Trader Sam's Grog Grotto soft opened tonight, with a slate of specialty drinks and effects to please any tiki bar/Disney fan! Included here are the Nautilus, Uh-Oa and more, as well as a look at most of the food options available. Trader Sam's is an intimate bar that seats about 50 at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

Trader Sams Grog Grotto holds the best memories of Disney for me of any place we've been to other than the magic kingdom....I love the Polynesian resort and is my favorite place to go to while in Orlando.

Yeah so Disney needs to bring back the Adventurer’s Club. Put it at the Poly or AKL heck it might even fit at the new Riviera.
Now that I'm drinking age, I really want to go to Trader Sam's the next time I'm in Disneyland. It seems like a great place to chill during the evening.
i’m waiting to turn 21 before i even consider going to WDW (or disneyland again) because i’m just that eager to check out trader sam’s, and i can’t justify such an expensive trip from australia if i have to miss out on such a fun experience lmao.
Just went there 2 months ago and the waitress and bartender were the same. We enjoyed it but my nautilus drink was $84 and there were no prices on the menu!
OMG! Going in April, what was special about that $84 drink?

The nautilus drink is for 2 people, and without the souvenir cup is $30. With the cup and enough booze for 2, it's $56. The single drinks are around $10-15 without the mug, but most people want it as a souvenir, so add another $10-15+ for the ceramic vessels.
"I've been waiting more than 20 min... Can I just get a beer already?!?!"... kidding aside, it looks like a good time. Disney knows their audience. Great video... Miss the Poly

looks fun! The tiki revival is alive and well, so a stop at Trader Sam's on our next trip is a must!

Hi Jeff & Denise.... I was so bummed that I couldn't be there for the opening, but thanks to your excellent coverage I get to feel almost as if I were there. Just going by what I can see I would say Disney hit a homerun! It looks Great!!!

I went in here. It's really awesome, but I didn't sit and have a drink cause i was with the kiddos. We got Dole whips instead. Going here next time with Hubby only!

It looks pretty small in there. Do they limit how many can go in at a time or does it not usually get too crowded? Wish we had time on our trips to chill in there a bit. Would be good on a day just hanging at the resort.

Brian Salazar It's homage to the ride that used to be at the park.
Faereni I understand the homage, but Trader Sam is an Adventureland character. Even the Polynesian hotel is sort of ties to Adventureland. I guess Grotto can be an ocean thing. Either way it will be worth a visit.
Krakatau special? Sounds like a drink from Louie's from Talespin? The goddess chaos shouldn't it be a god of love?

Thanks for this. I have only ever heard of Trader Sam's. But I must say, the [bartenders'] "acting" is a bit over the top and forced for my taste.

I also felt like the acting was annoying to the point of ridiculous. It should wear off as time goes by. Whats a drink cost, about twenty bucks?
+Tiki Tavi Here are the prices of each Drink: Shrunken Zombie Head - 19.50, Polynesian Pearl - 16.25, The Nautilus is there most expensive Cocktail at 52 Dollars, Uh-OA is the 2nd most expensive at 39.50, HippopotoMai-Tai - 15.00, Krakatoa Punch - 18.25, Castaway Crush - 10.25, Tiki, Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum - 11.50, The Dark & Tropical Stormy is the Cheapest Drink they have at 8 Bucks, Spikey Pineapple - 10.25, Mosquito Mojito - 10.25 and for a Flight Sampler of Rum is 35 Dollars !!!

Some Audio from the Uh-Oa encounter does play during the "Ceremony".

I think most of the people that go to Trader Sam's enjoy the campiness.
Too much yelling for me.
I think I would be annoyed at this as well. The food and drinks look amazing with the decor, but I think I would get a headache fast with how loud it is.
I remember going to whispering canyon and I didn’t know they yelled there and I had to get up and leave. Got a nasty headache from that place. Parents liked it.

This could be good. Great effect, decor, and theming. BUT, the forced "humor" was WAY over the top. Cringe-worthy, not funny at all. More annoying than anything else. I'm glad I saw this, it will save me a trip here. You guys did a good job. TS just isn't my cup of tea.

Shameless rip off of Trader Vic's without a clue about the ambiance. The food looks like crap, sorry to say. Walt Disney should be rolling over in his grave at this production.
