    I was told the power steering cap is left hand thread to make you read the cap. Apparently people mistake it for something else and put the wrong fluid in it. Your vet don't look beat to me, looks good.

    Crazy that it took so many reps to get it clean. Looks good, though.

    I owned c4 1989. It always run hot. I had a tip. To pull radiator and clean in the front. It was like a dryer vent. And cooled her down. FYI.

    Your main cat is missing and has been straight piped I could see it from your camera shot under the vehicle when you were pulling out! The only “cat” or “ cats” you have left are your pre cats or pup converters on your front y pipe! Also verified your oil pressure gauge again when you started it from cold was only 41 psi when it should have been well over 60! Remember I was telling you about that 2 days ago?? 😉 also noticed your smoking pretty bad at start up which = bad valve seals. So you def got a little oil saga issue going on with that puppy. Your doing a good job though trying to keep up with it I give you a lot of credit it took me years to hone my knowledge on these early c4s. 👍

    I’m enjoying your videos. I had an 86 Vette and loved it. Put some work in it and sold it and bought a c6. Keep these coming, might have to buy another c4 as a project for my son and I.

    I like your vet, it’s in better condition than the 87 I just got lol. Also yes some vehicles do use (red) auto trans fluid for their power steering fluid, since auto trans fluid is also partially hydraulic fluid but slightly thinner and with alot more detergents and additives. I believe Ford has done that. Hopefully my vet will be as nice as yours some day

    Thank you for the videos. I will do the same thing to my C4 1984 PS tonight. This video encouraged me to do it. Drive safely.

    In some extreme cold locations the power steering fluid is replaced with a fully synthetic ATF to prevent the power steering system from having cold flow freezing issues.

    Any issues with the transmission after the fluid change

  • @MrZdvy
    @MrZdvy 4 года назад +1

    Good job on the steering fluid. Actually some steering fluids are red just like transmission fluid. You can change the diff oil yourself, it’s not hard to do. You can use the same suction tool.

    What exhaust system do you have? Quiet on the road.

    Hi, Enjoying your vids. I have an 84 (The best-After all it was "Motortrend Car of the Year-lol) Right now I'm building a crew cab cummins conversion on my Channel right now. BUTT, I would like to give you a little free advice. I would add some Lucas additive to the PS system, to the transmission and the rear dif. It is an excellent product and it will recon the seals especially the trans and rack and pump. It quites things down as well. Just some free advice that I see no one else offered. I've used their products for years with Great success !JMO of course. Thanks, Ron

    I like the C4 but hate the method of taking the top off, is there a reason why you have to use a tool and not a simple lever like the C3's?

  • @Michael_Lorenson
    @Michael_Lorenson 3 года назад +3

    Use real power steering fluid in your C4, ATF ruins the seals. That varies from one car to another, but the C4 needs the real stuff. I chose Lucas, partly because they also make Power Steering 'Stop Leak'. A pro mechanic who has experience with this system says he uses a ratio of about 75% PS fluid / 25% Stop Leak when changing the fluid, as a preventative measure. It does not gum-up the system like radiator stop leak. I got this info from a 'My Corvette Life' video.

    I am going to get you the license plate frame that says “sometimes I go topless.” Commonly seen on Jeeps here in Utah

    did u check that all ur sparkplugs work? check if a plug cable came loose or not working, the rattle can come from running on 7 sylinders. or els its most like drive train vibrations, also check ur egine mounts, they can come loose.

  • @robinstruyk87
    @robinstruyk87 4 года назад +1

    My guess on the exhaust rattle is a loose heat shield. I had that issue on my Tacoma a few years ago.

    Power steering is a hydraulic system., It's a hydr. pump, hydr. valve and a hydr. cylinder.

    O and the PS cap is set up reverse due to engine vibration. It tightens instead of loosining

      Rons Re-Creations No offense but that doesn’t make any aense whatsoever. A plastic cap is not able to recognize a left or right movement...
