- Watch the official music video for "Girlfriend" by The Darkness.
Released as the third single from their second studio album, "One Way Ticket to Hell... And Back", on 22 May 2006, it was the band's last single before their five-year disbandment later that year.
The song is written from the perspective of a man who has cheated on his girlfriend with another woman. He tells his now angry girlfriend in the first verse that the other girl meant nothing to him. In the second verse he admits that the relationship is over and his once girlfriend is now his ex.
The music video for the song is inspired by the film Flashdance.

The verses are that good that I actually like them more than the chorus.
The verses are much better, especially the descending 4 bars x 2 that start the verses. The chorus is mainly filler but still completes the song nicely.
I’m normally for only 50s to 90s but this is a rare 21st century band that was awesome and this song is actually legit! The riffs are killer

When I 1st heard Love is Only A Feeling, I couldnt stand these cats. Especially that freakn high pitched singing, but then I heard it again and again and the next thing I knew, these guys became one of my faves. Last album was even betr than the last one.

I discovered this band when i was 12 years old and also bought this album.. Iron Maiden, The Darkness and AC/DC were bands that got me into rock and metal music... Awesome band!!

What a fun band with an eclectic sound. Their 4 albums have had some far-out jams. I think that "Girlfriend" is tied with "English Country Garden" as the craziest of all their songs! So fun, love this song!
