  • This is a how to video on the steps I take when I split cases on a Honda Trx400ex this is the same bottom end as a Honda Xr400r. This is a bottom end from a 99-04 400ex.

    • @garagemcmatt

      The bearing on the stator side is a sweat fit. The bearing on the clutch side is slightly less tight but shouldn't just spin freely on the crank

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  Год назад +2

      It would be the basic idea of it but not something you could follow for a 250x tare down and rebuild. Same principle tho. I have a 87 250x parts bike if you need something

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  Год назад +2

      If it's a non reverse engine it's a 99-04. The only difference I know of in those years is one of the bearings is different but any good bottom end bearing kit will come with both style bearings. You might be able to find out the exact year by those numbers but I've never tried

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  Год назад +1

      The pivot bolt that goes through the swing arm? They get seized all the time. Your gunna need to soak it a few times with pb blaster for a few days and either use an air hammer, a slide hammer, or cut it out but try all the other options before cutting it. It is not fun but keep at it and u will get it out

  • @maglight2006

    I just bought a 2001 and it's rough. I'm wondering if theres supposed to be a spacer between the case and swing arm on the rear pivot bolt. I see at 5:18 this one doesn't have one. Is it supposed to be like this?

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  Год назад +2

      You mean the spacer that goes into the cases or the 2 that go in the swing arm?

    • @maglight2006

      @@garagemcmatt Between the swing arm and case, I made a video of it. ruclips.net/video/625W08C2UbM/видео.html
      Also this thing is a 2001 (10th digit of VIN) with Reverse so I guess the engine is newer. Is the wiring the same between the years? Because it's wired to jump the solenoid and drive, none of the controls switches function and stuff is disconnected. I've had this less than 24 hours and already ordered a ton of parts and been looking thru your videos.
      Thanks in advance for any info.
