I had one exactly like pictured. I loved it and drove it until passing it on to my son who was just a little kid when it was new. I think we would still have it except that the parts got to be impossible to replace as they wore out. Great overlooked car.
The 2.6-liter engine that powered the Fire Arrow was the Astron 4G54 MCA-Jet engine. A turbocharged version of that same engine would power the Mitsubishi Starion sports car.
Me too. Mine was a demo and the plymouth dealer had already moved his wife into it. She was pissed when I bought it from under her dealer husband. I paid dearly for it.. over six grand as I recall. I loved that Fire Arrow.. I wish I could have afforded three of them.
A buddy of mine had one and we made fun of him because of it. I never knew it had a 2.6 liter 4 cylinder! Not bad, not bad at all! His name was doug knox (miami).
Actually the first-gen Dodge Colts were considered Lancers. I think the name was kicking around at both Dodge and Mitsubishi for ages. They didn't apply it to their US output until 2000 or so. From what I understand, Chrysler licensed the name to them, but withheld it while Dodge had its Lancer out. When they dropped it, they gave the name to Mitsu.
