when Yahushua rose from the grave.
At the END of the SHABBAT as it began to DAWN towards the FIRST DAY of the week.
    2) you cannot DAWN towards the first day of the week in the evening cause that's a contradiction. DAWN/SUNRISE/MORNING are SYNONYMOUS. Dusk/sundown/evening are SYNONYMOUS.
    3) Now if we work backwards from the timeline of MATTHEW 28:1. Yahushua rose from the grave on Sunday (the 1st day of the week) on the 18th day of the 1st month.
Yahushua was dead 3 days and 3 nights before the 18th (Saturday [17th], Friday [16th], Thursday [15th]) which means he died on Wednesday evening the 14th. That means that PASSOVER landed on a so called Wednesday the 14th day in the evening. The Feast of unleavened bread started Thursday morning according to this testimony which further proves the day begins at dawn/morning and not in the evening unless specified via Holy convocations like day of Atonement and Passover.
In conclusion, Yahushua didn't rise from the grave in the evening. He resurrected early in the morning as the light was separating from the darkness aka the even AND the morning. Those 2 things happening at the same time is the starting point of a day. Just as winter isn't the beginning of the year, the evening is not the beginning of a day. If spring is the beginning of the year, the morning would also have to be the beginning of a regular day, unless specified via Holy Convocation.
    Spring/summer is the sunrise/morning of the seasons/year, fall/winter is the sunset/evening of the seasons/year.

@@Ragingfiyah That's easy. Out of the mouth of 2 to 3 witnesses may every word be established. One passage doesn't dismiss Moses or Yahushua testimony of when days begin and end. If Yahushua is the way, the truth, and the light. And the only way to the father. Then nothing can contradict his testimony, otherwise he would be an author of confusion/a liar; which he isn't.
Nehemiah 13:19 is classic example of most people closing up shop the night before the Shabbat. Most businesses close up shop around 9pm. If the Shabbat is the next day. You close down Friday night and you won't be open for business until Sunday morning. You aren't going to be open for business in the evening on the Shabbat. And you are not going to be open for business just before the next day (Shabbat). Because it defeats the purpose of the day before the Shabbat being called the PREPARATION DAY.
What are you preparing for, if you're closing up shop at the last minute before the next day (Shabbat) begins? Don't you need to cook double portions before the Shabbat and leave it out for you to eat during the Shabbat? You don't cook dinner in the morning. You cook dinner in the evening. But you won't have time to cook for the Shabbat after you close up shop via Nehemiah 13:19 which is a contradiction to Moses's instructions of TOMORROW being the Shabbat.

You will see that Yahuah gave very detailed instructions for gathering manna which appeared during the day and other daily instructions for cooking and preparation (daytime). Israel disobeyed Yahuah’s commandments several times when gathering mana.
Consider these questions, (1) where are the instructions for gathering quails? (2) Why do you suppose there were no instructions for gathering quails, which took place in the night (nighttime)? (3) If Israel went out on the Shabbath to gather manna, what do you think they would have done when gathering quails?

@@TrumpetsCall_AmarYaH no, we can't slip two evenings in on the 9th. That is not biblical. If we count a day from evening to evening we only have one evening per day. Evening to evening counting puts the fast at 24 hrs on the 9th. From the evening of the 9th (beginning of the 9th) to the evening of the 10th (beginning of the 10th) which is one 24hr period on the 9th. Shalum MarYah 🎺 Call!
Oooo, this will be interesting! I’ll be listening to this tomorrow, Abba willing 😉.
There is so much debate on the Shabbat and the start of the day, etc. 🤯 I resonate with and now practice the lunar Shabbat, because the days of the week and Gregorian calendar are pagan made and The Most High told us to use the sun and moon to register time. Plus, Abba does not state a day of the week in the Bible, (just the number) because he didn’t create the named days and the week. The named days are all named after pagan gods.
The actual start of the day, I need to investigate more. Sunrise naturally feels like the start of the day. Sunset naturally feels like the end of the day. The time in between, to me feels like a separate and transitional time. Seeing as evil mostly does it’s works in this time, it feels like it “belongs” to them. Anyhoo, can’t wait to listen!

    Beloved sister,
Respectfully, evening and morning are not a day. In the english language, the word "and" is a coordinating conjunction. It serves to join words, phrases and even sentences. It joins things. Example; peanut butter "and" jelly. The word "to" is a preposition in the english language. It indicates destination. Example; I am going from virginia "to' California. California is my destination. Therefore the phrase... "the evening "and" the morning" cannot mean the same thing as the phrase "evening "to" evening."
Genesis is listing the parts of the day NOT THE ORDER of the day. The evening and the morning without day and night, vannot possibly be a day. We can't use "and" correctly when we say for example; Jacob "and" Esau and then use it incorrectly when we say; the evening "and" the morning. To translate from one language to another you have to be expert in both languages. The translator would know what"and," and "to," do!
The evening "to" evening Sabbath reckoning is approved/noted for only one sabbath in the entire bible (the day of Atonement)(and it requires the 9th day of the month at evening to be the second half of the day). To use it as the example for all Sabbaths, you would have to also make all sabbaths a fast day and have them take place on two calendar dates.
Beloved brethren please look into this! Our salvation depends on it! Celebrating Yah's holy days on profane times is not good! Evening to evening is a J__ish lie. A day begins at first light and ends at first light the next day! He called the light "day." A new light is a new day! We are awakening. Lets do it all the way! Please prove everything. Yah bless you all!
