You just stumbled on my favourite band in the world today. I saw them live in London and they blew me away. These girls turn out track after Track of feel-good rock. This is their first ever MV and only just scratches the surface with this band. You have to see a live track. Try Domination or Moratorium, you won't regret it!!!!!😁

The majority of views were European and American. They performed at 5 sold-out concerts in the US last year. They are:

They write, arrange, and produce they music. They are between 25 and 30 today.

I think I own about 1.9M of those 2M views. Once my son turned me on to them I couldn't stop watching. For the longest time they only had line maybe three videos. I wore them out, over and over again.

you are right about them playing. they are very good. they are like Babymetal that you need to watch them live. both bands were beginning about the same time. and they wont admit it but majority of Band-Maid fans found them because of Babymetal. but i can appreciate Band-Maid for what they are. the drums, bass, and guitar are just so good. Band-Maid is considered hard rock. both bands are very good live in their own way. you want to appreciate the band you need to watch Onset which is just the band with no singing. to me some songs are very good and some i cant get into but i still like them. read the comments since others will explain the history of them.
I'll admit to it: l found Band-Maid via Babymetal! I pretty much stopped listening to Babymetal after 'Distortion', but I remain grateful for the enjoyment they gave me prior to that, and for the introduction to Band-Maid and subsequently Ningen Isu, Maximum The Hormone, Dir En Grey and on and on and on ...
The main difference between the two bands is Babymetal is a product of the record company and are created to fit the record label's idea. Whereas Band-Maid is now a direct result of the musicians and not their record label. It's about Kanami, Miku Akana, MISA and Saiki and not some suit sitting in his 10th floor office.
I found Babymetal through Band- Maid. And I can't stand Babymetal. To me it's DisneyMetal. Very talented, but just not my taste.

Akane is the oldest...at this time she was 22 I believe....
The video is from late 2014, just over a year after they formed. Most of the ages mentioned were from mid 2013. Drummer Akane is Dec 1990, Kanami & Miku 1991, Misa 1992(93?), singer Saiki is the baby, Feb ‘94, so 20 in this video, 26 in the about to be released DVD

the watershed video that thwarted their portented extinction. their last stab at niche recognition that proved to be their saving grace, enthralling western rock fans that continues to this day with no sign of abating.

They are by my figures 75 years old, their talent is off the charts, (just kidding about ages)Try Play, Dice , Moratorium, Puzzle , Take Me Higher(goddess MiSA on bass) do live then you have about 75 more songs. I’m a 66 year old metal/rock head discovered this band about a year ago. Baby Metal is an act, all assembled by a production company, songs written by some very talented people. Their show is entertaining as a act. Band Maid is a real band with incredible gifted ladies who should not be able to do what they do at their age. I am obsessed with this band and my bucket list before I go to the great rock show in the sky is to see a concert. They are real everyone is a talent all their own and together that make an extraordinary band!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. At 26 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Leader) as Miku calls her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away the persona. Kanami Tono “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 28 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose "Gorilla" - Drums, 29 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party!
MISA "Assassin" - Bass, 27 years old. A sullen, barefoot, dark spirit driving her 5-string bottom-end to hell and back, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. "Domination". @ One of the few bands around that is nearly always better live than in the studio. These girls are saving hard rock !

This is their 1st MV release when Miku could barely strum one chord. Now, 5/6 years later she's on the verge of playing her 1st real solo. This band has grown leaps and bounds since this video's release.
This was BandMaid about 5 years ago. Try "Real Existence" live. MISA's bass solo, along with Kanomi's guitar solo will leave your head spinning for days.

The only real way to react to BAND-MAID is live. They are so much better live than on the studio versions. Just pick a song, any one. They’re all bangers. Once the world gets back on its feet I can’t wait to see them live.

You've just reacted to their simplest song. This one's their first MV and this was from their earlier days. You should check their later songs. So much kick ass. The level of their newer songs compared to this one is way way way too far.
_Thrill_ is still my favourite _Band-Maid_ song, followed by _Real Existence, Daydreaming,_ and two or three others ... despite the fact that meanwhile their skill level has gone even higher.

Band Maid is a complete different "animal". Babymetal is a product by a record label (a good one) but Band Maid is a genuine hard rock band with some metal here and there. They compose the songs, lyrics and play they own instruments.
I think the idea comes from the band founder Miku Kobato, the one with the twintails. She works for years part-time in a Maid Café in Akihabara and love loud music so someday he think in mix them both. She contacted with Kanami, the lead guitar who is a truly genius (a little airhead but a monster with the guitar). She consideres himself as follower of Carlos Santana. Kanami play not only electric guitar, also acoustic and piano. She contacted with a friend who play drums (with classical formation) and Akane (drummer) with MISA because she study music also in the Tokyo Music School. Shortly Miku thinks that her voice was no good enough and looking for a singer contact with Saiki. Of course nobody say a word about the maid thing until it was too late 😂.
This song are from their first album, a lot more "conservative", after this their music got more loud, fast and "dirty". Also they sound very good in live performances, a lot better than in a studio.
They start in 2013 and have now 3 studio albums, 3 mini-cd (8-9 tracks only) and a "mini joke cd" called "Band Maiko" (a different story, most a fun joke but really good)
They are now possibly one of the best hard rock bands in the world. Their level of performance and technique are incredible. This theme doesn't do them justice. Try some live performances.
Following with another bands, maybe you must try Aldious. An all female power metal band, one of the oldest now in Japan. Something like this

There´s a lot of really good bands in Japan, but they are not know a lot outside Japan, maybe because most of them don´t tour outside Japan. (Band Maid do)

Thrill is their breakout single that put them on the map and is several years old. They only got better as time went on and their newer stuff like Moratorium, Rin'ne, and Domination really show off their talents. Baby Metal is in the heavy metal genre but Band Maid is more hard rock/funk area.

I hate that this is the entry song for people. It was a good choice in 2017 but there is SO MANY better choices to introduce someone. I know this gets picked because of the view count but come y'all, suggest other stuff. The new live "Domination" is the way to go IMO. The bass player is MISA and is just pure, distilled BADASS.
Now that you have reacted to both Band Maid and BabyMetal, the conversation will eventually get around to comparing the two. I love them both, but they cannot be compared musically because they are entirely different entities. I can explain the difference between them though. Band Maid is simply the best rock band on the planet today. BabyMetal is something more, a state of mind, an unstoppable movement, and a force for good. BabyMetal led me to Band Maid, and to Wagakki Band, and to Doll$Boxx, Sakura Gakuin, Sabaton, and the Hu Band.
This is their first video and it's good ofcourse but you should see them now some 7years later and more than 70 songs later and all good songs by the way. They have many live clips and you should probably just stick to them . They recently released a live version of DOMINATION that really rocks. Go on spoil yourself.
