The DBD34 in Clubmans trim is my favourite bike of all time. As a BSA Starfire riding teenager back in the 60's I was in complete awe of the Ton Up Boys I saw on their Goldies. Fabulous days to be around bikes! I make a pilgrimage to the Ace Cafe in London every year for the Rockers Reunion and relive the glory days! 🇬🇧

Carburettor is the Amal GP (Grand Prix) 1 1/2" bore racing carburettor. Not a kill switch on the handle bars as the GP had no idling provision, which is why the bikes fitted with the GP series carbs. had to blip the throttle at the lights. Just close the trhottle and the engine stops. Cylindrical thing next to the carb. is the float chamber which is suspended on an anti vibration rubber mount. Lucas magdyno electrics with the 6volt DC dynamo mounted piggy back on the magneto. The Clubmans version of the Gold Star had rear set foot rests, short brake pedal, reversed gear lever but with a reversed internal geabox cam plate to give the then "standard" one up, three down" gear selection, clip on handle bars clamped to the fork stanchions and a close ratio gearbox stamped RRT2 (for the 1957 to 1963 DB32 350 and DBD34 500). The swept back exhaust pipe as fitted to the Clubmans was to get the correct resonance with the 65-2442 and 65-2446 racing cams. That bike IF it was the Touring version should have a STD2 gearbox, curved not swept back exhaust pipe to go along with the forward footrests.
Two front bakes available, single sided 8" brake and the optional full width 190mm which is what is fitted to that bike. Optional aluminium rims were marked Dunlop WM1 for the front Dunlop WM2 for the rear. 65mph in 1st, 85 in 2nd, 105 in third and 115 mph in top. I remember passing a "go faster Ford" who was flat out and when I got level with the driver's door then dropped it into top and took off. Often wondered what he thought.
Interesting engineering in the engine with a nimonic 80 exhaust valve and aluminium bronze exhaust valve seat which along with the giant finning was all to deal with the heat.
Easy to start IF you followed the correct procedure which was set the magneto advance retard lever at ~ half way, flood the float chamber using the button on top. bring engine up on compression then lift the decompression lever to just ease it over TDC but no more. then leap on the kick starter with all your weight whilst opening the throttle about 1/8th of a turn and balancing the bike upright!

Carburettor is the Amal GP. The "thing" on the side is the float bowl.

That's the "190mm" front brake. The little lever below the horn push is the dipswitch (high/low beam switch).

DBD34 is just pure sex. I'm currently in the process of adding a 6 Cylinder CBX in my collection but, the DBD34 is next for sure.
BTW, in a Magdyno setup the bottom half is the Magneto and the Dynamo sits on top and is driven from the Magneto, usually the BSAs were all Anti-Clockwise which can de deciphered from the arrow on the MagDyno cover as well as the Serial/Identification badge.
This example is interesting cause it's running an Alton Generator from BTH but seems to be running a regular Lucas M01 Magneto. I've never seen that setup before. Dynamo's are usually very reliable and should never be run via the Lucas MCR-type regulators, a Lucas E3LM Dynamo rectified through a DVR2 Sold-State regulator should be a very reliable setup for the most part.
Anyway, the DBD34 is one of the best looking bikes ever made and is a must have for every enthusiast. They just are very rare in my Country, here in India! But, I do agree with the comments below, the DBD34 should always be in Clubman spec. These handlebars don't do the beauty justice!

Fuzzy thanks for my thursday video! ..I would be in awe in that room alone, I think that if a person looks up the word "motorcycle" in the dictionary a picture of a 67'' Triumph is what they find ...That 59 BSA is one gorgeous bike and i could not mention Beauty or gorgeous enough times to describe it or any of those bikes in that room ...I believe the lever on the clutch side could possibly be a timing advance/ retard feature as I had that type of lever on a 55' Harley Pan Head I owned, it would aid in starting it up and keep one's knee joint intact.....If I ever get a chance i'm headed to Baxter's and have my chance to walk among those displays of mechanical art... Art IS truly the term ...Ride safe brother...Best Regards .....D.
