  • Hello friends and thank you for watching this video!
    Almost a year ago I uploaded a DIY/HOW-To garden sphere/orb video and I received some wonderful feedback and suggestions within the comment which guided me to creating large a yoga ball-sized concrete orb which I then turned into a fountain for the side of our garden house.
    This is honestly an extremely easy project if you have the patience to allow the layers to dry and cure. I hope it provides some inspiration for you in creating something for yourself.

    Hi Cade! Fun, messy project! Had one minor hitch. I flipped my globe over to cover the bottom and didn't put mesh in that spot(error one) I put a thin layer of concrete and left it in the sun to dry... Was such a pretty day... (Error two). Should have remembered my science 101 class! Gas expands in heat and contracts in cold. So my beach ball did what it was supposed to and expanded and cracked the bottom of my globe. Guess my first mistake was not to inflate the ball. That might have helped. End of story, a few messy slathering of concrete and my globe is just fine. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.

    Awesome video! I think I might’ve used a larger container under the sphere for water because I think it will evaporate fast. But I could be wrong since it is in the shade and you probably water those plants quite often. Love your channel keep it up!

      Hello there thank you so much for the comment. The reservoir worked pretty well actually. I purchased it before I made the sphere and I was also a little concerned but it did work well. Yes the plant watering helped keep it up. Thanks for watching and more videos coming soon

    Omg! I just found your channel, and I've been binging previous ups (I found you on my thread after watching a few DIY cement orb tutes.)
    You, sir, give me life!
    I love that you show the actual process - mistakes (learning opportunities) and all!
    I *need* to see that realness, because it's so easy to become disheartened when trying DIY's and they don't turn out the way one expected, or they're no where near as easy as DIYers make it look (because they've edited the shit out of their tutes.)
    Thank you soooo much for showing the reality of what DIY actually is; a learning and practising process.
    Much love, from Australia xx

      Hahaha! So happy to bring joy to you even with my included mistakes. I suppose I leave them in for all the reasons and yes mainly to keep people going knowing that creativity is imperfect. These projects are supposed to be fun and I try to keep it elevated even when I’m a little burnt out or mess it up. Have a beautiful day!

    • @CADEmade
      @CADEmade  3 месяца назад

      Sorry for the delay. I’m guessing a 500gph pump would suffice. You can’t use a small pump though it should be more than a serenity fountain size. You can adjust flow so bigger is better in this case

    Amazing tutorial again at the perfect time! I was just watching your previous video on concrete spheres so I could create them as a base for my coffee table! Your tutorial is the best out there and I’m happy to say the project is turning out great so far. :) Now I’m off to buy grout to seal the orbs as you did!

    • @CADEmade
      @CADEmade  2 года назад +1

      Wow thank you so much. Using this idea to create a table base is awesome! Best to you in your creative process. The grout was such a serendipitous idea which I am very happy worked as well as it did for sealing the orb and adding permanent pigmented color. There are so many color options with grout as well. I personally preferred the “sanded grout” for the added surface texture, whereas the “unsanded grout” is very smooth to the touch. Take utmost care and have a wonderful weekend!

    How long does this sphere last in the garden in zone 6 Michigan?

    • @CADEmade
      @CADEmade  Год назад +1

      Hello there! Not entirely certain how long it will last but you should get many years out of it outside. I turn off the fountain in the winter so as long as it’s bits saturated with water it won’t crack. The acrylic bonding adhesive is key…. Best of luck creating!

      The grout was essentially just for the color pigment.
