I am a 58 year old japanese businessman. I always liked simulations , over the last 20 years I have bought many different Joysticks and systems. Rarely had a good experience with smaller companies like crosswind, they always promise you superior quality but in reality it is hardly the case. Those things can break also very easily. I always looked for the best solution so I gave many small companies a shot and will not anymore. The things I bought by thrustmaster are cheaper in the costs and holded up as good as the much costier ones. These days my employees if they happen to buy something new bring it to my office and I will be the first one who will test it. I like those pendular rudder pedals, but they cost more than the warthog hotas set which is not an option financial wise for most people I can expect.
You are a 58 year old Japanese businessman? You've go perfect first born American English dialect. These days your employees, if they happen to buy something new? bring it to your office and you will be the first one who will test it? If I buy something new, I take it home and *I'm* the first one who tests it. Do you think pretending to be an old wise Japanese businessman makes your opinion seem more relevant. I guess if I were pretending to be a prominent Japanese businessman, I would find an image of an older Japanese man in a suit but I wouldn't choose one that would come up on a google image search with the name Kunio Inoue who is 68 not 58 at the time of this photograph.
Everything about them looks really nice, except for the price tag. At $250-300 dolars I'd certainly consider getting a pair, 500 bucks is just an overkill.
I totally agree on the pricing being a bit steep - I picked up my HOTAS Warthog during one of the many times they went on sale and felt like it was an incredible value for the money. I figure these are going to be the same!
Compared to CH Products and Saitek, yes they are expensive. However, compared to FDS rudders which costs over 1000 USD, they suddenly not that expensive. I have my Warthog for 4 years now and I still love them. The MFD was a bit of a bummer, but they're great for FS17 or ETS2/ATS. I have have both the CH Products and Saitek rudders, but I had to open them up every 3 to 4 months to remove all the sand and dust to make it smooth again. And like Robert was saying, they have a very clear and distinct center position. This is not a real problem for fixed wings, but with rotorcraft, you'll need more subtle controls.. I won't be running to the stores when it comes out, but it will definitely on my shopping list. On the other hand, people are also crazy enough to pay more than 1000 dollars/euros for a IPhone. And most people use a phone for only 2 years.. It's not cheap, but this will be a purchase that lasts easily for 10 years..
Whatever the market price is. I used it for 3 years now, it's really good (has some reaaaally minor flaws to it) but it's good. Those pedals though, are really too expensive especially compared to their counterparts such as MFG Crosswinds or similar.
I also bought these rudder pedals and have had then about a month now. They are fantastic. I'm currently in training for my PPL using a Cessna 172-R for the training aircraft. In X-Plane 11 these pedals are very close to the real thing.
If pedals are sliding, and you can't put them against a wall, the easiest fix is a thick MDF base. Add rubber feet feet for wood floors, and speaker spikes for carpet. Cheap, easy and effective.
I absolutely love my HOTAS Warthog. That being said, the T16000 also has HallEffect sensors and I think uses the exact same centering spring as the Warthog -- might give it a look if you want to save a few dollars... but the feel of the HOTAS Warthog (weight, mostly metal construction, etc) is just incredible.
Warthog is definitely the current “gold standard”, but there is a Russian company putting out a really good dual throttle control and joystick...roughly comparable in price but like these pedals, they are easily adjustable and very well built (all metal).
Far from gold standard compared to VPC/VKB designs. Especially Warthogs plastic gimbal is pure crap compared to newer designs. I had Warthog hotas but replaced the stick with T-50 and it's a lot better, accurate and 9000 times better quality. Will replace the throttle soon in future.
@@psyrixx I know this is 4 month old and useless to reply, but the warthog is definitely not mostly metal construction. The stick handle is potmetal on the outside, but the base and most imporantly the gimbal is cheap plastic. There's also the stiction problem, coming form 2 oversized pin (or undersized holes), as well as the un trimmed plastic gimbal parts. The throttle is pittyful, with the handles in plastic, mounted on plastic axes with bad tolerances, inducing some or lots of play depending on the particular batch. All the weight comes from the 2 metal base plates (yes, 2, no reason why aside the weight marketing) and a stack of absolutely useless metal bars screwed on the inner plate, to add even more weight. I got it for 300€ buck and it's still overpriced
Xplane 11 since 2017 Running Pro FAA Hardware , Yoko Yoke, Precision flight controls throttle quadrant with Gear Ruder Trim and Flap controls and Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder Pedals . These Pedals are excellent . I have been running them for about 2 years bolted to the floor . PP SEL since 1969 flying C-150, C172, Stinson 108-1 . 20,000 hours on Xplane most time in the Pilatus PC-12, Wonderful Plane. AC4R
Bought my son the saitek pro pedals back in 2014 and had buy a second set in 2016 then in 2018 the second pair broke as well so decided to get him this pedals. Worth four times more than the saitek ones but worth every penny and by the feel and build quality they give me the feeling they’ll last a lifetime if used with care.
Place some wood in between the rudder pedals and the wall your desk backs to and it can't slide. Or, cover the bottom with a wooden plate that has weights on it behind it
I did that with my MFG Crosswinds and have secured my Thrustmaster TPR to a wooden sheet that keeps it the right distance from the wall. It's an excellent solution. :)
I have 1st gen MFG Crosswind Rudders, no breakages, fantastic build quality, no problems and they are also Hall effect so MUCH better than most. I soooo wish MFG could build a throttle with same quality as rudders so I can bin my awful Saitek/Logitech throttle quadrant...think I’m on my 4th and similar with yoke so now enjoy the Yoko ! Yes, my MFG rudders and Yoko Yoke come at a price but quality far exceeds the Saiteks I used for years and glad to see Thrustmaster upping their game !
I have been using my 2nd gen MFGs since 2017 and they still look and feel like new. A month ago I also got the SLAW pedals and now spent time to get used to them 😀
been using MFG pedals for over 8 years still as good as new have changed components to "tune" them to my preference. Disclaimer only ever used CH pedals and i had to import those from the USA because in 2013 usable pedals did not exist in the UK. my MFG pedals work just fine.
Thanks for Review! I was close to get the MFGs, but since the TPR were announced i was curious if they would fit helo flying more. They look like VKB Rudder with brakes. Perfect for doing plane and helo!
Despite the good review, and the fact that I really do like these, definitely take pricing into account. When these guys go on sale might be a better time to buy if cost is an issue. Like I said in the video, I got my set for free because I pestered the Marketing guy from Thrustmaster while I was at Oshkosh (I was already going to get these anyways) and he obviously saw a promotional opportunity. The one thing I didn't want this to come across as is a sales pitch and according to several replies on Reddit I failed at trying to avoid that. 😅 In any case, full disclosure -- don't trust me!
We need to get you some new sneaks. With that being said, I’m really excited about these pedals. Thank you for the review. And idea when they will hit the stores?
I was thinking the price tag was a little steep, but just by looking at the machined pieces, hinges, sensors and stuff, it shure looks like it's well worth the price.
I think some of your criticisms of the MFG are a little unfair. You can purchase them with the same style of "combat pedals" that the TPR comes with, which work well with heel on floor (which I also prefer). I have mine mounted to a wheelstand pro rig (any of these high end pedals deserve to be mounted to something IMO) and the extra height the rig provides makes the combat pedal height perfect when used that way. The new version also fixes the defect where the epoxy can break, there is no epoxy in the new style. The MFG's also use hall effect sensors with high precision so not sure where you draw that distinction, in terms of precision they are identical. An additional thing to note is that the MFG can be ordered with a relatively inexpensive damper which really adds to the feel, people have adapted dampers to the TPR's but it's a bit of a kludge. Last point I'll make is that the MFG pedals have a larger travel than the TPR which I find more realistic for most planes, and I've flown many (8 type ratings). While the TPR's are high quality and you really can't go wrong with either choice, for less money I think the MFG pedals represent a better choice. Additionally, you are supporting a small business in Italy. Thrustmaster manufactures in China, if you care about such things.
I did do quite a bit of asking around among the guys I fly with regularly (lots and lots of MFG-users) and none of them reported any catastrophic failures like the one you had there. Not sure what versions they were using though. I just ordered a set of MFGs V3, but I will say that while they are probably a pretty substantial upgrade in tech, precision and feel, I never really found myself longing for a different set of pedals while I was using my CH Pro ones. Only now I have them in storage and find myself longing for *any* set of pedals while I'm forced to use the twist-axis on my VKB... yuck! The CH ones I have are old enough to have a driver's license by now... they are from 1995 or 1996 and I've been using them for years on a cheap gameport-to-USB converter. They still look, feel and work like new as far as I can tell. They were so good in fact that when I acquired a set of Saiteks for free I switched back to the CH ones almost immediately. In fairness: That's probably also due to the fact that the Saiteks were the worst pedals I've ever used. Clunky action no matter what I did to that tension-knob, nearly impossible to make small adjustments around the center position and due to their width and stance kinda uncomfortable - at least for me. Having only seen pics/videos of them, I'm not sure I'd even want those TM ones, even if they weren't insanely expensive. I mostly fly WW2 stuff and the occasional jet in DCS ... and AFAIK (but not 100% sure) the sliding action that CH, MFG, Saitek and others use is actually closer to what most of the planes had back then.
Hello Robert. Thank you for this review and all of your other aviation related videos! Finally after 2½ years, i have money to spare on a set of these bad boys! TPR HYPE WOOP WOOP
If you can wait just a little bit longer, Honeycomb is going to be releasing their Charlie rudder pedals early next year -- they look to be pretty awesome and may be significantly cheaper than the Thrustmaster TPR pedals. That being said, I still love the Thrustmasters over two years later. Food for thought though! :-)
@@psyrixx Interesting point and thanks for the headsup. But i guess im Thrustmaster biased and dont mind paying top dollar for a top product. Yes, i once also got caught in the Saitek/madcatz mania and learned some tough lessons there. Ive had the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS since like forever, i believe i got it a year after release. Honeycomb products needs more user experience and market experience before i would buy their product.
@ryfocus7241 the tpr were ok but I needed the mod that added the little shock to tighten them up as they were was too loose for my liking. I added another spring to the ace pedals and they have a better feel.
I just bought the Logitech Saitek Pro G pedals. I would have still bought them if I knew about these prior. These are more than 3 times the cost of my pedals. I do wish the pedals I brought had a stronger return to center.
In 2024, they’re now asking almost $600 US for these, but I’m still considering it as I HATE the sliding type pedals. I’ve been using a twisty stick for many years.
Thanks for the detailed video, it convinced me to invest thrice the money and buy these instead of the Logitech rudders. It's certainly a deep cut, but similar to the Warthog Hotas you get a quality that is on a whole different level and so is the experience and immersion in the game. For decades, I played sims and sci-fi games with my old Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and while it gives you all basic controls in a neat setup, precision control is not a thing with twist-rudder sticks. Trying to taxi the recently released Messerschmitt BF 109G (MSFS) is next to impossible, as it relies heavily on brakes for turns. Can't wait for these pedals.
Real world pilot, been a while. Been simming for 20years. Upgrading to?? Yoko yoke...maybe $900. Sooooo what good pedals. Your review is so good that every question I had you answered. My guess is as expensive as these are that this is the pedal that is going to become popular amongst serious expensive simming. I two TPM's which are ok and have not made up my mind on the SO MANY twim engine throttle upgrades from my piece of junk Ch throttles, 2nd junk set.
I have this fixed on my motion rig in front of my racing pedals, the two holes in the back fit perfectly on the plate. No need to remove the racing pedals. My sitting position is a bit further back, where my X-56 controllers are fixed, without removing my racing gear changes, and handbrakes. But I found the rudders too sensitive in DCS to keep the SU-25 going straight after the landing. It tried to curve down the initial movements, maybe not enough, or are rudders really that sensitive.
1:24 I have sn: 2484 and is the same design as your's. True mine didn't failed yet but I guess I need to look for a replacement before that happen. I was not aware of this issue.
Mine are 0085, still work amazingly well. :) I'm not sure how did he break his MFG's. Btw, there is no comparison to VKB/Virpil designs. Additionally, IIRC, MFG's use hall sensors as well
i took the plunge, right now i'm using a pedal for pressing CTRL >....< i just got this so i can strafe up and down and roll smooth might start using stick instead of keyboard this weekend for playing star citzien, just smaller flight ships the damn thing feels janky using keyboard even if i got analogue keys,
Yeah, I'm really stuck. The only other pedals I use are the VKB T-Rudder Mk-IV.....those are perfect for me save for the lack of toe brakes. I know these would be a cut above, but without the rest of the hardware (yoke, etc...) of equal quality it's kind of hard to take them on.
Wasn’t this stuff in exhibit hangar B, I checked out the thrustmaster booth and got to test these with the fighter simulator they had set up, these were by far the best simulator pedals I have ever used and the price is the only downside
That is strange because the MFGs never felt all that precise. Again, it might be due to the slight rotation or the fact that their drivers are only reporting ~4096 or whatever positions on each axis? These guys - lightest pressure results in different input, the MFGs I feel like I have to move a bit before anything happens, and by then it's already moved too much. AGAIN my MFG are first generation though! The newer Crosswinds (third gen) may well be better than what I've been working with.
Can confirm, Crosswind's use Hall Effect sensors on all axis. Crosswinds are probably more accurate than the TPR pedals simply because they are wider. More leverage, longer throw, more precise. Just gotta get them really tuned to feel nice.
I didn't do much tuning with either set! I must have just gotten a bum release of MFGs or something, because they've always been "twitchy" - the firmware and configuration screens always have the axis "jumping" slightly even when I'm not putting in any input (ie: MFGs sitting there doing nothing with no feet on them) so I just assumed they were regular 'ole peripheral sensors (I'm a software guy, not a hardware guy, so forgive me if I sound like an idiot here). And AGAIN - I love my MFG Crosswinds, they saved me from the Saitek Pro Flight slider pedals. I've been using them for 5-6ish years. You wouldn't go wrong picking up a set of MFGs. Even with the "jittery-ness" my set feels really good. I can only imagine the Gen 3 pedals are that much better, which is why I specifically mention that I'm using Gen 1 in this video. The Thrustmasters do feel much more like a real world set of Cessna / Piper / DA40 rudder pedals - I've been flying those types of aircraft enough to say that without question. Is that worth the cost of the TPR? ...well, I did mention in the video that TM products tend to go on sale rather frequently... :-)
To by fair, MFG Crosswind of 1st generation use an less tech USB controller and contactless sensor (analog bus) than 2nd/3rd revisions, who start use MFG SIMM8Rge USB controller and Melexis HALL sensor (similar to used by Thrustmaster Warthog and Saitek X-55/56) in digital protocol. Probable the main factor for feel PR more precise than Crosswind is due the use with heels on floor, users of VKB T-Rudder has the same feel.
This is great information regarding the USB controller and analog sensors. I've never used the 2nd/3rd generation MFG pedals (and mentioned that in the video) and therefore have no idea how they feel in comparison.
I have been doing some major upgrades on my PC and flight sim gear. I am not going to be reinstalling the old PD3v4 . will be just sticking with x plane as i feel the its just a better platform now. have been using MS force feedback for years with the FS force add on. also the siatek rudders peddles. moving up to the thrust master joystick and peddles soon.
There is quite a price difference between MFG and TPR, MFG costs half of TPR and I must say MFG is doing quite a good job at that price tag. I find it quite unfair to compare it to a unit which costs double. Slaw Device or Baur's pedals would be a better comparison. About Warthog, while the stick itself is very good, plastic gimbal is a very disappointing choice by TM, they are known to crack and fail. When it comes to sensor and gimbal Virpil and VKB seems to do a much better job but again A-10 stick of TM is simply superior to anything else for my opinion. While I think TPR pedals are great, 500$ price tag is steep I prefer waiting the results of Baur&Virpil partnership to have more options.
In terms of the original sales price there is a big difference. But add to this the cost of sending the MFG and the difference becomes smaller. If I would buy the MFG + combat pedals + shipping to Australia the price wouldn’t be far from the TM TPR which I can buy in may shops here. Having said that I only wish MFG wasn’t so expensive to ship :)
after my , T16000 stick broke which i loved as the time i spoiled my self with the warthog, best decision ive made but because it cant yaw i need to get rudder pedals but damn this awesome thing is too expensive for what it is
Are the brakes load-cell i.e. pressure sensitive (hydraulic brakes are pressure sensitive) as opposed to measuring distance pressed? I’m planning on learning in a Cessna 152. I’m not bothered too much about budget as airtime is expensive in the UK £200+ an hour so anything that helps reduce time to translate from sim to reality is much appreciated…
I use the Logitech Pro Flight rudder pedals and while they worked as a starting point in my flight sim adventures I've begun to hate them after about a year of use. They're plastic, lightweight, flimsy and the tension system is pathetic. Not to mention they swivel side to side rather forward and back like the TPR pedals do. Looking forward to upgrading in the future to the TPR pedals, thanks for the review.
X-Plane 11 recognizes my new TPR (easy to install) and asks for calibration process. Success . But when I start a flight I get a message telling the device recognized but functions are not assigned, so the device is not active until reset . Heeelp.
Cool shirt😏 the pedals look nice! But for starters it is best to buy 3 monitors angeled correctly and buy track IR. It is one of the best upgrades u can have, for me at least. TrackIR is a must have. VR is unknown to me but i can easily fly around for 5/6 hours before i get a sour butt sitting to long😅 i will buy these pedals one day. Thanks for the video👍🏻
Go VR! buy a rift s and you will never go back! instead of looking at a cockpit on a flat screen you are in the cockpit!. I just built a computer with the intention to go 3 screen and track ir but i bought a rift s and now i can never go back. its gaming in 3d, you feel like if you reach out you will touch the dials tho your mind is sometimes fooled so no barrel rolls for the first 3 days till you get used to it or you could be sick and that would never happen on a flat screen. Thats how much more real it feels!
Captain, thanks for your tutorial, I have a question, I checked the Thrustmaster TPR, when turning fully to the left and the same to the right, the rudder or the front tire of the plane only turns 10%, what could be happening in my configuration How can you help me?
im so late to the party about these. they took forever to makes these and never fixed their broken hotas. my MFGs which might be 2nd gen are still like new
Question, do real helicopter rudders have a spring to bring the rudder back to the neutral position? I see that most, if not all sim peddles do. I was watching a helicopter video that made it look like when you push the peddle it stays in position and the other peddlemoves the same amount in the opposite direction
Great review thanks - How hard would have been for Thrustmaster to have allowed you the option to remove the rubber pads and replace with a type of toothcomb cat's tongue style feet that should be included in the box for use on carpets ? For the price it should have been a no-brainer to include such a simple fix.
Yeah, definitely an oversight on their part. Works great mounted to a piece of birch that is cut to fit against my wall and keep the pedals in the perfect spot though! Annoying that's the solution.
Hey there. I fly real word helicopters and tailwheel airplanes so I’m looking for something that would accurately simulate the real thing for hover and/or rudder realism for the Pitts landing or aerobatics. Have you flown taildraggers? If so how real do these seem? Have you tried them with the MSFS2020 Pitts?
So as for how they operate they are the most realistic pedals I've tried. The one downside is they do not have a very realistic feeling amount of resistance although I'm sure you could adjust that with a different spring in the back. I don't have much taildragger experience (did some aerobatics training in a Citabria once) however these pedals operate very closely to the pedals in the C172s, C182, and M20J that I've flown several times. Apart from how "easy" the travel is they hit the mark in every other way.
@@psyrixx it has HOTAS support and everything is mappable. If it doesn't have a problem with two input devices at once it should work. Will try it later today
@@psyrixx I've just tried it with the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and Saitek Rudder Pedals and after a lot of fiddling around because of some dead zone issues it works really well and is a lot of fun in VR. The problem was that it puts a dead zone on the Joystics X and Y axis and the workaround is to use a thirdparty tool to change the axis to something else than X and Y. Super weird but works, if you need help I can send you a link I found on reddit.
@@MixedRealitySimRacing Sweeet, I'm going to mess around with it a bit myself. Wouldn't hurt to post the reddit link here in case any other viewers come upon this thread!
Could you measure the width at their widest point? I think they may be too wide for my Ozone cockpit but I would love to be wrong. If I'm wrong, then I'm definitely going to be buying this.
I'll just save you all the time...yes, these are completely worth it. I had a set for a brief while and damn I was impressed. But why take my word for it? Get a set from Amazon and try them out, and then return them, free of charge. I did.
They are as smooth as silk which is very welcome over some of the other types I have tried and the action of the pendular style movement is what make these golden for me. Although they are not "identical" to the pedals in the Bell-412 or other skid mount helo the option of having the differential braking was sorda resposible for getting me interested in trying fixed-wing flight. So I can not really say how close they are to a irl fixed-wing aircraft because I have no experience there but for rotorcraft these pedals absolutely kill the competition. Compared to slider and axial rotating designs these are in another world. So yeah I am a fan lol and last but certainly not least is the fact that they seem to be pretty bullet-proof because I am really tough on hardware and have destroyed a lot of joysticks and throttles in my sim days but these things seem to hold up like they are fresh out of the box and that was also a surprise because usually, pedals are "sticky" when new then they slowly get broke in and smooth out until finally getting loose and innacurate but these were smooth right out of the box and amazingly still are.
You get what you pay for I expect These pedals will last for years I imagine. Would love to see a cpmparison between these and the RUDDO pedals from Virtual Fly. Now those are REALLY expensive.
Are the pedals much wider apart than on a Cessna 152 or 172? Seems they are quite a distance apart from each other on the video, but might be hard to judge.
As I expected not for desktop use, only for cockpit users that can mount them in custom pits. As for pedals that don't slide check out VKB's rudder pedals in terms of smoothness and accuracy they are "out of this world". Price is not even close to this you can get 3 sets and still have money left.
Does VKB make rudders that have brake axis? Legitimate question - last time I took a look their pedals were pretty specifically for helicopters with the exclusion of any sort of wheel brake axis.
@@psyrixx nope they don't have brake axis. You can use differential braking using their software or use a brake lever for Russian style planes. But for under desk use, they are unrivaled. They are compact, comfortable, easy to put away when you finish using them, and again in terms of accuracy they are fantastic. I simply don't understand why TM went for such a design, unlike the MFG and any other type of pedals these are extremely difficult to use under a desk without fixing them to the floor or jamming them in a wall. And for the amount of money they are asking I'd personally go for Baur or MFG. It would be interesting to see how the inside mechanism looks like for the TM product. If indeed they did increase quality of the internal components it is a good sign. Maybe we will finally see a decent stick from them to replace the warthog in the future.
What stick do you use? I've only used Saitek sticks and once I switched to the Warthog I've never looked back. I picked up a set of the T16000s to see if I could find a cheaper stick to recommend to flight sim buddies that aren't as into aviation as I am, and as something more affordable, and have been similarly pleased. Haven't had any issues with either in ... somewhere around six years of pretty heavy use (for the Warthog, T16000 is ~8 months of use).
@@psyrixx I have now a VKB Gunfighter newly bought a few months ago. But before this I have had a cougar which I upgraded to a warthog when it came out. Still have it today (warthog I mean) and it is still working thankfully after about 7 years of use. But it is still working because I always taken care of it, and it is a very maintenance intensive stick in my experience. Lubing it constantly, it is a pain to open up, had to change the O-ring, lube it, sand the gimbal and once a few months you have to reapply lube to it to mantain it's smoothness. Internally the warthog really is cheaply made, out of plastic. So, sadly, after the cougar with it's casted Zink alloy crappy gimbal TM learned nothing and brought to market a slightly improved gimbal still made out of cheap materials and prone to all sorts of defects. I think it is mainly due the way the gimbal is casted and when the molds are starting to wear out the gimbal starts having all sorts of imperfections, that translates to stickiness and prone to cracking. I was lucky with mine after I sanded the joint of the small inside ball and the "2 bolts" I had a very good experience, others around me did not. Comparing the warthog stick to the VKB stick is like night and day, I could not believe how different they are, and how much more smooth and accurate the gunfighter is compared to the Warthog. I really hope TM brings a really good stick to market, as unlike VKB and Virpil they really have a very powerful software. The perfect stick for me would be VKB/Virpil stick with TM software. Somehow also the throttles both cougar and warthog are really well done. But the warthog does have some electrical issues if you are unlucky and can have a bricked throttle.
Interesting, don't know why you're having issues. It's completely plug and play on my end. Do you see a column for them in the control configuration area?
I have two screws in place that the steel base of the TPR is pushing against, but I didn't take the time to mount it properly. That is the same location (and screws, actually!) that I mounted my MFGs to the plank. My Warthog is attached with some ABS Plumbing Pipe (4" diameter) with a screw-off cap for a drain clean out so it can be removed and stored. I'll actually be putting together a video showing some mounting solutions for the TPR pedals for hardwood / carpet / full HOTAS MiniCockpit setups.
Hi there, came across this video and just wondering if this model is compatible with MSFS ‘20. I usually fly the 320 Airbus-Neo and am looking for as much realism as I can infuse into my sim. Thanks for any feedback or recommendations.
thanks for your video- how do they compare to the MFG Crosswind V2 pedals? Do you have a preference over the two? Do the rudder pedals stay in position (like real rudder/anti torque pedals) or do they spring back to a center position? Do you 'feel' the center position like cheaper rudder pedals or nice and smooth? Thanks for your feedback
Some people are modding the TPR by adding a damper on the bank which eliminate the spring action back to center. Also it provides resistance to provide a more real feeling.
@@nexus888 they're really great.. Probably the best and most realistic you can get.. One would expect so at their price.. Great you can modify to respond like rotorcraft anti torque pedals too but I have the pro flight trainer cyclic, collective/throttle and anti torque pedals for rotor craft (I'm a real world licensed heli pilot)
Nice review! But I have one question...are they confortable to use? I ask because I see the feet stand on the floor instead of on the pedals (like other PC rudder pedals).
They are much more realistic to use, so in my opinion they're plenty comfortable! Also easier to push forward and plant a heel into the floor to hold a particular configuration whereas on the flatter pedals you have to keep your legs flexed in position.
Shouldn't be too difficult to mount on a sim rig... has four mounting holes and if you really need to you could mount a couple of pieces of wood to the sim rig and then use a couple of shorter lag bolts to secure this to the wood.
Have not! Have heard nothing but good things about them. :-) Very grateful that Thrustmaster sent me a set of these pedals as I haven't needed or wanted to consider anything else since receiving them - imo they are perfect for what I'm looking for in rudder pedals.
@Deadhorse I have the virpil and I didn´t like it, for me TPR is far better.
@Deadhorse I want the Virpil VFX and these pedals. If it's not obvious I'm a bit of a Tomcat fan!
Please be merciful when you pilot those who have taken alcohol and benzodiazepines together.
Thank you.
Yes, cost prohibitive for most. I make due with Saitek for now. Arrigato.
What would be a good price for the TM Warthhog HOTAS?
Whatever the market price is. I used it for 3 years now, it's really good (has some reaaaally minor flaws to it) but it's good. Those pedals though, are really too expensive especially compared to their counterparts such as MFG Crosswinds or similar.
I got mine for $325 if I remember correctly... Amazon.com usually has them on sale from time to time, so does B&H Photo. Just keep an eye open!
I also bought these rudder pedals and have had then about a month now. They are fantastic. I'm currently in training for my PPL using a Cessna 172-R for the training aircraft. In X-Plane 11 these pedals are very close to the real thing.
They won't slip at all if you use the holes in the stand to screw them to the floor. It also shows your level of commitment to indoor flying ;)
2 years later love that t-shirt! Calvin n Hobbes! also appreciated your review. subbed. just got the warthog 2 piece, looking for good rudders.
To mount on a carpet easily, attach it with a velcro sticky tape. It will not budge unless you lift it up.
If pedals are sliding, and you can't put them against a wall, the easiest fix is a thick MDF base.
Add rubber feet feet for wood floors, and speaker spikes for carpet. Cheap, easy and effective.
Damn you Thrustmaster! Looks like my cockpit needs a $1,000 Warthog/throttle/TPR upgrade...!
The Warthog is definitely NOT gold standard. It has a poor quality plastic gimbal with no bearings. VKB and Virpil both offer far superior sticks.

Best review I’ve seen so far about this product!! Thanks buddy.
If TM could design a set that resembles the F16 style in this quality, I would buy em in a heartbeat. So far my Saitek rudder is the best option
*y e s*
In any case, full disclosure -- don't trust me!
Go to the VKB Website, the VKB Rudder can do Brake now. I perfer the VKB Rudder especially I'm mainly using it for Helicopter Flight
We need to get you some new sneaks. With that being said, I’m really excited about these pedals. Thank you for the review. And idea when they will hit the stores?
I was thinking the price tag was a little steep, but just by looking at the machined pieces, hinges, sensors and stuff, it shure looks like it's well worth the price.
these are not toys...it's pure machine art.
A quality in depth review mate, cheers
MFGs are made in and designed in Croatia not in Italy. Other than that thanks for your point of view.
Thanks I have the TFRP ones now paired with a warthog hotas and these look like a great upgrade
@@psyrixx here I am in 2022 giving up on my Charlie’s, watching your video to see if these will be a good alternative. 😢
Bought the TPR pedals, then a buddy brought his virpil ace over for me to use. Sold the TPR's as soon as the virpils showed up. No regrets.
How do you compare the Vipril Ace? New to fsim, and deciding between these two
@ryfocus7241 the tpr were ok but I needed the mod that added the little shock to tighten them up as they were was too loose for my liking. I added another spring to the ace pedals and they have a better feel.
I just bought the Logitech Saitek
Pro G pedals.
I would have still bought them if I knew about these prior. These are more than 3 times the cost of my pedals.
I do wish the pedals I brought had a stronger return to center.
You gotta do what works best for your setup! :)
Thank you. Excellent summary.
Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder Pedals? My next PC parts upgrade after using CH Rudder Pedals for 9 years, thanks for good review.
Man you sure make a good review, thank you.
Love the review, but where are the follow up vids that were promised?
1:24 I have sn: 2484 and is the same design as your's. True mine didn't failed yet but I guess I need to look for a replacement before that happen. I was not aware of this issue.
Mine are 0085, still work amazingly well. :) I'm not sure how did he break his MFG's. Btw, there is no comparison to VKB/Virpil designs. Additionally, IIRC, MFG's use hall sensors as well
i took the plunge, right now i'm using a pedal for pressing CTRL >....<
i just got this so i can strafe up and down and roll smooth might start using stick instead of keyboard this weekend for playing star citzien, just smaller flight ships the damn thing feels janky using keyboard even if i got analogue keys,
Yeah, I'm really stuck. The only other pedals I use are the VKB T-Rudder Mk-IV.....those are perfect for me save for the lack of toe brakes. I know these would be a cut above, but without the rest of the hardware (yoke, etc...) of equal quality it's kind of hard to take them on.
Well said review. I ordered one.
Wasn’t this stuff in exhibit hangar B, I checked out the thrustmaster booth and got to test these with the fighter simulator they had set up, these were by far the best simulator pedals I have ever used and the price is the only downside
Yep! That's where they were!
7:12 Curious because MFG use the same kind of HALL sensor (Melexis) than Thrustmaster.
Yes they are worth every penny!
I just bought a unit, and its worth every bit.
just brought em cheers
I use the Logitech Pro Flight rudder pedals and while they worked as a starting point in my flight sim adventures I've begun to hate them after about a year of use. They're plastic, lightweight, flimsy and the tension system is pathetic. Not to mention they swivel side to side rather forward and back like the TPR pedals do. Looking forward to upgrading in the future to the TPR pedals, thanks for the review.
4 years later, price is the same. Picking these up today.
Still using mine and absolutely love them. Solid piece of kit!
New to your channel, I use a 3/4” piece of plywood cut to (lay on floor) fit between back edge of pedals and wall…. They never move
That's exactly my solution as well!
Damn!! I love your shirt bro 🤌
Put a cheap rubber anti slide mat under the pedals. The ones people put under their doormats.
Have you ever seen the rx viper by slaw device? They're I'm a similar price bracket
Captain, thanks for your tutorial, I have a question, I checked the Thrustmaster TPR, when turning fully to the left and the same to the right, the rudder or the front tire of the plane only turns 10%, what could be happening in my configuration How can you help me?
im so late to the party about these. they took forever to makes these and never fixed their broken hotas. my MFGs which might be 2nd gen are still like new
Has anyone tried this on the Xbox Series X complimented with the Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke ED?
Great review man... now to cut more lawns so I can fly in first class lol
Lmao, I’m gonna have to put more Overtime for this but it looks like it’s worth it. Might as well get the best
When it comes to getting quality gear, Buy once🤑💸, cry once😭...
These also work on the Xbox. You need the Boeing yoke and throttle. Plug it into the throttle and it works!!!
Can these be connected to with a radio transmitter like RadioMaster Tx16S?
@@psyrixx thanks
Is there a good online store to buy flight sim gear other than amazon?
I am trying to find out if these would be compatible with the new Xbox coming out
What is that thing you have at the bottom of your Warthog stick? Looks like a relatively cheap way of center mounting your joystick.
According to your shirt you will have a blast in Star Wars Squadrons tomorrow using them :-D
I'm looking forward to it!! Does it have rudder support in the game though?

Yes, dial in that rezoostance, lol
Could you measure the width at their widest point? I think they may be too wide for my Ozone cockpit but I would love to be wrong. If I'm wrong, then I'm definitely going to be buying this.
Looks really appealing, I really like the metal and all, but damn, more than double the price of the MFG...
I'll just save you all the time...yes, these are completely worth it. I had a set for a brief while and damn I was impressed. But why take my word for it? Get a set from Amazon and try them out, and then return them, free of charge. I did.
I got these because they are much closer to the helo pedals which is what I fly most.
What are your thoughts? I'm still loving them, they feel very close to the real thing!
So yeah I am a fan lol and last but certainly not least is the fact that they seem to be pretty bullet-proof because I am really tough on hardware and have destroyed a lot of joysticks and throttles in my sim days but these things seem to hold up like they are fresh out of the box and that was also a surprise because usually, pedals are "sticky" when new then they slowly get broke in and smooth out until finally getting loose and innacurate but these were smooth right out of the box and amazingly still are.
thanks for the video. are these compatible with the ThrustMaster T.16000M FCS Hotas.
What is the pedal end to pedal end width?
You get what you pay for I expect These pedals will last for years I imagine. Would love to see a cpmparison between these and the RUDDO pedals from Virtual Fly. Now those are REALLY expensive.
What is the height of the center base? Looks like about 13 inches?
Have you used this on msfs 2020 yet?
HI ..DO THEY WORK WITH Apple Mac IOS CATALINA ..????
TANXX
What kind of game is that please thanks.
Are the pedals much wider apart than on a Cessna 152 or 172? Seems they are quite a distance apart from each other on the video, but might be hard to judge.
They're a little wider apart, yes; however, in practice I honestly don't notice it.
I want that shirt!
If you search for Calvin & Hobbes Chewie there are similar shirts available through Amazon.com. It's one of my favorites!
Why do you find them not adapted for desktop use?
i couldn´t set them up with DCS. I have no Idea what I am doing wrong? Its no plug and play
Interesting, don't know why you're having issues. It's completely plug and play on my end. Do you see a column for them in the control configuration area?
Curious how they match up to Redbird pedals?
6:47 TPR is bolted to this wood plank?
I have two screws in place that the steel base of the TPR is pushing against, but I didn't take the time to mount it properly. That is the same location (and screws, actually!) that I mounted my MFGs to the plank. My Warthog is attached with some ABS Plumbing Pipe (4" diameter) with a screw-off cap for a drain clean out so it can be removed and stored. I'll actually be putting together a video showing some mounting solutions for the TPR pedals for hardwood / carpet / full HOTAS MiniCockpit setups.
Anyone know if these are compatible with my saitek flight yoke?
They 100% are compatible with your Saitek yoke.
@@psyrixx thank you!
They’re be compatible with anything. It’s funny how you have the best top of the line rudder but you have the worst yoke on the market. Lol
Hi there, came across this video and just wondering if this model is compatible with MSFS ‘20. I usually fly the 320 Airbus-Neo and am looking for as much realism as I can infuse into my sim. Thanks for any feedback or recommendations.
Yep! These work very well with MSFS '20, X-Plane, DCS World, etc. 🙂
thanks for your video- how do they compare to the MFG Crosswind V2
pedals? Do you have a preference over the two? Do the rudder pedals stay
in position (like real rudder/anti torque pedals) or do they spring
back to a center position? Do you 'feel' the center position like
cheaper rudder pedals or nice and smooth? Thanks for your feedback
Some people are modding the TPR by adding a damper on the bank which eliminate the spring action back to center. Also it provides resistance to provide a more real feeling.
@@nexus888 got a link to more info on this mod please? I've since had the TPR pedals all this time..
@@justinspirational how do you find the pedals? Would you recommend them over other alternatives?
@@nexus888 they're really great.. Probably the best and most realistic you can get.. One would expect so at their price.. Great you can modify to respond like rotorcraft anti torque pedals too but I have the pro flight trainer cyclic, collective/throttle and anti torque pedals for rotor craft (I'm a real world licensed heli pilot)
Do you happen to know if the TPR peddles will work on a Mac running XPlane?
I don't see why they wouldn't yet I can give it a shot this evening and report back. :-)
Do you think these will work with the alpha flights controls honey comb yoke?
Ex0 I currently use them with the Honeycomb Alpha
Robert Sogomonian Oh okay :) Thanks
Nice review! But I have one question...are they confortable to use?
I ask because I see the feet stand on the floor instead of on the pedals (like other PC rudder pedals).
They are much more realistic to use, so in my opinion they're plenty comfortable! Also easier to push forward and plant a heel into the floor to hold a particular configuration whereas on the flatter pedals you have to keep your legs flexed in position.
Robert, are there attachment points anywhere on those pedals that work well with the wheel stand pro?
Not familiar with the wheel stand pro, but the pedals do have four mounting holes on the base.
Would this work on the PS4 thrust master
How possible is it to mount on a sim rig?
Shouldn't be too difficult to mount on a sim rig... has four mounting holes and if you really need to you could mount a couple of pieces of wood to the sim rig and then use a couple of shorter lag bolts to secure this to the wood.
Thank you for this review. I'll consider these. (the price is ..HOT!🔥 )
@ 6:30 Man, you're just like me: you and I need a better cable management! 😁🤣
I think everyone needs better cable management!
PS....in UK on EBay £490 !!!! Game Set & Match to MFG !
Have you tried the vkb pedals? They put all pedals to shame. And for a 3rd of the cost, they’re WEEELLLLLLL worth it.
Have not! Have heard nothing but good things about them. :-) Very grateful that Thrustmaster sent me a set of these pedals as I haven't needed or wanted to consider anything else since receiving them - imo they are perfect for what I'm looking for in rudder pedals.
id just use heavy duty velcro and put something behind it
Can you make a video on how you made that tube for your hotas jystick??
I can definitely make a video on how I made that! And it's an *excellent* and inexpensive mounting solution.
Thank you!
Same. Thank you subbed. I have an obutto R3v and cant figure out how im going to mount at an offset angle center stick.
You sold me.
