Kamala never had my vote but, the moment I watched her step off of Air Force one and barely salute our Marines, the very second she called our fallen soldiers, "folks." My back is completely turned on that woman.

From what I understand, steel making in Pennsylvania collapsed in the 1980's due , in part , to obsolete facilities. Unions complained that the company didn't invest $$. In 2024 these aging facilities need investment to upgrade however the union is mostly against it.
Note, that no US company is willing to take on US Steel, why is that?

The creaziest thing is for say cereal to be made In the US and the boxes used to store and market the cereal comes from overseas. This was real evident during all the backups at the ports after Covid, couldn't even get products made gere because an ingredient was shipped from overseas as weith canned cat food. It is ridiculous.
Yeah, we need to get all the stuff we consume to be made right here. That way we know it's safe, we know we can get it when we need it and we're not sending money to our enemies. It might end up costing a little more. But it'll be worth it.

I'm torn with tariffs... I completely get and think it is a good idea to tariff "most things" from let's say China and as well to tariff certain things from most other places like let's say vehicles manufactured in Mexico that could otherwise be manufactured here, but I'm not so on board with tariffing products unique to other countries like Japanese knives from Japan and so forth... hopefully the general point comes across. Ultimately for me it would come down to the specifics of the policy and how it will be implemented.
All that said, I need to look more into the general concept/subject of tariffs... I don't feel as adequately informed about the subject as I would like to be.

I plan to retire at 62 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life. A country without a manufacturing base cannot defend itself in times of war. If you are dependent upon supply lines running across borders and oceans you are extremely vulnerable and at a huge disadvantage to those hostile nations that have a strong manufacturing base. Remember, the US was the country that had the manufacturing base that armed both Britain and the Soviet Union during World War 2, as well as our own military. And an economy that isn’t based upon manufacturing real products will eventually be overrun by others or simply collapse.
Military and medicine need to be manufactured in the USA for national security.

Jobs can be brought back. Lowering corporate tax rates is just one incentive. However many people like AOC claims that it is a tax break for the rich. That is true since poor people don't create jobs, they create need for jobs. The stark reality is regardless of whether the job pays minimum wage or any of the various union rates, as long as housing costs remain high, as well as everything else, it will be hard for most everyone, except AOC, Hollywood and so on.
