Brought a rtl sdr recently to capture from weather satellites.

Is it possible to see IMEI addresses?
I worked on a software to capture imsi from 2G using OpenBSC. Decoding the data is very hard, with 3G or even 4G is almost impossible.
Are the sniffed imsis from 3G/4G connection or 2G?

It's virtually impossible to decode 4G/5G traffic in real-time due to the very strong encryption, that's why all these solutions are using 2G which is being phased out completely world-wide. Maybe in the future with quantum computers, but by then the next gen networks will also use quantum tunneling so it will be impossible to crack.

@@glassboi5401 - They can two ways. Either directly through the carrier via a subpoena, or using one of those Stingray devices, basically emulating a tower/MITM method.

If you google HackRF one, find the site and they have a list of retailers in different countries. Be warned the device is rather expensive (but worth it if you want to seriously explore SDR)
