Ah, Gotcha! So I start with a point I'm comfortable with based on the size of my bets to give me some room to play for a bonus before a potential bust-out for a video. It really doesn't affect wins or losses overall though. Of course there are those other times that I just flat out lose as you tend to do in slots. Hope that helps!

There are slot channels out there that are very successful due to the cleverly entertaining commentary, which is grounded in the reality that the odds are not in your favor. The shock when you win is believable. It's something to be aware of. No offense meant.

And I'm sorry, I can't agree that most people think you can win at slots over time, or even a small percentage. I hear this from people who of course have a different opinion, but then think "others" will be ignorant and just not know the truth. Do you personally know ANYONE who thinks this? I don't, and I bet you don't either. Ultimately we can agree to disagree on these topics, and that's cool. And yeah, if you take a few steps back you probably can understand that I'm just trying to make a successful RUclips channel: I don't have all the answers but have found an audience. Most seem to enjoy my commentary which isn't scripted or anything it's just what I'm feeling as a player. You seem to imply I'm not being genuine and that's too bad, as I'm being 100% genuine. Fair point. However, I disagree with you that most slots do not employ the near miss structure in order to induce maximum addiction. Show me one slot that you think doesn't and I will show you how it does. Most do. And most do it in subtle ways. Take this game for example. Why does each reel bounce just a bit lower before it stops? Almost every slot uses this motion. Why? Why should we care what symbols land just off the edge of the screen when they don't matter? They want you to see extra symbols that don't affect the win. They want you to see that you were only one away from that third bonus symbol...that it was right there just off the screen...because it costs the machine nothing, but it induces an urge to just keep trying. They want you to know how close you came, when the reality is that it's probably better for the customer if they DIDN'T get that extra temptation to keep going. It would be much easier for problem gamblers to stay within their boundaries if a dead spin only appears as such, and not a near miss. I'm not implying at all that you are this type, but you can't deny the slots are engineered to exploit human nature in this fashion.
Well, on mechanical reel slots there certainly is a "near miss" structure that occurs although on most video slots, it's really not the case that it's done deliberately. We can agree to disagree. I'm not going to get into a back-and-forth on this, but check out the "wizard of odds" website if you want a further explanation - Michael is the foremost industry expert on gambling. And I'm sorry, I can't agree that most people think you can win at slots over time, or even a small percentage. I hear this from people who of course have a different opinion, but then think "others" will be ignorant and just not know the truth. Do you personally know ANYONE who thinks this? I don't, and I bet you don't either. Ultimately we can agree to disagree on these topics, and that's cool. And yeah, if you take a few steps back you probably can understand that I'm just trying to make a successful RUclips channel: I don't have all the answers but have found an audience. Most seem to enjoy my commentary which isn't scripted or anything it's just what I'm feeling as a player. You seem to imply I'm not being genuine and that's too bad, as I'm being 100% genuine. I love to play and I love to win when I can. I can appreciate feedback as I certainly don't have all of the answers but why not do it without the snark, right? Thank you!
Fair point. However, I disagree with you that most slots do not employ the near miss structure in order to induce maximum addiction. Show me one slot that you think doesn't and I will show you how it does. Most do. And most do it in subtle ways. Take this game for example. Why does each reel bounce just a bit lower before it stops? Almost every slot uses this motion. Why? Why should we care what symbols land just off the edge of the screen when they don't matter? They want you to see extra symbols that don't affect the win. They want you to see that you were only one away from that third bonus symbol...that it was right there just off the screen...because it costs the machine nothing, but it induces an urge to just keep trying. They want you to know how close you came, when the reality is that it's probably better for the customer if they DIDN'T get that extra temptation to keep going. It would be much easier for problem gamblers to stay within their boundaries if a dead spin only appears as such, and not a near miss. I'm not implying at all that you are this type, but you can't deny the slots are engineered to exploit human nature in this fashion.
Well, on mechanical reel slots there certainly is a "near miss" structure that occurs although on most video slots, it's really not the case that it's done deliberately. We can agree to disagree. To answer your question on the "bounce" mechanic is that sure, they want you to see but that doesn't mean it's deliberately done with bonus symbols, for example. Watch my More More Hearts videos as good examples and you'll see that it's not overdone in any way. Ultimately slots are designed to keep you playing and the best ones do so by giving you a chance to win in the short term and are entertaining when doing so. It's pretty hard to accomplish with a really good balance.

@@Thebigpayback I was thinking o may have cashed out at $1500 LOL. I usually play $500 sessions on Dragon Links and have done to $2 denom $10-$50 spins. Very fun, but also super fast with only $500. LOL
