I'm a beginner baitcaster user. My reel kept getting tangled up badly upon casting it. I thought it was the reel & have now took 3 of them back. After watching this video I have different view of them & learned how they actually work. Thanks for the tip.

Vin The Fishing Man thanks bro
Thanks Man, I'm 67 years old and just bought my first baitcaster reel. I have always fished with my 60s vintage Mitchell 300, so its time to teach this dog new tricks, or fishing! Thanks for sharing, Great video, now to the back yard for practice, do you know any birds that need a home, I may make a few nests before I learn to cast this thing! Lol!
The Luth you sir are a legend
The Luth is the truth!
How are you liking the baitcaster?
We need an update sir Luth
@@SanDiegoFishingDude he was commenting before the coronavirus, and you know what it does to old people...
Should have watched this video before I casted a baitcaster 😂
Bird nest
A simple but deadly mistake lol
Relatable 😂😂
Lmfao.... For reall!!!...
I watched it still got a rats nest i wish i never bought it honestly biggest waste of money i have ever used.
Watched this after tangling my first baitcaster 5 times, and it all made perfect sense :) Cheers
Lol me too, I was practicing in my yard and got a birds nest, forgot that you need to stop the spool before it makes contact with the surface
mine for some reason keeps going off the sides instead of where im aiming :/

Rebel1280 you don't have a wait on
I'm among the people that thought "I can figure it out, its just a reel!".4 nest later and I'm here.
Seems like alot of steps, wish I would have known before I invested $$$$$ on the setup.
At least now I know what the hell i SHOULD be doing!!
Thanks for the video
I really liked you straight forward explanation, you kept it simple and that helps a lot, I have watched many videos for this and I feel they are over explained, which can be information overload, so good job man, and thank you.
The wind isn't loud enough for me.
smashtoad 😂😂
smashtoad Simple fix. Make your own video. 😒
Brenda Ferguson he can’t make his own because he’s looking for one to teach him 😒
Brenda Ferguson dumbass
Try turning it up to 9
Out of all the beginner casting tutorials on RUclips, this short video has been the most help. Nice work.
This is so straight forward. Its amazing. Thank you for explaining everything so good and not making it complicated. You got my sub
I really didn't know how to use it...now I know. Great Video. Thank you.
Great little video dude, straight to the point and no over-explaining. Seems a lot of people make a bigger deal out of these than they really are, I was super nervous about using my new bait caster but after watching this video I had no problems on my first trip with it.
Makes me happy to hear!
Dude thanks so much u got a sub you're the first person that can properly explain how to use one
AJ SYED Becky
Awesome I appreciate it!
Thank you so much. Clear easy and simple. Straight forward.
Thanks this really helped me out... love how you broke down how to tighten the tension for beginners. I actually gave away a bait caster because I didn’t know how to use it.
Dtay E buy another one now haha once you put some time in, it's well worth it
Great instructional video, showed the basics and clearly explained without going into other "mumble, jumble, nonsense" like others do. Thank you.
Thanks bro. That clears some stuff up. I thought I was losing (more of) my mind.
thank you so much! just bought a bait caster and casted it 2 times and got a rats nest... appreciate this video a lot!
I hadn't used a bait caster in a long time, so i bunched it up 3 times in a row. Got on my phone, opened youtube, found your video in like 20 seconds. It all came back to memory...didn't catch anything but thanks.
That was exactly what i was searching for after googling for an hour. Thanks
Thank you, man! I've always fished, but i would just throw some weights on the line with a hook and a worm and let it sit until i get something, with a closed reel. Just the other day i caught my first bass with a crankbait i bought randomly, with my closed reel which was a pretty good rush. Thank you for explaining things from square one!
Finally someone who explained it a way I can understand
Just watched 5 other videos before this, hands down the best. Straight forward and great view of what actually happens. Thanks!

very straight forward and it helps a lot because you go straight to the explaining. Nice video
Very well explained. So many other "how to" wiseguys here on YT leave out this very elementary part and spend all their time talking about the various brake systems. It`s not a nobrainer how to operate that thumb brake thing. Thankyou !
I bought my first baitcaster a few years ago and I couldn't use it because I kept getting it tangled. I haven't tried to use it again because I thought the reel was bad/broken... now I know I was bad.. Now that I know what I was doing wrong I can't wait to test it out again! Thank you for this video and straight forward explanation!!
Crystal Lurk hope it helped, make sure to subscribe to my channel for more tips and tricks!

Thanks so much, just bought my first bait caster today. I thought I had it figured out but this video really helped! Tight lines!
Berto Melendez that's awesome to hear, glad I could help
Thank you for the demo , I've just started using a bait caster again after years of using a regular reel , I just bought a quantum reel from bass pro as well as a new crappie bass tracker boat I'm still learning how to use it but I'm sure your video will help .
Well explained! I had watched other vids but yours was easiest to understand. Thx.
Thank you for this video. Picked up one at a yard sale for $10 and quickly figured out there is some skill or trick needed.
Stephen Greenfeld awesome, make sure you subscribe to the channel for more tips and tricks
Thankyou thankyou thankyou this has helped me along way just brought a diawa rod and reel combo $249 special so I went all out not knowing what I was doing kept getting bird nests all because I had the magnets on 2 of 9 and the gear wasn’t tight and after watching this I have been casting for 40 minutes changing lures and it’s just been awesome you helped us all out thankyou
Kain Wilson that makes me happy! Glad I was able to help you out!
Very Good! all the other videos were confusing and complicated. This was the first to make sense. Keep up the good work!
I just got a baitcaster earlier on today and your video made perfect sense now I can cast a baitcaster thanks man.
Thanks for video.....I was out today with new Lew's baitcaster and spent most of the time fixing rat nests......
pennywise804 hope it helped, make sure to subscribe to my channel for more tips and tricks!
After getting horrible rat's nest, causing me to respool in 4 times in 4 days, I had no idea what I was doing wrong. I guess it was just cause my bait was too light to cast and my spool was too fast to cast something so light. After seeing you cast the chatterbait I decided to try it, cast perfectly. Thanks. I subscribed.
The best explanation so far...I may get one now. Subscribed. Thanks
THANK you. I’ve been looking for a video like this for weeks. One that got to the point and actually helped!
Good luck! Please subscribe!!
This was helpful of all the beginner baitcasting video i watched.
One of the better tutorials I’ve found. 👏
This is the video I have been searching for finally someone shows you have to click the brake off before casting everyone seems to miss that part out
Very nice demo, thanks. Many comments re: different kinds of reels make a baitcaster sound like it's very difficult to use, but you show it just takes some practice. Thanks.
I am using a bait caster for the first time today this will help a lot good explanation and you were very clear and through on how to do it to
Good luck! Please subscribe!!
Great, easy to follow video. Thanks. I’m brand new to baitcasters, and yea, second cast I got a huge back lash. Looking forward to practicing more with it and getting more familiar with it.
For the best performance use no spool tension and turn your brakes down just until you start getting a slight backlash. The rest is thumb work.
Thanks man. Perfect video for my first baitcaster.
I appreciate the help! I used to use a baitcaster as a kid and hated the spinning rod. As an adult it became the opposite, by the time I went back to a baitcast, I had trouble.

Omg thank you bro for Christmas I got a baitcaster and I had good weather to test it out thanks a lot man
Looking at getting one. Thank you for the info. Good to the point video!
I came on here tonight to intentionally say, "Thank you". I am 56 years old and always used spinning rods. I have wanted to switch to baitcasters for my heavier baits but I never could really get the hang of it. Before I saw your video, I sort of got to where I could mostly cast without a bird nest. After watching your video, and using your setup method, I can now cast without bird nests. To my surprise, my casting distance almost quadrupled. Really...quadrupled!!! So, again I say, "THANK YOU"!
You'll get the best performance if you use no spool tension and adjust your brakes until you just start to get backlashes. The rest is thumb work.
I got my first baitcaster and tried to cast it and it didn’t work. This video helped me figure out how to fix it and prevent a 3 hour road trip. Thank you very much
Great quick easy tutorial. Thank you.
Thanks just got one this morning and it was about to drive me crazy the the rat nesting. Great video

Dude great explanation the best way to explain ive seen
The best how to use a bait casting reel so far out of many. They all left out the fact to place your thumb on top of the spool right before the lure hits the water. Thanks!
That really helps now because I always had rats nests which bugged me ALLOT!
I am your 2,000th subscriber. Congrats!
