I loved my HTC Desire back in the day. Even to the point of increasing its lifespan by a new battery and custom ROM.. Nothing beat HTC for ease of installing ROMs
The M8 was one of the nicest smartphones I ever used. I worked for AT&T during the release. I never had issues with returns on it, like other android stuff. Up until that phone, if you didn’t sell an iPhone or a Samsung phone, it would be a problem/return. The M8 changed that. Seeing that box definitely brought back memories. Thanks Denki
That M8 was my first real smart phone and I loved it, absolutely loved it. This is probably the only item I have ever bought that will be featured on Denki
I currently own and am still rocking the HTC U12+ and let me tell you, there is nothing like the epic edgesense features. I still have my u11 but the u12 took gestures to the next level. better and quicker and more intuitive than Motorola. you can squeeze to open any app or quick toggle the flashlight airplane mode any setting and on top of that you had squeeze actions within apps, mind blowing tech, Also you could double tap either side to actuate another function or additional app, AMAZING. The HTC U12+ is the best smartphone I've ever used and I constantly have had buyers remorse and sell or return all if not most modern smartphones I've picked up. I've gone through Samsung flips and folds and Motorola razr, and even my favorite oneplus; I've ended up feeling mehh because these devices still cant bring the wow factor for me. The HTC u11 and 12+ are the most remarkable smartphones ever made. once you experience edge sense, it almost makes it impossible to enjoy any other device.
You took me down memory lane. I owned two HTC G1s (black and white) and the HTC One M8 with stock Android. I loved the M8, it had great sounding speakers and a great UI. That was the reason I have been attracted into the Google lineup and currently have Pixels. They just work without much fuss and their Android experience is just clean.
I should have known Denki was a hypebeast. Love the hat! Great video btw. Loved my M8! Though, I REALLY miss my T-Mobile Sidekick.

6:12 There was also Airplay support. HTC phones after the deal had Airplay support, and it was something they didn't advertise much, but was a handy feature to have.
My last android phone was the M7, and i loved that thing. Verizon kinda screwed with it a bit, and i switched from it to iPhone afterwards due to carriers having control over updates. Glad you are taking a look at the M8.
Love the HTC one! My wife and I both had one and it even had 3D photos! I miss the all metal unibody. Still had a case on it every day of it's life but what a cool aesthetic that still isn't duplicated today. I know it's because of wireless charging but I'd love to a company incorporate an all metal once again!
I still own mine. I put on a custom launcher that makes it look like a zune and use it as a media player. The replaceable battery makes it still a very viable option to do all sorts of things with.
The Sidekick 1 and 2, G1 and G2 were some of the best phones I ever had. 100% bringing back memories. Can you do a review on the father of modern day texting (The Skytel 2way pager)?
Back in the early days I was on virgin mobile and got my first android phone. It was an HTC One V. Even today it is my favorite phone!! I wish they'd come back. I cried a bit watching this. It really was a beloved brand.
Obviously not an HTC, but I had a Blackberry Priv my freshman year of college, and I absolutely loved it. The physical keyboard was so nice to have. Fun to type on, worked as a trackpad, and you set up shortcuts for each individual key. Too bad it go stuck in a boot cycle and Im not smart enough to fix it
Man, I still remember the G1 launch. Ported from Verizon to get it. Then, my next favorite Android launch was the HD2. Such a fascinating time for smartphones!
I had an HTC Desire(can't remember the model number) that I bought at Walmart around 2015 for about $240. While I really liked the overall setup and UI, it ran hot often. Like I could've fried an egg on the back and literally had to turn the phone off to cool it down to even do basics. It was good on most tasks but that massive overheating permanently soured me on the HTC brand overall.
I miss HTC so much. My first smartphone ever was the HTC Status which I still love till this day with it's unique form factor and quirkiness. Then I moved to the HTC One X+ which was cutting edge at the time. Eventually I got the HTC Desire Eye (there's a forgotten one) that I used for EIGHT YEARS and it still works perfectly today! Eventually I had to switch brands since I couldn't get HTCs anymore and went to ZTE. I got the Axon M dual screen thing and it was fun and novel for awhile but got annoying at the time because I had to use the camera alot for my job. Swapped that out for a ZTE Axon 10 Pro which was incredible with it's 12GB of RAM but ZTE's got banned in the US and AT&T wouldn't let me use it on their network anymore after they ended 3G support even though I had been using that phone on 4G for a while already. Bounced from OnePlus to Samsung and am currently using a Flip 5 (which the novelty is wearing off of) so I'm probably gonna go back to my S21 Ultra.
front firing dual stereo speakers, a crisp display and one of the best cameras of its time, i am really missing my desire 820 even with its heating problems
Myself favorite phones were the Sidekick 2 & 3. The keyboards were top notch for quick texts. I've never been able to type as fast on a virtual keyboard.
I had to sadly get rid of my M8 the other day... After many years of custom ROMs, it was finally bested by the spicy pillow from within. My S22 Ultra is obviously "better," but it just isn't the same. The M8 was such a satisfying hunk of metal: It passed all the vibe checks.
honestly a htc one m8 with updated internals would be a perfect phone today. I do not care about slim bezels, or having the thinnest most powerful phone. What i loved was the simplicity, and elgancy of design on the hardware and software combined. A different era for sure . I recently bought a proper new in box m8, it was so cool getting to open it up and play with one on the original OS, next is finding one of the (M8 for windows phone) versions!
I loved selling HTC phones to customers. The phone was so nice and the quality was insane for the price. The UI was a great experience as well. Totally forgot about them until this video
2014 is when I got into smartphones. Some great phones from Samsung, LG, and HTC. I bought the Note 4 in 2014 (I also always wanted the Note 4 Edge) I loved that phone and still have it. Always loved the speakers on the one m8 though and wish others adapted it.
I still have my htc one m9 and htc one max. I wish that htc made a modern specs version of the htc one m9 and htc one max with larger capacity battery like 5,000 mah, 256gb as the base storage capacity, while still retaining the boom sound front facing speakers, use usb c, the headphone jack but have a hifi dac, micro sd card slot, physical sim card slot and have full 5g support. My first htc phone was the htc one m7. The snapdragon 600 on the htc one m7 and other android phones that used the snapdragon 600 was considered a flagship processor during that era before the snapdragon 700 and 800 became more available on newer models of phones. Nowadays, the snapdragon 600 series processors are considered mid range processors. I miss the era of android phones that used the micro usb port because there was so many variety of android phones from a bunch of manufacturers. The manufacturers were willing to try out new things and try taking risks to make there phones different from each other. All the modern phones look the same. The modern htc phones are midrange phones like the htc u23 pro and htc u24 pro that uses the mid range processors. However, the 2 htc phones that I mentioned looks like the rest of the modern android phones. I use the sony xperia 1iv as my primary android phone and the lg V30 as my portable hi res audio player due to its hifi quad dac. I miss when lg made phones with there hifi dac chips in them.
I remember the One M8. I wanted to get the Windows edition since it was announced. Took me back to memory lane when I was rocking Nokia and Microsoft phones, and everyone was asking what phone was I holding and "Is that a Windows Phone?" Good times.
I only ever had one HTC phone and that was the Wildfire in the UK. I loved that little cheeky phone. Had fun rooting it to the moon. I wanted a Desire so badly too. In the states they weren't as common to see unfortunately
i rember the htc one m8 i think its one of the best smartphone thats ever stereo speakers on front and the metal back was really the 2 best things wish they still make the metal back on todays phone and the htc was really fast for its age it was times back then thanks for a good video mate :)
0:04 wow it's the hobbyist vtuber shigure UI🎉 Man I remember the M8 and my friend bought it and everyone in class was shocked by how cool it looks dwarfing my Xperia Z2 back then
I had HTC M8 back in the day and I loved it. I have the U23 Pro as a side device but its not really the same. I miss the front facing speaker and the UI is pretty much the same as what you get on the pixel/sony/motorola etc..
I miss three things. One: My windows phone. I had a Lumia 520, later i wanted a 1020 because of its' photo capabilities, but MS let the os dry out and die, they rather choose to leak in the play store and now everyone uses MS Office on their smart devices. I really loved how well optimised the WP8 system was, it never slowed down on me, and even though it had a 5Mp camera, you could take really really great pictures with it. With less hardware it outperformed the android counterpart Xperia phones. Lovely little soapbox. The other one is innovation in design. Ever since smartphones started to sell better, we only have glass slabs and a somewhat generic body. It is BORING! I was so hyped when the LG G5 and the Wing debuted, those ideas were totally great, and i really loved their quirkiness too. Later on Xiaomi came with similarly cool ideas like the Mi Mix 2 that had its camera at the bottom of the screen, or the Mi Mix Alpha concept that was totally a game changer. But today nobody wants to make a unique designed phone, because it would not sell well. Moto keeps the flame on, and Huawei really jumped a huge step with the trifold phone, but maaan i would kill for a great design phone. The third one is the compact form factor. Asus heard the calls of people who do not want a phone that only can be used with two hands because nowadays phones are as big as a tablet :D It is more safe if you have a compact phone that can handle the task just as well if not better than a huge screened phone. Foldables kinda makes a bridge on this gap if we look on the new Razr, but is still a long way to be totally enjoyable.
The htc one m8 was my first smartphone after i broke my ipod, everything about it was premium and never had a single problem with it, i still have it in my old phone cabinet and while it still works it is very very slow now.
HTC, Motorolla and now the Ulefone, are my prefered phone brands. Great qualtiy for price offering. Their upper mid phones beat a lot of top end phones.
The T-mobile G1 was my first Android phone. I loved that thing, but the G2 was my favorite one, with its aluminum chassis, it gave it a nice heft and was sturdy as hell. I remember once a co-worker of mine accidentally swatted her hand, which hit my phone off my hand, causing it to fall to the floor screen first. Miraculously, the screen didn't crack and nothing else broke thankfully. I wish phone makers would go back to taking risks with unique designs, to make things competitive again.
i had a one m7 and an m9 before inevitably going to galaxy for obvious reasons. that metal body, great speakers, god i could go on. the galaxies at the time were just so plastic they not only looked cheap but felt it. the one FELT premium, like the iphones at the time and it was nice to be "different" in a world torn between galaxy and iphone.
HTC g2 to this day is my favorite phone I've ever owned. It was back in the days of single core processors for android devices. But with the right software it's single core overclocked so high that it out performed almost every dual core CPU that came out in the following couple of years. It performed substantially better than the original Nexus devices that HTC also released that year. Full qwerty keyboard with a really satisfying mechanism. Aluminum back plate. Good screen for it's era. Was a killer device. Rooted I continued using it well into the quad core generations of CPU's and didn't actually upgrade until I picked up a nextbit robin when those went on sale stupid cheap after they announced when the servers for the remote storage were going to go end of life.
Ah man, I miss my red M8. One of the best phones i’ve ever had. It was practically perfect in everything except the camera. The weak camera was ultimately the reason I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S6, which was also a solid phone at the time.
i still remember my G1. the moment i saw that widgets were able to be placed on the home screen i knew exactly where this was going. took iphones a few years before they got there
My favorite phone I've ever owned was the Samsung Galaxy Epic. Like the Tmobile G1 here, it, too, had a slide out keypad. It was a great phone. Didn't have the lip at the bottom like the G1. Was also a bit bigger. My sister had the HTC Evo 3D. She never used the 3D part of it, but she LOVED that phone so much.
tbh, they could add back chin and forehead SPECIFICALLY FOR forward facing speakers, and just make the screen go right to the edge of the speakers. I would not complain.
Thumbs up if you think that they should drop a limited release of a M8 Remake... Maybe slimmer bezels and a 120hz OLED, best possible camera upgrade allowable without changing the design and flagship internals. Kinda like what they do for retro games.
i had that HTC phone, really love the speaker and the design of its time, the problem is that it has a camera purple problem and its been an issue by most of the people on that device
I used to have a HTC Desire 510 that I chose over the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo, I shouldve taken the S3 cause it was a lot more powerful but tbh I was just wayyy into how htc's OS looked. It was way better than any other android at the time and still loks very sleek.
The only thing that always bothered me about the m8 is the placement of the "buttons". If you look at the m7 and m4 (mini) they had the back and home buttons on the bezel that contains the HTC-logo, while the m8 puts them on the screen, like why? The bezel is still there, it'd make the appearance much cleaner, by giving that bezel a purpose again and make the screen less cluttered
When i saw you holding that particular silver HTC, my PTSD kicked in, that phone is a freaking horror movie to me, it haunted me all through my use, 😂😂😂😂😂
Wasn’t there a One M8 google play edition? I recall like drooling over it when I was a young teenager. I personally had the T-Mobile G-2 with the Z hinge lol. It opened forward then up.
I've had a lot of phones, busted a replaced quite a few. This one is the only phone I've ever BOUGHT 3x over in every variation. HTC used to be top of the game.
I certainly don't need one, but Im quite nostalgic for MP3 players. Iv'e never own an ipod, except a shuffle that i loved, but I still kind of want one...
u should profile the LG G2X, the 1st dual core processor smartphone in america. & the processor was a nvidia tegra! tmobile exclusive i think. my 1st smartphone!

This is the thing smartphones have peaked been peaked thats why LG kept trying new things there only so much you can do
That M8!!! Memories of making my coworkers jealous because they couldn't hear their videos or music as good as I did!! 🤣🤣🤣
I loved my HTC Desire back in the day. Even to the point of increasing its lifespan by a new battery and custom ROM.. Nothing beat HTC for ease of installing ROMs

Man this era of phones was so fun. I had got my Nexus 4 goin into high school. Watching all the nexus, Galazy S3 and HTC videos was a good time!
The HTC One was peak smartphone. Still one of my favorite phones I ever had.
The M7 was my first flagship smartphone ever. I still have mine somewhere back home awaiting for me to boot it up...
The M8 was by far my favorite phone ever. I had 3 of them and when I broke my iphone, I actually went out and bought another years later.
I loved my HTC when I had it! Clear, crisp sound for video and audio and that was all I needed lol
I will never forget working at Verizon and being a part of the HTC advocate program and getting that Gem of a phone for free. I miss my HTC M8 and Max
2:02 Thanks for letting me know there was a new Hololive Among Us collab recently. Completely missed it!
The ayame and lui combo imp there was fucking good
HTC was quite popular back then. I had the One M8 and I liked it 💯💯💯💯
I had both the HTC One M7 and M8. Peak Android. I’ve been using an iPhone since then.
I still miss my M8. If they made it again, same chassis (including the headphone jack) but just newer internals, I’d love to pick one up.
Love the M8. Felt wonderful in the hand and it was so sleek. It was a really beautiful phone 👍
I loved HTC, it’s great to see them back but I doubt they will ever get the same recognition for the HTC one M8
The HTC u11 and 12+ are the most remarkable smartphones ever made. once you experience edge sense, it almost makes it impossible to enjoy any other device.
man mine just broke. I'm htc for life. I'm looking at a u24 ultra right now
@DGKonkrete go with a OnePlus
@@mikejames6588 how old is that?
@DGKonkrete look into OnePlus devices. The 12 12r excellent devices. I prefer OnePlus as it's features remind me of htc
I had the HTC EVO my self. My dad has the HTC One M8. We both loved them.
HTC was my favorite. I had the G1 and G2. Loved their physical keyboards. Loved the build quality.
I should have known Denki was a hypebeast. Love the hat! Great video btw. Loved my M8!

"Stereo speakers, specially rare this days"
Me watching from an Xperia 1 V 🗿

lol same - Xperia 1 VI
Love the HTC one! My wife and I both had one and it even had 3D photos! I miss the all metal unibody. I loved my M8, that phone felt so premium
HTC's mobile division was acquired by Google and is now probably still exists under the Google umbrella building the Pixel line now.
The HTC M8 had 2 crazy booming front facing speakers and a all metal material build. How in the world is the m8 similar to that iPhone?
I miss my LG V20 phone best phone I ever owned.
I still own mine. I put on a custom launcher that makes it look like a zune and use it as a media player. The replaceable battery makes it still a very viable option to do all sorts of things with.
I had an LG G4. I miss it so much. I sold it and upgraded to LG G6 and had to get rid of it, because the PWM from the oled gave me headaches.
(That was back in 2018)
The Sidekick 1 and 2, G1 and G2 were some of the best phones I ever had. 100% bringing back memories. Can you do a review on the father of modern day texting (The Skytel 2way pager)?
that HTC M8 didn't aged a day...
still beautiful to this day... hope they make a revival of that phone, with modern component/specs and screen..
HTC one m8 was the best sounding smart phone, had a bass top speaker and a normal speaker at the bottom. I really loved that phone
I still have my G2 and M8 somewhere. Loved both of those phones.

What’s Tom Hollands best friend from spider man doing tech reviews for 😅
This could literally be revived today and be a hit.
@@amir.rodz3 Absolutely. Modern specs, bigger screen, only boomsound speakers at top and bottom. I’d buy.
HTC never made a good phone, the M8 sucked compared to its contemporaries, good riddance to a horrible company that couldn't ever design a good phone

I wish you would have mentioned the HTC HD2. That was what started to get HTC going!
I had an HTC One M7 in a bestt buy edition blue color and it was the talk of the town, I miss that phone to this day
I miss three things.

i had a one m7 and an m9 before inevitably going to galaxy for obvious reasons. that metal body, great speakers, god i could go on. the galaxies at the time were just so plastic they not only looked cheap but felt it. the one FELT premium, like the iphones at the time and it was nice to be "different" in a world torn between galaxy and iphone.
The weak camera was ultimately the reason I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S6, which was also a solid phone at the time.
i still remember my G1. the moment i saw that widgets were able to be placed on the home screen i knew exactly where this was going. took iphones a few years before they got there
HTC One X used to be my dream phone because they use Tegra. I always loved this chipset, really hope one day Tegra will be back for smartphones again
I really do miss HTC. I've had so many great ones from them.
Nice vid mate
Loved my M8. I had the blue color and put the Google Edition rom on it. I miss it and wish I could still use one today.
Good job on this video
I owned an HTC Butterfly, it was so beautiful and such an amazing phone. Sad HTC is no more in smartphone race.
I used to own the HTC One M9+. It had really good sound.
HTC m8 also had a windows edition, aside from Google play edition and Stock edition. That's how awesome it is.
tbh, they could add back chin and forehead SPECIFICALLY FOR forward facing speakers, and just make the screen go right to the edge of the speakers. I would not complain.
Great video can u make one on LG
I think what the U24 should've been is an anniversary "tribute" device that used the same body style of the M8 but with modern firmware and parts.
0:49 that was a great phone, it would be nice to have a modern one...
When i saw you holding that particular silver HTC, my PTSD kicked in, that phone is a freaking horror movie to me, it haunted me all through my use, 😂😂😂😂😂
that "team" makes the pixel now

Wasn’t there a One M8 google play edition? I recall like drooling over it when I was a young teenager. I personally had the T-Mobile G-2 with the Z hinge lol. It opened forward then up.
I've had a lot of phones, busted a replaced quite a few. This one is the only phone I've ever BOUGHT 3x over in every variation. HTC used to be top of the game.
The G1 was such a bas ass phone when it came out.- The flip out screen and the roller ball were so satisfying to use - loved that phone
I certainly don't need one, but Im quite nostalgic for MP3 players. Iv'e never own an ipod, except a shuffle that i loved, but I still kind of want one...
In 2013 the phone I was using was the LG G2 it had the best camera for the time from any other phone on the market .
HTC is a good lesson for all the tech companies out there what not to do when you get to the top.
I had a Motorola hiptop slide and a htc , definitely had more fun with those phones than with what’s out now ..make tech fun again
u should profile the LG G2X, the 1st dual core processor smartphone in america. & the processor was a nvidia tegra! tmobile exclusive i think. my 1st smartphone!
For me the most legendary HTC phone is and will always be the HTC HD2 it was one of the only phones that could run android and windows
