    Thanks a ton PJ! Stopped at a garage on a road trip to find the floor full of coolant. Saw it was dripping down the back of the block, but couldn't pin point where until I found your video. Champ!!!

    Thanks a million,I had replaced all 3welch plugs on the rear of the cylinder only to find i still had a leak near the top but thought the cylinder gasket was gone and swept through RUclips until I got to your video where that section was so short yet so helpful I really appreciate your videos!!!

      Hi there, so where was the other leak.?.. Did u fix it?

    • @gerardlecordier4698
      @gerardlecordier4698 2 года назад

      @@pjs-golfmk1-diy Yes I have fixed and found the other leak which was more at the top of the block(just below the carburetor) .
      At the rear there are three size 36 welch plugs and then there are another 4 size 18 (smaller plugs) at the top which I had to replace. Though I felt they had blown as my fan switch wasn't working so the pressure had built up inside and I assume began pushing out da welch plugs.

    Hi PJ, I’ve been having something strange with my MK1. I’m getting excessive water out of the exhaust on startup, but my coolant level seems fine and there is no condensation on the oil cap, so I doubt it is a blown head gasket.

    2:39 seconds into the video where you used a copper pipe and pratley steel Someone told me I can just block that pipe off and close off the area with pratley steel could this be causing my coolant leaking problems I'm having now? I didn't connect it back up with a copper pipe like you did.

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  2 года назад

      It's best to insert a pipe there.. Rather let things operate normally instead of blocking up things. There's not much pressure build up there,.. Just need to get creative with that

    Hi , I've been following your content and it's awesome . Could you maybe advise on something. I just bought a new fan switch by Midas today and installed it in my mk1. Now my fan is going on but it doesn't turn off even when the car is switched off

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  2 года назад

      Thanks sir ,it's a pleasure .Could maybe just be with the connections/ wiring ..just ensure its not touching ,..,..or ,just change that switch and see if it does same thing

      You mean the water bottle?
      Could be head gasket ...let's hope not

      If you stay in cold climate .,it could be moisture on your distributor,coil and leads ...try a bit of Q 20. I have a video on that ..will post a link below..

    hi Mr PJ. How do you set the level of your carburettor float.

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  3 года назад +1

      Don't fiddle there, if you not sure.. I myself never get involved with that big brass screw.. It's like got to be turned in, and then like 2 and half turns out... And see if it improves or helps........ But many people fiddle there and it turns out that that wasn't the problem area at all... Best to give it to a carb specialist, in opinion...

    4:10 The flanges bottom bolt broke off can this bolt be removed? I'm really having a big problem trying to fix this issue because that bolt broke and I cannot put the new flange back on. Please help

      Hi yes it can be removed. Either drill it out.. Or weld a small piece of something onto it and unscrew it

    Hello I have changed my water pump, got another manifold the previous one was leaking but still I have leaks on my water bottle cap and both the cap and water bottle are new, the manifold water pipe and one of the pipes on the water pump are also leaking. Please advise.

      Hi.. When you added fresh coolant did you bleed the system with the heater valve fully opened up. If you did not, you could have an airlock in your cooling system.
