Each bin was around 20 bushels. I would sell by bushel boxes or 1/2 bushel baskets or 1 peck or 1/2 peck bags. I would sell 2 or 3 bins a day and people would come from miles around. North Carolinians sure love there Sweet tatters. There are so many variety’s

My wife has been observing how much time I spend watching you on youtube. When adding all of that white sugar would you consider substituting brown sugar in the recipe. My wife is on a gluten intolerant and dairy free diet. So we cook a lot for two different meals most of the time. I relate to your helping with the farm work because I was raised on a farm until I graduated high school. We had a sale of all the farm stuff (which broke my heart). I went to work but could never get the farm out of me. After I retired I went and helped a friend of mine "hay making" for about 6 years and I loved every day of it. I now into my 80's and still miss farming. When young we had milk cows, horses, pigs, beef cattle (10- 20 at a time), and corn, soybeans, oats and alfalfa hay. It was the greatest time of my life on the farm, where a person obtains a good work ethic to carry them through life in what ever they do. Thank you for your videos which sometimes I watch more than once. It reminds me of the good, bad, hard, and pleasant times of being a farmer.

I've always loved sweet potato pies when I found out that I was diabetic my daughter started making them with honey instead of sugar they are very delicious.

Mama had a brain tumor and we have a lot of people in and out of the house at the end helping take care of her so it could have be some of those folks that took them. Make them up here. We roast our sweet potatoes, they get sweeter taste less sugar, also sometimes substitute 3/4 cup brown sugar for 1 cup of regular sugar, gives it a more nutty taste. For special holiday we add Maple Syrup instead of brown sugar. Little vanilla ice cream..... I know what you mean about planting them, I had a small raised garden a few years ago used Beauregard slips. Got about 10# out of that mess.
Your Mum's recipe is just like ours (Wife & I) that came from my Granny. You also can use squash, we like buttercup. Ya all know what the secret ingredient is? Salt. Vanilla ice cream is the best with this pie...YUM!

I lived and worked in Charleston, SC. And used to go to Winn-Dixie. This sweet black woman used to bake there. She used to always save me a sweet potato pie every week. Great meme.

Try a tablespoon of cinnamon & 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, really good.. give it a try
