This must have been a fabulous city in its day. We visited years ago (1980) and there looks to be a lot of excavation and restoration since. We were the only ones there and I remember being so impressed especially with the Hippodrome/stadium. Thanks for sharing. I would love to go back.

Yes, I agree this must have been a great city in its day. This city is even not well known within Turkey (e.g. compared to Ephesus) so for me it was a random trip as we were just close by and I was amazed with its beauty. The stadium and theatre are in great shape. The excavation still continues actually and will keep going for a long while. There is a small village for the archeologists who are actively working on the city. Definitely worth visiting this place again. Thanks for your inputs - I love hearing them. You have seen a different Turkey then what it is right now. Thanks and best wishes.
