Appreciate these videos, its a big help. Just inherited a 73/74 westfalia with the same engine and carbs. Thinking about pulling the heads to check everything though. Ill have to check your channel to see if you have a breakdown
What product did you use to clean the crankcase? Very nice indeed, i'm doing the same work wright now!! Loving your calm and thorough explination! 👍 Should be picked up by many more.... 😉🇧🇪
Saludos cordiales.
@@techshebeen did you take the studs out of the engine and use other bolts to mount it? If so, would you happen to have info on the size you used to mount to the yoke?
@@jasonobispo5921 Hey there Jason... to be honest, I can't remember what I did! 😂 Although I think I may have cut some decent quality threaded bar and used a nut and large washers to help spread the weight and not stress the casing.
Just about to launch into this, so finding a non-american voice to guide me is much appreciated. Great vids.
Thanks, Tim! Best of luck with it. The secret is plenty of cups of tea.
Just brilliant at last straight talking relaxed no stress this guy is the funniest and dispels fears of the type 4
Thank you very much for the great comment! Once I've the NSU project wrapped up I'll be back to the VW!
Excellent videos. Very comprehensive.
Thank you, Andy!

Thanks for the message, JP! Also, congratulations on your recent inheritance! Also, I love Space Ghost.
Thank you very much for this video, it helped me a lot. 🙋
That's great to hear, thank you for the message!
Great video. Everything well explained. I like your clean workshop!
Thank you very much! A clean workshop means a dirty mind!
Fantastic work, great video on the t2 !! I getting mentally ready to start my 77 t2 restoration soon
Thanks, Andy! The work never ends with these buses, but they're a pleasure to work on.
Great video. At least the rod tubes come out of the Type 4 without removing head! This job is much harder on earlier engines 🙄
Yes! It's definitely one of the Type 4 engine's party tricks. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

Hi Davy! I primarily use 'elbow grease'! Nah, just some Gunk and a toothbrush works best, I find.
Buen día mi amigo. Nunca abrió el motor? No era necesario? Saludos desde Monterrey, Mexico.

How did you get it so clean? Thanks, Dave
Hey Dave. Thanks for the message. Got it clean exactly as I show in the video....with a toothbrush and some 'Gunk'! 😂
Also some tactical vapour blasting.
Is that a petronix ignition?
Oh yes indeed! Ignitor II.
Is that a specific VW engine holder?
Hey there; no, that's called a 'universal' yoke.
No issues with it yet
