  • In under 5 minutes you can do a 5 gallon bucket of walnuts compared to 8hrs to do 5 gallons by hand.
    It can be set to only exert a specific amount of force distance as to not destroy the meat.
    Works great on any hard nuts: Almonds, Walnuts (English or Black), Pecans, Pistachios, Peanuts, Brazil nuts, Hazelnut, Chestnut, and virtually any other hard shelled nut.

    Are those plans you refer in your presentation available yet? I'd pay $10 for a copy! By the way, the way you explained building it was very clear, as was the photography, without a lot of boring time consuming things that so many other youtubers do. My compliments!!

    Interesting idea . . . my mother has a beautiful pecan tree in her front yard. She has taken to shelling and selling the extras but didn't last year because she's getting on in years (78). So anything I can do to make help her would be great. My family loves those pecans and that beautiful tree. My niece just earned her welding certificate and her dad's a welder too. Between the three of us maybe we can take this on. Will keep you posted.

    Nice. I have a bunch of black walnut trees that drop a ton of walnuts in the fall. I collect them off the yard, but just put them in a big pile in the woods for the squirrels because the nuts are really hard to crack. A lot tougher than store bought walnuts.

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  10 лет назад

      Luckily I don't have to deal with the walnuts and neighbors pile them(english walnuts) up for me and I just have to pick them up. The black walnut can be an evil nemesis but this machine handles them. Removing the husk on those is a bugger though.

    • @tblbaby
      @tblbaby 10 лет назад

      sixtyfiveford I've found just beasting on the husks gets through them in decent time, though they are hard to deal with (black walnuts) you can also run them over with a car to remove them. I had black hands last fall and they lasted weeks lol.

    How well does this crack black walnuts? I want to build a small one that will crack open the nuts without destroying the goodies. I think that two gears running to each other or even three to roll them down in succession. I think you could have a slide adjustment to slide the center gear against the other two having all three turning? I guess there are many ways to build one but making one durable is best of course. Strong teeth on the rollers. This is interesting. I will try one myself to make it the best to crack those hard walnut shells.

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  6 лет назад

      It works great and only smashes down on the nut to a predetermined thickness. You can't run it through with a green/wet husk though.

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  2 года назад

      Yes it will. It essentially just crushes to any preset diameter without smashing the meat. If you have a huge variance in nut sizes you simply run the smaller ones through a set time at a smaller setting.

    Hi Mr Sixtyfiveford, What an amazing video!! I showed this video to my husband and he loves it. Would you build us one, we would if we could but we are both disabled and non-mechanical. A previous co-worker just invited us to come out and pick pecans on his property for the fall, (we will have to rent a picker of course), I would love to have one of your machines as it would take the load off our hands as I have corporal tunnel and arthritis among other health issues as do my husband. Would you please let me know as I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!

      I generally run nuts with dried husks through this same machine. I just open it wide enough to peel the husk and barely crack the shell. Then I close it up and finish cracking the shell in a second pass.

    Oh, wait I have one more ? for u. my car has been sitting for a while and I want to put it back on the road. the gas in it smells like paint thinner. Do I really have to drop the gas tank and empty it to clean or is there a simpler solution u recommend? Thanks!

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  9 лет назад

      shelleyfunny19 If the gas is 5 years or less I wouldn't have an issue just running it. I would fill it with fresh fuel to dilute the old stuff. What kind of car is it?

    • @shelleyfunny19
      @shelleyfunny19 9 лет назад

      sixtyfiveford it is a '96 buick regal sedan. it has been sitting for about 2yrs? I think. the car wouldn't pass smog so I just let it sit and started taking the bus. in your opinion should I work around the gas tank issue and start with getting it started and pass smog, then go to the gas tank if needed? And btw, thanks again for answering my questions!

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  9 лет назад

      The only reason a 1996 car would fail smog is because the "check engine" light is on. This would generally be due to bad O2 sensors, misfire, or similar. Any Autozone will pull the codes and tell you what it is.
      2 yr old gas shouldn't affect anything. Start it up and run it out.

    • @shelleyfunny19
      @shelleyfunny19 9 лет назад

      sixtyfiveford Yes!! That's exactly what Autozone diagnosed years ago! I have a mechanic who is ready to do the work necessary to get it running right. he said the gas has to come out. so I should just get a new battery (it doesn't start) and have him fix the sensors, and tune up? but the gas smells like paint thinner and you recommend that I can just run it out, right? if I run into problems I can check that later? thanks!!! I think the battery is even autozone and maybe under warranty. I will pull battery and get it started, think maybe just a slow charge will start it?
