I've been using this MiFi for several months now. It's what I use for my work. As you said, the battery life is significantly better than most if not all more expensive MiFi's out there. However, I've heard of people complain about the battery life and overheating. Maybe they're putting it in their pockets as you've pointed out.
It is good. It has battery saving mode (sleep mode) and short wifi coverage setting to help prolong the life of the battery. While the overheating happens when it is place in warm places. From my research, Hot weather can increase MiFi temperature too. Thank you, Radar. I appreciate your comment.
Nice video. Since I use just 1 phone and I'm always on the moves around lagos, which means the mifi will always be in my pocket then occasionally, I use my laptop for 3 hours a day and maybe 2 times a week. Will you advice I get a mifi or just stick to my phone. Thanks.
I was considering gettiuthis recently but no 5GHz band is the deal breaker for me (So glad you covered that). Do you have any alternatives you can recommend with a 5GHz band?
Awesome video. You only spoke about the battery life when you compared the oraimo and the MTN m30s. What about network speed, are they both the same or oraimo faster than the MTN m30s
Awesome review, please my question is, I don't have my phone cause it got lost, so I'm buying this for my laptop but how then do i get the translink app on pc.?
You can if you want to, sir. You said you lost your phone. That's why I suggested that. You can log in with the IP address at the back of the MiFi. Thank you.
Thanks for this I'm actually in the middle of getting one. Is oraimo the best you'd recommend? And is it better than MTN hynet router? I'm very particular about internet speed cos I use it to work. MTN works best in my area, should I go for a mifi or a router. And which? Pls I'd appreciate your urgent response. Thanks
Thank you for the comment, Mr Charles. It actually depends on what you want and how you will use it. You mentioned internet speed. The Mtn router is Cat 6 while this oraimo Mifi is Cat 4. You will get more speed on the MTN hynet but it is not mobile. However, if you want a router that can be move anywhere, anytime, on the go... And you can change the SIM in case you are travelling, keep your pocket that's why it's called portable router.... Then, Oraimo Mifi is better. The MTN hynet router cannot be moved anywhere and it is only to MTN sim. Hope this helps. 😊
😅 Well I purchased mine early this month. I noticed mine started heating up while charging and without charging. And it was slow like hell 😅 connected to my tab and phone and lasted me 6 hours. I knew something wrong immediately. Quickly went to look for a solutions using Ip address. Turn off connection status and went to network setting, sharply change from automatic to 4G only. I notices some changes. Well mifi still charge for 5hrs.The network was now fast and it lasted me almost close to 10hrs (9.5hrs) 👍
Okay, this is an update of what I said earlier. If anyone's mifi is overheating please put it close to a fan it helps to reduce overheating and make your mifi warm, this also improve the battery of the mifi . I notice another change with mine again, not too hot but not too bad. I placed mine on fan throughout the day I notice yesterday it lasted 10 hours 6 minutes yesterday then today it lasted 11 hours 46 minutes. This shook me. Wetin dey happen 😂
It will work depending on the network provider of the visiting country. You need to know their network band and see if the mifi supports it. Most of the time, it supports.
Please my question is that will you put data for the sim wey u go use or not Secondly if you will do sub before is the mifi going to reduce the data consumption? Please explain it to me
You can check my tips and tricks video about these two questions that you asked but let me just tell you the answers. For the First time, you can buy data on it or put it a phone and buy data, then remove it and put it inside the mifi. When you get your SIM card and you put it in your your MiFi, you don't have to be removing it every time. There are many ways you can recharge it or buy data on it. You can buy data on it by sharing data from your phone or friend's phone or any phone at all. You can buy data directly from your bank. You can buy it from MTN app. You can also recharge it like your normal phone by using credit on paper. An app called Translink is needed to be downloaded on your phone and you will see and do everything to your wifi. You can also use another website to do some other settings to your mifi. And to the second question, if you have data subscription on your MiFi and you switch it ON, it will not reduce the data so far is not connected anything. The Mifi is there to help you send and receive internet data to connected devices like phones, laptops, pads, and the rest. Mifi itself don't use the data except you want to update it's firmware which is once in a year. All you have to do is just to connect to it and use your data. Once you exhaust your data on it, it will be on but internet data will be off. So, you need to buy another data for it to work. You can watch my video on tips and tricks on how to use oraimo Mifi.
Like now am using 5k data a month so what if I start to the using this mifi is the data consumption will reduce? like maybe 3k own will reach me a month because of using the mifi
No, sir. It's not going to reduce the consumption of your data package per month. The Mifi is there to there to help you connect more devices to that data plan so it's more like is not stressing your phone. Instead of using your phone as the connector or something that will help you to you know connect other smartphones and at the end, your phone will start getting hot. The MiFi will just do the job of helping you do that. There are other benefits of the Mifi like guest wifi. Again, the tips and tricks video will help you with that.
Love the review but skipped some cool features, it can connect up to 16 devices Can create a guest connection and set allocation of either data or time(it will be active) for the guest connection separately The mifi also has a sleep mode to save battery I'm one of it's early buyers(about 18k then) and it complements my MTN 5g router perfectly
Hi, this is a late comment but i hope you reply. Im in ghana and the Network signal is bad in my area for all providers. The best i get for mtn is 1 bar and for the rest like airtel and Vodafone (now telecel), i get 0 bar or edge. Would this mifi be able to help me use the telecel since their data bundle packages are better than mtn? Ie, can it get better signal or boost the signal of telecel for me
Hi, I'm considering buying this. But I'm still lost on how to recharge it. I noticed you didn't cover that. The process of recharging these networks (for instance airtel), would it be via airtel app? Ussd code? Will I be a normal data purchase? Or specific mifi bundle?
I said it in the video. You might have missed it if you didn't watch the whole video. For the recharge, USDD or Data Transfer. Because of some offers, I do transfer credit to the line and subscribe with the USSD.
It is not hard at all. Yes, It is just like buying data for your normal SIM card. You don't have to remove your sim now and then. It is just like using a Prepaid meter. Buy Data directly from your Bank, recharge it with Data transfer from another Line, or Buy Credit and recharge using the USSD on the Web UI. The same WEB UI can also do the sending codes and prompts just like your phone. So, you can choose any data of your choice. I simplified this by memorizing one Data code and if you are an MTN user like me, there is an engage1 website that works like the myMTN app for the router. Thank you.
