What I love is how in Japan, they build vending machines so well and take care of them so well, that you can find old 70's machines with Nixie Tubes as the timer display while it heats up your food. Really retro looking.

braeden kellogg Probably looking very panicked and running through an area that's sure to be put in a history book. Trump going to Buckingham palace, maybe.
When I saw these I thought "wait, I've seen this somewhere before". Then I realized a similar tube display was used in HBO's Chernobyl miniseries where it was showing the reactor's output power. Very interesting stuff.
That's only in the Redux version if you're playing Survival mode. If you play in Spartan mode then it's the Nixie Watch. Of course it is a little smaller than this one.
+Clyde Marshall I didn't learn how to tell time until very late so I stuck to digital clocks and waterproof digital wrist watch calculators out of practicality. I'm not a jewelry guy so I just don't see the appeal in a fancy analog watch
The coolest watches in my opinion were still the digital ones that had a universal remote control function, where you could tune them in to a TV's IR. I still remember a very irate headmaster trying to weed out which one of 100+ 12-year olds kept changing the channel of the TV while watching some Channel 4 Learning crap during assembly. Memories, from the corners of my mind...
I worked in the Nuclear I&C regimen, and to replace almost any system from the 70's or 80's is extremely difficult...any replacement system has to exactly match "Form, Fit, and Function"; something newer could be created that is more sensitive, but that would be an issue (how will the "downstream" components react?) So I had to replace nixie tubes in units...yes, there was an "upgraded" newer retrofit, but it would have cost millions to be able to use the retrofit. As a result, I had to find the NLA exact same tubes. Newer ones were unacceptable, as were the Soviet versions. Thank goodness I found a warehouse that was being liquidated and scored 38 brand new exact matches. Lord knows what will happen when those run out...
Hey Techmoan, you can remove that distracting flicker by changing around your iso, aperture, and shutter speed. Slow the shutter and raise the aperture. Preferably keep the iso as low as you can to stay away from grain.
the only important thing here is the shutter speed, or recorded frames per second. If it's recording at 30 frames per second, and the electric operates at 60 hertz, then every second frame, the camera will record it while the power is "off", resulting in flicker. what iso probably does is, with higher sensibility, it swamps out the picture so that the flicker is not so noticable, but that doesn't fix the problem.
don't you know the three affect each other? If you change the shutter you must compensate with ISO and/or aperture. The camera will do it automatically if it's any good though.
@jtu100 Unfortunately both the clocks I own were limited run models that disappeared almost as soon as I ordered them. You are best keeping your eye on ebay - sooner or later something suitable will turn up.
