What's most underrated is the fact that he doesn't exaggerate steps with the stepback like Harden (or Curry) will. He doesn't shove defenders off on the snatch back. He doesn't really foul bait for his points. He is just getting buckets. Clean Stepbacks. Quick crossovers into mid range pullups. Pinoy Steps, Euro Steps, poster dunks. His offensive arsenal is complete.
He definitely uses his off arm to push off quite a bit. Sometimes he uses only his shoulder, sometimes his shoulder and elbow, sometimes a straight up push with his hand. You can usually get away with it so why not give yourself the advantage? He definitely foul baits with his pumpfake and then jumps into his defender sometimes. No extremely often, and he gets buckets without doing it to. I was always taught to jump into the defender after pump faking them (he does in several of the highlights).
@@petershen7949 I always hated when the foul was called from the offensive player jumping into the defender. I'm glad that is no longer a rule and ref's generally do a good job letting it go. I think Shai is at catching defenders overplaying it on defense he's no Hezi God but he knows a good bump or subtle push will completely throw them off balance and then he takes advantage. He's a hooper at a high level and fun to watch!
His game is sneaky and smooth. His step backs, his counters, handles he even pushes off ever so slightly enough that he doesn't get offensive fouls, he shoots when you least expect him he bust's a move when you think you got him. Look at his dunks a lot of them happen when you expect him to just lay it in or shoot over. SGA sneaky smooth AF.😂
SGA is 1C talent just behind MJ and Kobe. He reminds me of Kobe (skill-wise) with Jordan's shot selection and efficiency (Jordan wasn't as flashy with the dribble/iso compared to Kobe)
Plays through/above everything...traffic, pressure, floor position. Reminds me of track legend Michael Johnson, fast, extremely sound and smooth... While those around him strain. SGA is on to the next move. I see defenders trying, but SGA always looks like he is playing by himself.
@@dougbrown6952 come on bro, K.I is pure 🏀 and that's fact, now I don't really your point, but you got to understand SGA is a whole different package their game disclose it all 😂
the first clip is beautiful because it shows his mentality and the teams confidence in him. clippers defense thought he would go for a 2 for the tie but he goes for a 3 for the win. shais a straight up dog
He’s game is different for sure but my thing is he do at times takes 3 steps and refs don’t call it. But he’s for sure the best SG right now. No debate either
This is how we played basketball in the 80's. No wasted movement. Put the ball on the floor when it's time to score. But he's in OKC with zero expectations.
In terms of how he handles the ball, his strides and movements, and the shots he takes, he's so much like MJ. *I said what I said. I didn't say he had the same success as MJ, so calm down.*
I don't think he has a deep bag. Simple moves that most NBA players do nowadays. His strength is momentum, playing at his own speed. His ability to change his speed to make up for his lack of burst speed and explosiveness are his strengths. Behind the back, toe drags, extending his arms with the ball.
Ding! Finally someone with eyes. The kid is simply strong. Players fly off his shoulder bump. There was a podcast with nba players and they all said by consensus that once he puts that shoulder into you its over.
His bag is deep in the sense that he can counter everything up until the very last second with footwork and body control, instead of using flashy dribbling moves. His footwork and body control is so good at full speed that he capitalizes on openings that most players simply aren't physically capable of. Him being able to get to his pull up and step back on command makes it almost impossible to stop him because he's literally just reacting. I don't think SGA even knows what he's about to do until he does it.
@@warmbeergamingdude simply strong? You can’t write off all of his counters and ball handling ability as “simply strong”. Like are we talking about the same person? lol

He's got great timing, smooth articulation and precise control of the ball but how is this any different or "unique" than any other good players of his size with similar style? Common step backs, snatch into mid-range, and whipping dunks.
@@riot2136 Thanks i'll check it out man. I might not be seeing all the little shoulder/hip movements, change of directions, accelerate & deceleration that he possesses. But then again, i would also mention that most of the great outliers players have special characteristics, then the next question would be how long can he sustain it? For example T-mac in his prime, i would put him up against any scorer who's ever lived but his injuries got the best of him, also many other What-If players whose career ended early. At first glance I just didnt see any outstanding scoring attributes that he has beyond the greats
Hmm 2:00 was a travel. If he pounded the dribble right when he took that first "right-foot" step, then that would have counted as the gather and therefore be legal. But he had already begun gathering the ball before that right foot planted and subsequently took 3 steps. Refs missed that one.

He’s smooth. Even when dunking on people dominantly, it seems like he doesn’t have to try hard. He’s some kind of savant.
thats how smooth players look, just look at PG he the guy who made the word smooth
Refreshing to see a guard or even a player in general with good post moves. Footwork is impeccable.
Can speed up with a version of Kyrie's ball handling but then can also slow down with a version of Luka's control and pace. Makes defenders guessing.

He has his game stop the nonsense
