This song... saved my life. And the life of another. Because i have purpose, and i will go to war to end the suffering of my wife. I've explained to her give me time. When she questions why i stay with her. She is depressed and doesn't see how absolutely incredible she is. But nobody else would be able to help her. Nobody else really knows her. Some angels fall again. Fall again. I'd only come here in this world seeking peace and to know myself. And in doing so it's clear that my suffering was not for nothing. It allowed me to relate to another in a way nobody else can. Some look and think, it seems he came to leave, as in my legacy will be leaving this world together, and by the lord's hand, not ours. I can see sometimes little things that incan do that wipe away pain and suffering because I understand its nature. I see her. She sees me. Once we had a simultaneous ego death by seeing something special in our eyes. We both saw and recognized it at the same moment. We still call this the epiphany. This would be one of our favorite songs, we don't care what cultural attitudes exist regarding it or the people who love or hate Dark Angel, we love it. Labeling people, stereotyping, is a typical way to dismiss people if they seem not to be a member of our own cultural groups; we would prefer to be more inclusive. Love everyone...

The way I think it is defined in the song, a "dark angel" is someone from the outside looking in (an outcast) on the corruption and greed of society, but is "powerless" to do anything to stop and save anyone from their disorganized, self-destructive lifestyle ("Powerless to clear your mind of what you'd suffered"). I consider myself a Dark Angel because I recently lost someone close to me to the immoral temptations of sex, drugs, etc. that the media encourages, and I couldn't shield her from it.
