  • Tesla is on the rise while traditional automakers struggle. With global EV sales expected to hit 17 million this year, Tesla is leading the charge, especially in China. Meanwhile, Ford’s 135-day inventory for the F-150 hints at deeper issues. Plus, Tesla just made a bold move by removing Cybertruck reservations, making it more accessible than ever.

Coupled with his amazing knack of completely calling out people for their BS.....Jeff is an absolute LEGEND and we are so lucky to have someone as knowledgeable as him to spell it all out for us.... much appreciation to him and Herb!

Got my X last November and am all electric now. Mostly charge at home but still go to gas stations as much as ever. Not for gas but for the convenience store items. I don't think this hurts their profitability as my understanding is these stations make very little on selling gas vs a lot on convenience store items.

was not discussed, but might a part of the credit tightening on car loans reflect the likely loss of residual value on all the ICE cars sold today-- the banks fear the car won't be worth the loan balance in 2 years and so requires a bigger down payment now to mitigate the risk of default?

Tesla should add the paint and interior options on the Model X for FREE if you buy FSD.
This would increase FSD take rate and also increase sales of the Model X.
Buy getting the paint and interior options for FREE it keeps the price eligible for the $7500 tax cut.
The $7500 tax credit is a big deal. The Model S and Model X need to be priced to be eligible for the credit.
Loosing the $7500 tax credit by buying the paint color you want is crazy

They (non Tesla) filled the channel with inventory which counts as sales , but with 100-150+ days of EV inventory (non Tesla), they’re not selling THRU to consumers.
Tesla has maintained operational efficiency at 18 days of inventory and have sales closer to the true capacity for the market. Does that make sense? Others didn’t sell out in greater qty to consumers than Tesla, they get credit for a “sale” when a car leaves their factory and sits on a dealer lot

If you are the property owner and would like to get a 20% return on your investment, install the chargers. Dominance of a high-end market segment with a brand new product? That's big, and wins both prestige for Tesla, as well as making the CT visible to the public. When the cheaper versions come out, and when car loans become more affordable, CT sales will build on the toehold that the Foundation series is establishing now, at the high end.
It will be interesting to see CT sales numbers vs ICE pickups over the next few years. Pickups are not cheap. F-150 starts around $40,000, and at the high end, a Raptor can set you back $165,000. If you really have that kind of money to spend on a truck, you better bet that you will be giving the Cyberbeast a thoughtful look.
