After all my years of burning wood. I found a great way to light off my stove. Use a cat food can fill with rubbing alcohol light it . Also works great to warm up a cold chimney. Plus no smoke on start up. Only requires good dry kindlin and your good to go.
Thank you so much for your comment. I had not thought about that process. I don't have a cat, however a tuna can would work well also. I will save a can next time I open a can of tuna and give it a try. Have a blessed day.
Your welcome. This morning I had a very cold chimney, outside temp. Was - 2 . I used the alcohol and it warmed my chimney right up. What I like is absolutely no smoke. I'm telling you it works. I had the same problem with smoke backing up because of a cold chimney.
You may be able to get away with it, but it really isn't worth the risk. They can still contain explosive materials, plus have chemicals that may be corrosive.
Cheers man. Second winter using one. I learned a lot last winter from trial and error. This helped a lot

You are the only civilian I have heard use the word, “don” in your speech.
They used it a lot on the carrier.
