So I am a self taught guitar player and I've had my fair share of hours on the youtubes searching for decent tutorials but this is by far the best structured video with the best instructor. Gave the preview and didn't mess around with too much dialogue but also gave alternate ways to play for different skill sets. I subscribed and will most likely spend the next couple of hours watching your other vids. Keep it up.
Finally! found someone that can take me through the basic "campfire" version all the way to the more complex. Made it so simple. I will be learning this song in no time. Thank you!
This by far is the best guide out there! It's explained really well and it as close as you can get to the original. Had lots of fun learning this, thank you :)
That is a really great lesson. It takes a beginner/intermediate level player like me right through all the stages of putting this classic song together. Thanks and keep up the great work David, you are an excellent teacher!
Hi David, I don't normally leave comments but feel compelled to let you know what an excellent teacher you are, it's much appreciated, please keep it up, cheers, Paul.
i've never felt a need to comment on a youtube video before but this was genuinely so good. broke it down so well and so clearly. thank you from London UK!
Thanks, you're amazing, one of the best teacher in RUclips, really methodical, slow paced, with all needed visual instructions...thank you...coming here after learning hotel California...
I am discovering guitar at age 52 after growing up on and still listening to guitar “greats” like Trent Reznor Martin L Gore and Section 25 and EDM. Lynyrd Skynyrd ELO Beatles and the Eagles were the background music of my childhood and going to the races and fishing with my dad I never really gave them much thought. Now I am discovering “classic rock” as I try to learn guitar and even learning to appreciate the music as I add this genre to my playlist and aspirational list of songs I would love to play someday. This is all to say thank you for this awesome lesson one of the best of any beginner song I have looked at so far. Who knew deciding to play around with Serato DJing for my headphones a few years ago would lead me to Ed King and now your channel.
David you do a wonderful job teaching. I have played on and off my whole life and just getting back into it at 60 years of age. You have been a huge help and thanks to you, my fingers are bleeding again! Yahoo! Best regards and thanks!
I like how you arrange this piece into different phases, so beginners can learn piece by piece and feel accomplished instead of facing the boss right from the start.
David, you’re the best! You give all levels of players a chance to become players at their own level, very simplified but accurat. I’ve played the guitar since I was 9 years old……….will turn 68 next year and just love to watch your educational and inspiring lessons. Keep on! 🙌
Man, you're the bestinstructor that i've ever seen on youtube, i am brazilian and don't know speak english, but teach so well and understand everything. You are great, the best of all. Thank you so much
This guitarist dude is good in his structure of songs. And the thingy i like most about ... He talks less, and when does talk its more towards the structure or chords of the songs. Am self taught and this guitarist speaks clear with LESS accent making learning more productive. Always wanted to learn this classic 70's song and the "TEACHER" has helped my playing of this song while I build on my ability to play. Thank you kind . sir Love from Malaysia
I appreciate you doing this for beginners! But folks please understand it's not completely correct. That first lick is hammer on open A, to B, then, open D, hammer on to E (second fret on these) back to hammer on A, to, B, but what your missing is, finger on G string second fret, wipe off, so your playing an A note (on G string second fret) wipe off to the open G string, that's the whole opening lick. Confusing to describe, but that's how Ed King wrote it and recorded it. It's a hard last two notes to pull off, but with practice, you will see it's 100% correct. NOT trying to take away from this lesson, good for beginners, but I am filming the exact notes in my lesson tonight, should be up on RUclips tonight, my channel is "Dave the guitar guy", I also just give beginner/intermediate lessons. But I can guarantee, I take a ton of time on all my lessons to watch the original artists play the song, so I make sure I get every note correct. I have everything from Pink Floyd, such as "Breathe" to Zac Brown band and everything in between. Thanks again guys! Dave the guitar guy.
I've been playing since age 10. I've taken breaks but always return to best friend (along with my dogs). You have refined the songs I learned all alone by the radio as a kid on my old beater. What a revelation it has been. Joyful! I am a 30 year high school computer teacher and I want you to know how incredible of a teacher you are. So much respect for you in every way. I hope you receive the support you need to continue. Never underestimate your value in this often dark world. Music is ultimate gift to humanity. Rock on. Forever, your student, Mrs. B.
Thank you for this great lesson. I usually rush into it until I find that it sounds like the original, instead of taking my time, and going further step by step. Your lessons help me a lot with that.
Man! where have you been hiding all this time!! I stopped playing the guitar for a while and you bring me back the joy of playing the guitar, you are the most complete guitar teaching guy I have ever seen Thanks a lot, you have a new follower
I am self taught also and you boosted my confidence because you played exactly how I have been playing but I use a bit more hammer instead throughout the song. thank you again Davis
Most excellent ~ Thank You, ..great instruction bringing song from my youth , on guitar, to a whole new level. Love the Music Notes sheets (have several) ✌️👍👌
Excellent lesson from a master instructor! Thank you for putting so much thought and effort into creating such a well structured lesson. I can't thank you enough!
Just found your lessons by chance, and I'm so glad I did. Very well explained, easy to follow, and no cutting out the tricky bits that make the song what it is. Thanks for the upload. Subscribed 😊
What a great lesson. I've been able to pick this up really quickly.. It's broken down in to simple chunks which makes it easier to understand. Thank you.
Hey man really enjoyed the tutorial! I really appreciate the structure of the vids on your channel, especially the on-screen tabs and the way you break down each segment of the riffs. Your channel is certainly among the best! Keep up the good work :)
This helped refresh my memory on how to play it, thanks a bunch! I recentyl started playing again and got a new acoustic to go with my les pau I've had for a year, and I recently remembered this song and dlooked up how to play and found you.
Oh wow, this is like several lessons and exercises in one! I'm so glad I was struggling with that hammer on section in the intro of this song from other people's videos or else I wouldn't be subscribed to this amazing channel right now!
Thank you for your videos, I started trying to play about a week ago and I'm still learning and trying to remember the basic chords and your videos are very helpful and easy to play along with. Thank you again keep up the great videos !
