Gerald Green was an Ex-Teammate and Ex-Classmate of mine from Gulf Shores Academy. And the only thing that stunted his growth if this statement is even to be true at all, would be his former coaches and also sports-analyst type-casting him as just a dunker. I do believe that it was Charles Barkley who said something along the lines of Gerald Green being just being a dunk-contest type of player or type of person, but please do not quote me word for word on this thing. And this way of thinking is so unfair and so untrue t00. Because he was so much more than just those things that I just referenced. He could also sh00t his azz off on the court, and especially behind the three point line as well. He could also pass, steal, block, and plus he could even play good man to man defense. He was and still is thee real deal & complete package in B-ball U-all.

Not a bust IMO when you consider he was the 18th pick, the longevity of his career, several double-digit scoring seasons, and the fairly average production of others in that draft. Love the Bugatti analogy. Among several automotive analogies I've heard in your videos.......you must be a car guy as well!

In the Gilbert Arenas podcast episode with Dwight Howard, Gil and Dwight say that you stay the same person you were when you were drafted, as it is difficult to relate with much older teammates and you just hang out with the younger guys. Sometimes it is not the player, it can be who you play for and the situations.
A pro coach should always coach to a players strong points, improve the weak points. Not every NBA player is a star. But if you have guy with a motor, you groom the guy..

  • @georgeford3514

Nah they were rebuilding at that time, but they had pierce who was a legit star and end up winning some games, antoine walker has already been traded but was re-aquired later that year because the celtics are still in the playoff mix, the celtics was torn with rebuilding with young dudes like green, al jefferson, delonte west, tony allen , or making the playoffs, the celtics end up being the 3rd seed in a bad east conference losing to the pacers, ainge isn't as stupid as you think, green was part of their future , but since KG is on the block, the celtics have the pieces for the trade which sounded appealing at that time, al jefferson is already a decent young big and the unlocked potential of green

I feel like Gerald Green would’ve been a much better player if he went to college. He lasted long in the league just off of talent and athleticism. If he was more fundamentally sound he would’ve been scary

Real rap a team like Duke, NC, it seem like most Duke players are very fundamentally sound

I always saw the talent but it seemed like he was held back from a bad reputation for being a ball hog. So he learned to be a good role player.

Defense and passing, he had a ceiling of a potential star, but only his offensive game evolves, still a decent player , liked him when he was a young man in boston and his second run with the team with isaiah thomas led celtics in 2017

Didn't know about Green's finger injury. Green was such an explosive leaper; downright pogo-stick! Some other great leapers (not necessarily great dunkers) I remember were Michael Wilson (Memphis), Jeff Trepagnier (USC), and Stanley "Sticks" Robinson (UConn) who sadly passed away recently RIP.

Gerald Green could have been the next Kobe Bryant but the league wasn't ready for another rag's to rich's NBA Super-Star so they intentionally stunt his growth by sending him on a world tour and that was very shady man. 😒🤔

First of all collage players/ coaches don’t know shit . It’s a lot players that stayed in college and still don’t know how to play . The problem with the draft is that nba teams draft players that have super talent like green but they don’t match the system . That’s the problem with the nba

gerald green looka scared when he play back.when he ia still young. I think.he is afraid he might missed a shot or piased the coach. He.only get his courage.when he play in.houston. Thats we never get to see hia full potential.

Not a bust. Good complimentary player, but just couldn't get in a consistent system that compliments his skillset.

How do you explain Pj Tucker?
Literally only stands on the corner and shoots the 3 lol.

Gerald Green is not a bust… the way he played in Phoenix proves he was worth having on the team & how great he is as a dunker 🏀
