Gotta love ol jimmy. I had a VHS tape full of Jimmy Houston episodes when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s and I swear, I watched that thing so many times that I ruined it to where I couldn't even watch it anymore. After constantly adjusting the tracking quit working I finally had to give up on it. I was completely obsessed with bass fishing when I was a kid(still am really) and Jimmy helped me to learn how to use a baitcaster when I was 7. I just had to learn how to untangle backslashes and know when it was hopeless and to cut the damn thing out and start over. When I observe my own children now I marvel at how patient I was when I was their age. I feel like it's my duty as a father to take them fishing and try and show them what I love about it so that maybe I can impart some of that patience and calm it took for me to spend hours sometimes searching out the pattern it would take for that particular day or (even though I don't do this now) spend hours teasing a giant female bass on the nest (bed) into finally attacking my lure. Kids today have very little patience really because they don't have to. They have all kinds of devices at their disposal to bypass patience. And, I'm not saying that I want to turn back time and get rid of all the modern-day technology. No. I'm just saying that we all need to find a way to teach our children how to slow down and tune into nature and it's rhythms so they can achieve that inner strength and wisdom and patience that comes along with it. I just have this little inner voice telling me that they will probably need it one day for possibly more than simply daily life. As a father, I would feel like I failed them if I didn't try to teach them this.
Jimmy is the best and I grew up watching him also!...One of my all time favorite episodes and I have it on VHS is when he was catfishing in Texas with Ken Conlee and all of sudden Ken starts taking his clothes off in a hurry during the show and Jimmy turns around in shock and asks, what are doing?...Then Ken tells him he has ants in his pants!...Jimmy was dying of laughing and so was I. Lol.....They were awesome times!

I believe it was 83 or 84 that you got me fishing for bass and with the spinner bait caught my first large-mouth bass out of the pond i caught my first fish ever lol that was 50 yrs ago thanks jimmy i will be 57 this year

Does anyone know how she did in the tournament?
I can’t remember that particular one but Chris won quite a few Bass n Gal tournaments, 3 or 4 Classics, 7 Angler of the Year titles, and about 25 boats or so! She really did well in tournaments. Thanks. God Bless! jimmy
