So, I'm a citizen of both the US and Iraq, and whenever I go to Baghdad, I pay the taxi driver around 40 to 50 US dollars to take me from the airport to anywhere in the city. By the way, 60,000 Iraqi dinars is roughly equivalent to 45 US dollars. What happened between you and the taxi driver was that the taxi driver wanted 60000 iraqi dinars or 33 us dollars and when he said sixty he means 60 k iraqi dinars not 60 iraqi dinars which are equal to 33 us dollars which includes the airport fees that the driver paid to airport entry (this really happens in iraq) and also includes the trip cost

Note the advice : if you are on low budget and u wanna jump in to the country like any local and pay the minimum.... here is the catch once u reach Airport u go down to the taxi stand u v to pay around 15k iraqi dinner ( 10-15 usd ) sharing taxi just to go out to the taxi yard outside the airport don't take taxi from there coz they are the same people who charged ya a lot inside the airport u v to jump walking a bit if u don't v too much weight with ya lol then find any taxi on the main road wave to the cars they ll stop for ya use google translate make sure to negotiate the process before u jump in and even if u go 2h distance u ll be charged max 10 - 20k iqd (7- 15 usd) make it totall around 25-40 usd best of luck hope u won't end up paying the same 😂

I was in Cancun Mexico and got picked up at airport by Airbnb host, going from between hotel zone and downtown Cancun hotel/resort I was quoted 50usd, in 2022 Feb and I got some staff to hook me up 3am pick up to airport firm quote of 30.00 , his car had all kinds of red lights, fuel, oil, maybe coolant, and he drove fast so I could make my 7am wheels up. No cars on the road at 3 am, but I confess, he must have been doing 45, 50 mph and seemed to me like 30-45 minutes. When we arrived he got the flat thirty, no tip. I guess I did get a deal.
