That may have been a legit suicide attempt by Darth Vader; it could have been that he sensed the love between the two of them, knew he had to kill them, and then tried to drop the place on himself in the process. The Dark Side doesn’t give its own up easily though.
The funny thing is, nowhere in this comic is it clear that Tarkin loved his son; only that Palpatine and Vader thought he did. That's why TV Tropes still considers Tarkin a Complete Monster when having a loved one would normally disqualify him.
@@regularguy2807 It actually explains why he was so cruel toward the rebels in episode 4. All he has left is hatred for the rebel scum that murdered his son.
Tarkin's son was the only thing that kept his humanity intact. But like with Vader, Palpatine took that from him to turn him into a cold blooded killer.

The light sides will leave you to die while the dark side saves your life and keeps you alive, that keeps happening mainly to Vader bit the dark side is the way to live.
Ya know... as much as I love Vader... there’s a point (at least for me) where someone does so much depraved and messed up shit to where I can’t feel sorry for them. This is like Stalin levels of “deserves to die in the most painful way.” No amount of sad backstory can make up for that.
While i somewhat agree please keep in mind that some of this legends stuff is just silly because it's so focused on being dark, gruesome, vile and everything that it hurts the plot, the characters and the overall immersion, at least for me. I really dislike stories like the one from the video because i feel like some frustrated kid wrote them that got mistreated in elementary school and never managed to deal with his self-pity appropriately, and i can't take them seriously.
@@MournfulDust Depends on the comics not every legend material is dark and gruesome but when it comes to vader... Ya that tends to happen did you forget he killed children in the prequels my dude vader is a killing machine that is something they manage to hit the nail with.

It is incredibly annoying how in every video you go “in this video, i will explain...” and go on to just reiterate the title and/or pretty much exactly what you had JUST said. That level of redundancy and amateurish writing is just...elementary school-tier!

jacob robison I don’t know if it was one of this guys or someone else’s, but there was one video where part way through, he literally made the same 3 statements 3 times in a row, just worded slightly differently. And sorry, but by middle school English you’re taught pretty adamantly to never start an essay by flat out saying “in this essay i am going to [blank]. You find an actually creative way to introduce the essay to the audience to avoid boring them to absolute sleep right off the bat! And it’s especially pointless in RUclips video format. The title is right there and we clicked on it. We know what you intend to convey with this video, you do not need to repeatedly tell us, I can only assume out of a hopeless lack of writing skills or simply to help pad out the video’s length and artificially stretch out watch time.
It worked. "Darth Vader and the ghost prison" comic shows that over the following years, Emperor's way of running things had resulted such excessive casualties that they had to build giant crematorium on coruscant to burn all the bodies sent back from the fronts all over the galaxy. And this was before Rebellion had taken root. When Tarkin was confronted by this by headmaster of Coruscant's imperial officer academy and told that his command alone got lot of cadets killed, Tarkin basically responded that he doesn't give a bantha's ass.
6:17 I disagree, I don't think she underestimated the light within him but used the WORST way possible to bring out the light. Thinking of Padme might seem light at first, but to Vader specifically, it brought him the MOST feelings of pain and anguish that he ever could feel. Thinking of her only brings him pain after what happened, what he blamed himself for. She shouldn't have used her to bring the light out of him, it was never going to work. Only one of Padme's children could bring her up and not totally destroy Vader's mentality, but even them bringing her up would likely not be a step for him towards the light, unless brought up in a very specific way. Never the less, AMAZING video my friend! Thank you for the great Authentic Star Wars content like that of the Legends:)
Honestly, the moments when Vader had visions of Padmé in the awesome Legends comic broken down in this video get to me every single time. What happened to Anakin Skywalker was truly such a sad and terrible thing, and I find it rather cruel that both Palpatine and Vader plotted to kill Tarkin's son. But Sidious is Sidious and Vader wasn't redeemed yet so what do you expect lol! :)
I know what you mean. This is why I am waiting with such anticipation to see what happens in the final issue of the Vader comic next week. I am expecting something equally as tragic as seen in these Legends comics.

Are there any other canon comics or is it just the Vader ones? Because that's all I ever see on youtube regarding new comics, I really want to start reading the legends material first though, also still want the rest of the legends books, there's sooo many, I have about half of them which is about 60 or so and only read half of those because I read them in chronological order and I am missing some of those.
As raw and entertaining as this is, it's really over the top imo Vader gets ambushed ALOT by a person who has no idea he's being hunted because the plot to kill him was concieved DURING a rescue operation to save him which he also didn't know or care about because HE had already betrayed them first which they didn't know about until after they betray him... And this twisted knot of seemingly petty squabble somehow produces a situation capable of unmasking, restraining and almost killing the all powerful Darth Vader whom can't complete the mission without comitting near suicide to get at a non-force user that's in the same room as him? And all it took for Vader to be pushed this far was for one of his admirals to find a hot chick he wants to get with... It's well told though...

Well damn that explains a lot as to why Tarkin in his doctrine and conversations with sidious never even flinched. As Alderran was destroyed or as the empire enacted his doctrine with extreme prejudice. In the end he resolved on his path with Sidious and Vader. He was the perfect man for it and only his son stood in his way from truly embracing the empire.
When I read the title I was wondering if I missed something, since I read the Tarkin novel and theres no word about a son there. Well this is legends ^^
This was also the first time of hearing that Tarkin had a son, I also read Tarkin and it was really good one of 3 canon books I liked actually, still need to read Thrawn Alliances, I haven't read much of the Imperial era in legends though because I'm missing a bunch of them, I don't even have the original trilogy books, I only ever found them in one book and I want them separately so I can put them in the right place on my book shelf.
He looks like shit. His mouth vent is ridiculously oversized. The rest of the art looks good, but Vader looks like a teen drawing seriously - no sense of proper scale.

@@hosmerhomeboy yup he was having it off with tk427 the storm trooper who's armour Luke wore on the 1st death star! tbh I don't mind any character being gay I was annoyed that a character that I thought was a celibate army officer archetype and a role model for celibate men was taken away from a group that basically has no role models in modern media (ecpt for the emperor) I have since found out that he wasn't celibate and had a son. tho ofcourse being celibate don't mean a person has tobe a virgin it just means they no longer bother with the opposite sex.

All the old lore, and even much history is being over written with a multicultural/pansexual brush, and it's blatant and obvious. I would totally not mind a new character that was gay, but just writing it in there for existing characters, or simply replacing them with women, is annoying to me. I tried reading the books, and had to throw away chuck wendigs piles of trash. I am done with all this revisionism.

The girls visions only drove him to extreme guilt for killing Padme (apparently in the vision Padme tells Vader she forgives him) basically he was overwhelmed by guilt and tries to bring the whole building down to commit suicide
I don't understand this happened right after order 66 wouldn't it seem like Vader would have thought for a moment and thought "well the emperor is trying to get me to Stage Tarlins son's death and he could have done the same thing with Padme and told me that I killed her in my anger?" In other words Vader used the force to kill tarkin's son and Stage it to look like the rebels did it in the sad story the next day that the rebels killed Tarkins son and therefore the rebels must be stopped at all costs even if that involves genocide of Millions if not billions of people. Wouldn't have it occurred to Vader at this point that Palpatine could have used Sith Alchemy to kill Pademe through the force claiming that he killed her in his anger by accident? It seems like at that point Vader wouldn't get would have gotten together with Tarkin to get revenge on Palpatine and then both of them to overthrow him?

Lost Command is definitely a top notch story that is always worth a read. Especially how it makes Vader a truly tragic figure and more human to the reader.
Indeed, it does, also i cant help but feel sad by the deaths of the Troopers of the 501st, and Commander Voca, the way the died at the end, betrayed, was tragic. Not gonna lie, after that i was cheering on Vader when he killed Shale.

tbh I don't mind any character being gay I was annoyed that a character that I thought was a celibate army officer archetype and a role model for celibate men was taken away from a group that basically has no role models in modern media (ecpt for the emperor)
I have since found out that he wasn't celibate and had a son. tho ofcourse being celibate don't mean a person has tobe a virgin it just means they no longer bother with the opposite sex.

All the old lore, and even much history is being over written with a multicultural/pansexual brush, and it's blatant and obvious. I would totally not mind a new character that was gay, but just writing it in there for existing characters, or simply replacing them with women, is annoying to me. I tried reading the books, and had to throw away chuck wendigs piles of trash. I am done with all this revisionism.

the glowing orange eyes being sith eyes, I thought that was his trait since becoming vader

The girls visions only drove him to extreme guilt for killing Padme (apparently in the vision Padme tells Vader she forgives him) basically he was overwhelmed by guilt and tries to bring the whole building down to commit suicide

I don't understand this happened right after order 66 wouldn't it seem like Vader would have thought for a moment and thought "well the emperor is trying to get me to Stage Tarlins son's death and he could have done the same thing with Padme and told me that I killed her in my anger?" In other words Vader used the force to kill tarkin's son and Stage it to look like the rebels did it in the sad story the next day that the rebels killed Tarkins son and therefore the rebels must be stopped at all costs even if that involves genocide of Millions if not billions of people. Wouldn't have it occurred to Vader at this point that Palpatine could have used Sith Alchemy to kill Pademe through the force claiming that he killed her in his anger by accident? It seems like at that point Vader wouldn't get would have gotten together with Tarkin to get revenge on Palpatine and then both of them to overthrow him?

Lost Command is definitely a top notch story that is always worth a read. Especially how it makes Vader a truly tragic figure and more human to the reader.
Indeed, it does, also i cant help but feel sad by the deaths of the Troopers of the 501st, and Commander Voca, the way the died at the end, betrayed, was tragic. Not gonna lie, after that i was cheering on Vader when he killed Shale.
