GT86 looks dam good fun, and very responsive to mods. Now they are coming down in price i might just have to get one! Cool vid and lap!

It’s pure fun and you can do whatever you want with it, if you enjoy raw driving it won’t let you down. And there’s a lot of tuning options if you want to go that way. Glad you liked it!
Great driving, the dark horse Nurnburgring! You lost sight of him in the uphill section but gained it all back in the downhill section at the end and he finally caved under the pressure! Man that must have felt good making the pass. The GT86 is perfectly balanced, lightweight with a low center of gravity - perfect choice for Nurnburgring!
nice. a clear lap is getting harder to find at the ring now. you made the most of it.
8 лет назад+2
Thanks! Agreed, it was a very nice day with almost no traffic and decent weather. I regret now not going for more laps that day(i had only 2 left on my card), to be honest.
Nice lap, thinking about putting on PSC2, do they push the stock suspension too much on to the bump stops, or is it a worth while for a ring track day? Also have you been to the Ring when its wet with the Cup 2s? I see you are on Direzza now but is the cup2 a good choice for stock car?
3 года назад+1
PSC2 with stock suspension is a great combo, already very capable! You can check my videos from 2016-2017 for that. I did drive on the ring with that setup on the wet, and it was fine. Much better than direzzas and although you need to be careful in some places, I really enjoyed it.

What a lap... Superb driving and clean línes. In some turns the m3 on the front uses a slighty late apex cause he have more power, nice lap by the two cars. Whats the fastest stock BTG lap of this car with long straight included?
8 лет назад+5
Thank you. The BMW is a friend of mine, he was just warming up to go full attack on the next lap(he did some under 8' laps that day). BTG is always without the straight ;) Right now this is the fastest BTG lap for a GT86 as far as i know, that's for both stock and modified cars! The fastest lap around the complete track with a stock car(on RE050A tires though) is 8:44.90, made by the great Horst von Saurma(who is probably one of the most experienced drivers at the Ring) for the german magazine "Auto Motor und Sport". Take around 20-25 seconds off that time and you get an estimate BTG time.
@@patthonsirilim5739 a brembo bbk would hardly make any difference with the stock engine. The stock brakes are good enough with uprated pads, fluids and braided lines.

the car seems perfect thou it sure lack a little power i think a basic intake exhaust and tuned would definitely help things out not to much power but just enough to iron the mid range lump
7 лет назад+2
There's always room for improvement, but i'm happy with it as it is engine-wise, power is not the deciding factor to go fast around corners. This video is one of the fastest BTG laps of a GT86 you can find, which kinda proves my point ;)
agreed but that car form what i can see is stuck at few section just trying to accelerate espcially during the faster section with abit more power it sure can cut a fair chunk of the time
7 лет назад+10
Sure, this track needs power to cope with the fast, uphill sections. There's still time to be gained without modifying the engine though, that's my personal "challenge".
@ some day it would be fun to try a BRZ on this track. Hope not you are driving the oem 0w20 oil. Plenty of breakdowns because of that waterlike eco co2 oil
4 года назад+1
Knut Endre Ringhagen if you ever get the chance, you won’t regret it! It feels at home. Concerning the oil, Toyota says to use 5w30 here in Spain and that’s what I’ve been using since the first oil change, never had any issues :) However I just ordered an oil cooler to make sure the car can do 20-30+ Nordschleife laps on a trackday, endurance is key.
el motor del gt 86 solo funciona entre 6500-7500 por debajo de 5000 rpm no empuja contundente, por encima de ese regimen ya si es lo que tiene la gracia del motor japonés
7 лет назад
Si bien es cierto que da lo mejor de sí por encima de 5000, se puede ir muy rápido sin pasar de 4500 siquiera. Abajo responde mejor de lo que crees.
Sweet driving! how well did the pilots stick after some warming up? Good thing you're not on factory tires huh? haha
7 лет назад
Thanks! It didn't take too long to warm up the tires, and they are really good! I want to try some Trofeo R or Direzzas next year though. Stock tires are completely useless lol.
What is the construction year of your 86 and how much Kilometers did you drive to this Video?
7 лет назад
I bought it new in February 2015 but it was built in 2012(they had it in stock since then...) I was around 55.000km at that time, and i'm now over 83.000km. No issues so far.
@@Alex-ck4in i've driven this car and understand it. Love the handling. Still it misses 40hp. With 40hp more it would still be the same handling car. Just look how a cheap bmw e36 pulls away in the straights. That is my problem with this car. Why buy this to 30k when a cheap e36 can do same or better lap times?

Great driving, but what does BTG stand for?
8 лет назад+11
Thanks! BTG stands for Bridge To Gantry, the standard lap-timing for tourist drives since you don't get to do the full lap.
why so low RPMs? hasn't it the most power around 6000 RPMs?
7 лет назад+1
I don't know what you mean, i usually change around 7200-7400rpm when going fast like in this video. Max power around 6800rpm. There are a couple of corners on the Nordschleife where you are faster by holding a gear instead of downshifting though.
i wasn't watching at the rpm-gauge. i was just guessing by sound, and it seems i was guessing wrong. nice ride anyway, and good btg-time.
7 лет назад+2
I get it now hahahaha, it's very quiet indeed, inside you get some intake noise with a resonator (which i personally like) but it is too quiet. I have a new exhaust now ;)
PSC2 stands for Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires? How many seconds do you recon you can shave in a lap of the Nordschleife using those tires instead of conventional road tires?
7 лет назад+1
Pilot Sport Cup 2, yes. The previous year with Super Sports i was 20 seconds slower, but there are other things to consider so it's not an exact comparison. On smaller tracks(2-4km) they can give you around 1 to 3 seconds per lap. And they're less prone to overheating so you can go for longer stints.
Who knew Bob Ross could drive!
LOL I guess I should call it “The Joy of Driving” then...
@ You hear those squeals? Those are from the tires. Happy little tires.
It's Alan prost..
If we're going to go back.
Driving skill trumps horsepower.
I said that before!!👌😎👍

chirivita always quit while you're ahead especially on the Nurburgring. Nice lap btw👍🏻
Thank you! Yeah, that's exactly why i didn't go for more :)
3:13 I know that feeling 😂 great lap dude 👌🏻
Thank you! Yeah, there's nothing to do about that...
Test drove one today, will definitely be buying!
Great time for basically just tires and better brake pads.
Yeah, there's little room for improvement with the current setup. Better tires and suspension next time!
I miss my BRZ....fun car even on roads other than the Ring...but to drive it there would have been a real treat.
Very impresive driving skills!
Thank you! :)
Man that was some great driving skills!👌😎👍
Awesome BMW driver
Bloody hell you are fast
Thanks! I was faster this year... But there’sstill a lot to improve!
Nicely done! Smooth indeed.
