Such a fun pedal. I got one to use in an RnB band once, as I was trying to emulate keyboard tones.. but wound up selling it after EHX released their "9" series of instrument/machine pedals. An interesting trick with this pedal is to use a Digitech Whammy along side of it and just go crazy. You can use the POG to go down 2 octaves, and then the Whammy to go up 2 octaves (thus restoring your pitch to normal) to get a really digital sounding tone.
hey, just letting you I was in a similar situation with my pog. bought second hand, and I beat it up pretty bad. if you reach out to EHX and let them know. they charged me 25 bucks plus shipping, they replaced the chassis, all the knobs and sliders. and sent me what was effectively a brand new pedal.
Hi Leon, Excellent Video, Brilliant Playing, 3:50 sounded amazing , that mode is so nice, clean or distorted. I have a Micro Pog, the three knob model, which I leant to a mate, I don't think it has that Volume swell type mode, I can't even try it, do you have a Micro Pog (sounds like something you would need a Doctor to remove) if so can it do the Swell?👍👍👍 Take care mate, Melbourne, Australia.
Interesting. When I first opened this video I thought it might be old when I saw the vintage hairstyle of the 70's. Memories of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Bad Co. etc. I remember seeing VHS videos of guitar teacher Curt Mitchell who was a throw back to Mick Box among others. It looks so dated, or out of date as the case may be. Steve Morse held on to the old style for quite a while but eventually came into the 21st century.
@@LeonTodd Thanks Leon, and with Ax8? In particular for the second sound? Because the way Pog2 does the "autoswell" is different, doesn't only swells the first note you play but swells all the single notes you play...I can't reproduce it with Ax8, probably my Ax8 newbie limit 😩
Awsome video man!!! This exact pedal is what I’ve been looking at for a while, but my pedalboard space is limited at the moment. Have you ever had any experience with the micro pog?? Just curious if it’s a waste or a viable option for limited space boards like myself
I use the digitech wammy and I make similar sounds. I was looking at the neck on your strat, those are some deep frets. Is your fretboard scalloped? Anyways great video, you play quite well.
I like the tones you got from it, but how much of it was the amp or other equipment? What is in your guitar signal chain from guitar to speaker? I'd like to know because ... it sounds really good.
Is the heavy distortion came from the pedal? And not from other effects or the ampli? I need it to plays heavy powerchords with octave on the lowest note to made a band only guitar and drums without bass player. Thnx
Any pedal that has to track your signal should always be before dirt, as close to the front as possible. One exception might be light overdrive and obviously compression. Compressors actually improve pedals like the POG in that they allow them to track sooner. Aside from that, they also just sound better before dirt.
hi, can you confirm that when you unplug the power cable the presets remain saved in the pedal's memory? I read that the presets disappear when you turn it on.
@@LeonTodd Well, yes! It seems that some units produced in 2010 presented this problem. There are forums on the web where they talk about it. I would like to buy one (maybe second-hand, considering the price), but first I wanted to make sure of this problem.
What kind of horn? For trumpet or sax, nothing beats a Basic Audio Zippy. It's easily one of my favorite fuzzes ever. You gotta play up higher on the fretboard or use an octave up with it, but it sounds a lot like brass
I used to love the POG 2… but three sliders died, and the power jack has a shakey connection that spikes the amp brutally every time it goes in and out. I took it apart and cleaned all the sliders, waste of time. Now I have a $400 piece of trash. I have pedals that I have had for thirty years that work great… that were cheap. I only had this for five b4 it failed. I will never buy anything from EH again. Overpriced crap.

Which 9 series did you get?
@@LeonTodd Key9. I am a sucker for those vintage Rhodes tones. You may like the Synth9 for Ragdoll/Blade Runner/Van Halen covers stuff. haha
hmm.. i have always dismissed it as a random noise generator of which i have no interest. now i have to rethink it
The temptation is to go crazy with it, but the subtle tones are actually awesome
3:13 thank me later
I have the EHX Pitch Fork and didn't think I needed the POG. Your demo has changed my mind. And, as usual, awesome tones and playing.
Definitely want to get one of these for my guitar and Bass VI. I want all the octaves.
Affordable way to sound like royal blood😌

I used to play POGs as a kid. It was pretty fun.
"Remember Alf? He's back, in pog form!"
I like heavy and light stuff so I want to use this as a sort of tuner so my guitar doesn’t detune if I tune it higher or lower

Take care mate,
Melbourne, Australia.
Don't have a micro pog - I think it's just the pitch section from this though.
this thing is so sick christ I done screwed up going down this rabbit hole.
it's a glorious pedal!
The attack slider just sold me on this over the Pitch Fork+.

Amazing video, allowed me to get a whole lot more than organ-like sounds from my POG2!
Love to see REALLY road-tested pedals. i don't trust guitar players with immaculate and pristine-looking boards... ;))
This one has been stomped!
@@LeonTodd Sure looks like it has, brother!
Now I want to see if I can get close on some of those sounds with the axe3. Thanks Leon!
The quad shift should do the trick

AFAIK the micro just has the octave up/down stuff which is still pretty cool. An Eventide H9 might be a better bet for weird pitch/detune stuff.
Great timing. I finally picked one up myself. Awesome pedal.
Great player 🙏🏾 thanks for video

Anyways great video, you play quite well.
Nice catch! it's a YJM neck, so it's fully scalloped
For the first tone what you played was awesome! What’s was that?
That thing is KILLER!
It has the poly mode of the attack decay
Where is the detune slider on the Leslie sound?
I like the tones you got from it, but how much of it was the amp or other equipment? What is in your guitar signal chain from guitar to speaker? I'd like to know because ... it sounds really good.
The dry tone is my guitar plugged straight into my Axe-Fx III
being a bassist im thinking about using it as a fake 5 string =o
I didn't want to, Don't tell anyone, But I kinda like it! It's fun isn't it!
Thanks and Be Well Leon!I

I think Synyster Gates used this years ago for solos.
Danny Franco do you have any evidence for that? Did he say it in a documentary or something? I’m just curious!
@@ianto3540 yea there's a gear video where his guitar tech is showing his gear and the pog was in there
That last crazy tone would sound great with a fuzz. 🤘
Lots and lots of fuzz
Leon Todd Red witch fuzz god ii. Or a fuzz factory.
What would recommend when playing with amp distortion? plug into fx loop after distortion or from guitar to amp before distortion?
Personal preference for me is before distortion

I need to get a POG. lol

I've had no problem with the presets. That would be pretty stupid if so, you'd have to re-program the presets every time you turn it on

curious do you think there is a way to get this with an Axe-Fx II or III ???
Yep, I did a video on the pitch block a week or two ago and covered POG sounds
What about for vocal purpose?
Haven't tried, but vocal shifting is tricky as the formants can do strange things
@@LeonTodd Thank you very much, Leon !
Used an original POG to prank call people in high school. Worked well, hope this helps.
