Columns III (Columns III: Revenge of Columns In most Western versions) is a puzzle arcade game and console game. It was published by Sega in Japan and by Vic Tokai in North America in 1993 and is a sequel to Columns 2:The Voyage through time.

Columns 3 is best played against a friend or a family member. Going against the computer in the game is a major pain.

@@lucaslevinsky8802 I disagree with it being both Puyo and/or Mean Bean Machine. Columns has different controls, and you match *three* not *four* of each.

Having found this game sounded like a cat purring to me out of nostalgia. I love this game

When I first play that game I did never saw jewels before when I was 8 I was playing nes ds I was only playing sonic games i got columns 3 on my genesis but the sound isn't good as the other mega drive games but i still love that game it's really cool
A lot say this is a similar game to Dr Robotnik's mean bean machine but the difference is that game is easier because in that game you get unlimited continues and in this game you only get a couple of continues.
Its actually similar to Puyo Puyo.Mean Bean Machine is a western release.

One of my favorite games back then.
First i played this game in normal but defeating the final boss there is a ending, but i realized beating the mummy ehe final boss of this game in normal is the bad ending. For lucky i played this game in hard the true final boss is not the mummy is the sphinx beating him is the good ending you earn the treasure box, is a great game

There was like a style change or somethin halfway thru. Did somebody different start playin at around 33:10?
It could have been just slowing down to show what the earlier, slower enemies do in the game. I've made discoveries about these enemies that I would have never learned always playing them fast and serious as an expert, standing at least some chance against the sphinx. I discovered by "slow-running" the bat, where I take as long as possible (and I think it was win or lose, too, how I did it) that it uses its "magic gem" to clear its board rather than lower its crush bar, like the spider does and would be common sense against a player with some skill putting crush bars on it.
My Dad played this game in 1994.

@4:51 How did you make the pillars rise on your opponent's section? I don't know how that works...
By clearing enough jewels you can attack your opponent and cause the "Crush Bar" aka the pillars to rise, you need ten points to do this tho

All my homies hate the Columns 3 spider.
I used to be a pro at this game then I stopped playing bc I thought that I would win every time. Then when I wanted to restart my columns streak I only made it up to the crab. So yh if anything if you’re really good at smth keep doing it and eventually you will end up being famous or anything for it.

If you're still playing it, he will use his 'attack' after you use yours. Either hit him while he's defenseless or force him to use his attack THEN use yours. *just got to him myself, and I barely scraped by, 2-1*

Now it's the mummy I can't beat. He's mercilessly difficult.
The scorpion was the one that stumped me.
How can I get with final boss? All times I've get against the second mummy, the game got over just right there
Normal difficulty ends with the mummy. You must be playing on Hard to get the final boss and the true ending.

This run did use a "magic gem" item in the second game against the sphinx, and it is my only so far "perfect clear" with no round losses (not even just one out of three) as well.
Of course, the comment I am replying to was written some time in 2017, well before we all know what happened in 2020 and 2021, but it's still really cool for me to read about anyone around my level at this game where I thought it was very rare, at ANY point in time!
I have, too, beat the sphinx without items, the third try, keeping all the hourglasses and items into this final boss, today. Not the first time, either. I've done it itemless the first try with all the hourglasses and items, too!

Way better than me,hahahaha. I mean,I need to be in THAT position,playing like I did in that time,a couple years ago. But I thought that I was one of the best players in that time...Until i met another player that,man,he plays like the sphynx and way better that it! That put me in my place and I stop to play "Columns III" regularly. Beside,is better play vs another player.
Btw,that guy,"the best in the world",play vs others players in idk what platform.I saw this a couple years ago but he has the "best gameplay" o something like that in the "best of...".

On Candy Crush Saga the RNG goes to be very scammed at the point to you never win some stages,like in this one at the sphinx the bad blocks RNG which not gives you permission to attack and the uncontrollable wins from this boss,which is the same example,it's brain washing like right now,I just reached once to the finals,but I died mostly at the scorpion stage in hard
