I run my first marathon last Sunday, finished in 3:19:55, 5s faster than my plan. Thanks to that 5s, Now I got to tell everyone I am a 319 marathoner not 320🎉
Congratulations on finishing! Great perspective on your finish and really enjoyed this recap. Got me motivated for my upcoming marathon in Indianapolis next week.
Congrats, I also run the Chicago marathon this year. From what you tell looks like you went to fast in the first half. Next to that the ch, and sodium intake was low compared to the effort., These two could lead to the cramps. By the way in happened to me as well, but on. A later stage, around 21-22 miles.
Um... you need to do some more research re the side affects of hitting the wall because cramping is very much all about hitting the wall aka a lack of volume and regular long runs. Just saying.
But how can you make that assertion without an insight on what my training volume leading up to the race was like. Would it change your mind that during the prep I have hit multiple miles longer than a marathon? Hit a wall due to fatigue and just physically not being able to move is different from cramping. When you cramp it is often related to the concept of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance (which I dropped the ball on). The wall is a peripheral fatigue of neurological origin as a cause for the appearance of cramps or inability for you maintain given exercise at high intensity. Don’t confuse the two.
Subscribed, great job, I want to see the redemption story!
Man I am hyped for the redemption. Redemption tour has already started

Great race video! Mile 17 got me this time around! Stopped for the bathroom, got sick, and finally got back out there. What's next???
