Aside from everything else here, which i love so, SO much, I love the art style here! It's a weird cross between the HGH style and the style the first Shantae (and original promos of this game) had! I love it! Those are my two favorite art-styles the series has had, so seeing them smushed together, while surreal, makes me grin like a dumbass. Also, it's just cool to see the HGH style with more "realistic" proportions. I prefer a mix between stylisation and realism, and this style gets closer to that that HGH's. Again, I'm so happy over this. I've been thinking something like this would happen for a long time, and I've never been more glad to be proven right, lol. I just hope that it's not GBA exclusive in the 2020s, (I mean, read that sentence for a MINUTE and try to take it seriously... that's just absurd...)

Just to get ahold of a physical copy you have to immedietely get it which isnt cool.

Looking forward for a non-Limited Run Games release! Maybe a Japanese distributor? It would be great to get this game in Japanese. We didn't get the first one.
I would say this will essentially transform Shantae into a 6 piece series. 1. Shantae (GBC) 2. Shantae Riskys Revolution (GBA) 3. Shantae Riskys Revenge (DS) 4. Shantae Pirates Curse (3ds) 5. Shantae Half Genie Hero (Wii U) 6. Shantae Seven Sirens (Switch) What I stated was the Shantae game for each console. I realize there has been ports to the switch of the older games but wanted to put out which console each one originated from. I need thiss on switch and as a Limited Run Physical. Will totally be preordering that if it happens at some point. At some point will own the full physical Shantae collection and then replay through all the games!
@@toonzelda3353 Huh. There has been a Shnatae on every ninten console since the GBC. HGH is almost the odd one out unless you account for Switch being a hybrid, in which case it just began the new trend of the games being on home console.
@@shupasopniOh yeah your right. They are on the older platforms as well. Almost forgot lol. The Riskys Revenge and the original are also playable on 3ds as well. But how to put it each device has a console specific Shantae game while containing ports of the previous games. If we are talking about non ports frankly and just the one game which started on that system then that is what have listed. There would be 6 in total. Shantae GBC originated on game boy color and while you can play it on pretty much any system after, the GBC is the system the game started on.

It still amazes me that this small plucky studio from back in the day has become a giant in the indie scene. I still remember seeing the announcement for riskys revenge and being so excited for a sequel to a game I still had not played at that point. Cheers to you Matt Bozon, and the rest of Wayforward; I hope you guys can continue the amazing work you’ve done the past 20 years for the next 20 years!
This is so cool, making the game for it's intended system instead of just making it a new game is sick, and the link cable mini game especially looks super fun!!
Awesome.
Ret-2-to when you are!
I used to be salty that you didn't properly back up the Beta Showcase from years ago and hoped you would bring it back properly some day, but that's way better!
Nice! Can't wait to play it, hopefully it comes to current gen consoles at some point too.
Hope this game gets ported to newer consoles later down the line so that players who don’t have a gba will get to experience this game.
Always down for more Shantae 👍
So unbelievably happy about this.
Thanks for making an awesome series, WayForward. 😎👍
I never though Risky's Revolution would ever see the light of day. This is so huge!
Bruh, I'm about to start crying tears of happiness, because 2024 is going to be the best year for gaming to me. 😭
Also I hope that this game will release on PS4, PC, and other consoles, I don't think if I still have a GBA. 🙏
I'm sure they will eventually. It'd be kinda weird to only release it on a 22 year old console.
I know right? Only way for us to play it is on modern systems or unless you still have a functioning GBA (my past systems aren't working anymore and I expect out of print systems being priced high on eBay and such).
I just have to wait for a modern port release or I just miss out on this (and I have every Shantae game so far thanks to being released on Switch).
And plz let this be released on switch
@@dragon1130 Which I hope does happen, as I am probably not going to buy from Limited Run Games after seeing reviews that say they are not a company to order from, even if they do make physical releases of digital-only releases (which would probably see secondhand sales in the future).
@@dragon1130i agree it’s strange but I think the developers want to release the game in the same way we would have gotten it 20 years ago first to show what could have been.
Could this be the return of the lad, the legend...
SPANKY JOE?!?!?
Awesome! I hope she'll have more dance moves in this game than in the last one!
Let’s go!! Tell the untold tale of Shantae!!!
I played all my shantae games on steam, please realease it there sometime, love you guys work!
I hope this game will receive an official release in the not-so-distant future. I own all the Shantae games on the Switch, and I want to play the missing chapter of Shantae.
Same! I own all Shantae games physically and digitally and would totally preorder a limited run physical for this if it also came to switch!
NO! I WANT DIGITAL RELEASE!
@@vgbcp3rs0na41 I want both honestly. I own all the Shantae games both physically and digitally. Would double dip. Dont get the hate for Limited Run honestly..
@@toonzelda3353 Probably because they don’t keep their physical versions on store shelves for long.
@@vgbcp3rs0na41 Makes sense but thats really the only complaint I can see. Other than that they still sell you a valid physical copy of a game. They are called Limited Run after all lol. Limited meaning first come first serve. Your just forced to get it soon if you want to or else miss out on it which sucks for the consumer. Just to get ahold of a physical copy you have to immedietely get it which isnt cool.
I love you guys for rescuing this lost game. I hope one day we can have a DS cartridge version of Risky's Revenge as well.
Spanky McGee better make the cut!
I gotta say, I love the way the game looks. Super exciting to have another pixelated Shantae.
This is actually so sick!!! I’m playing this the second I get the chance!!
This is really cool! I' find it funny that they took an old project just lying around and was like, "Yeah, we'll finish it."
My only concern is that I hope this game is available on more than just the GBA cause I don't own a GBA and I really wanna play this.
Awesome!
Looking forward for a non-Limited Run Games release!
Maybe a Japanese distributor? It would be great to get this game in Japanese. We didn't get the first one.
Um sonho que esta prestes a se realizar!! Wu esperei por esse jogo desde o dia que vi a um vídeo com a demonstração, O dia esta chegando!! 😁
Like that Analogue Pocket
This is amazing! I love seeing the old Shantae art style so much! Though I have to ask, does this count as the 2nd or 6th entry to the series then?
Or is this Shantae 1 1/2?
Yes.
I would say this will essentially transform Shantae into a 6 piece series.
1. Shantae (GBC)
2. Shantae Riskys Revolution (GBA)
3. Shantae Riskys Revenge (DS)
4. Shantae Pirates Curse (3ds)
5. Shantae Half Genie Hero (Wii U)
6. Shantae Seven Sirens (Switch)
What I stated was the Shantae game for each console.
I don't have enough words to describe how excited I am to hear about this.
Also I want that shirt
I hope it’ll get an eShop/Steam/etc. release too at least, this is wild! This is basically the Shantae equivalent of when Star Fox 2 was released!
Yeah but less of a dog 💩 game...
As someone who just recently discovered Shantae and having finished the first 3 games so far, this is very exciting news!
Tente imaginara felicidade de quem esta desde 2004 esperando LOL
I don't have anything to say. I'm rendered speechless. I love Shantae and have all the games. This just feels so good to see this unfinished game being brought back to life. ❤
I'm SO glad I still have my GBA!
Oh my god, I can’t wait to play this lost Shantae title!
I for one still hope Shantae will get her own animated series or movie!
And if there’s any video game adaptations Wayforward is considering, they should make a game based off Nickelodeon’s Glitch Techs, which is a cartoon all about gaming!
Or WayForward should consider acquiring the rights to Glitch Techs and revive the show.
Ngl we don't need a shantae series they always ruin it in video game adaptations
@@HarukoPlease sounds like someone didn’t like The Cuphead Show.
This is so cool! I thought I remembered reading rumors about a GBA Shantae game back in the day, always assumed that's eventually what turned into Risky's Revenge.
Is this going to get a digital release? After the LRG fiasco, I'm not keen to support them.
It's so cool to see a game that was never released but was leaked finally get a chance to shine and on top of that being released for the original console, I really wish more developers would do this, there are so many games that were canceled but had a great potential.
EXCUSE ME??¿????????????????
THAT'S WHAT I SAID!!!!
I know right!
Awesome!
I do hope this ends up on Steam as well~
HECK YES
"That's what I doooo" - and very well, might I add! Super excited for this!
This is incredibly cool, how often you see an unreleased game revived like this? I'm looking forward to play it
On Original Hardware no less.
This is why archiving/preservation is important.
I was just wondering when the next Shantae game was going to be announced, but I certainly wasn't expecting this!
OK, but what about those who don't have a GBA? Will the game be available on other platforms?
Problebly
So glad to see you guys having the opportunity to finally release your GBA game and in physical form to run on original hardware to boot!
First Metroid Dread and now Shantae Advance.
SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T A DREAM!!!
Whats next? Megaman legends 3?
I was disappointment when the game is cancelled along time ago, but now that it's getting released next year the childhood in me is relieved and screaming right now. Thank you WayFoward and Matt Bozon!
I NEED THIS NOW ❤❤❤ I love the old artstyle…is just so good, not a fan of the new style. Please consider releasing a digital version for modern consoles too.
They have to release it digitally, as if they didn't that would be an insult to their fans
@@derektereve286 let’s hope so
@@aleee2323 I don't think there's any hope to it, as a lot of their fans can't or don't purchase from LRG, so a digital release would be the best way to guarantee that the game reaches all their fans
A GBA Game? In 2023?!
AND IT’S SHANTAE?!😃 I have a DS! Send it over, WayForward!
Will this also see a release digitally on platforms? Or strictly as a GBA Physical game?
I love you, Wayforward! ♥ I'm a huge fan of the Shantae series so I'll definitely try to grab this new game when it releases.
I bought the original Shantae as a LRG copy on the GBA, a digital version twice on the 3DS eShop, and both a physical and digital copy on the Nintendo Switch. btw
will a digital version be released on current gen platforms?
*That's actually amazing! I hope more companies can follow the example and release their unreleased games!*
