Yep! I was taught to trust in God's mercy, but not presume God's mercy. An friend of mine gets upset when I won't declare that I'm going to heaven. I hope to, to be sure, but at the end of the day, that is God's decision. So, I pray for unity with and understanding of our God

Loosing the race on the home stretch is my greatest fear, as I get so weary. That's why I love listening to you, Fr. Mark! Regarding music in heaven, I believe there are violins. Years ago after my father died, I waa praying for him a great deal, quite concerned for some reason. After about 9 months, I woke up one morning, feeling his presence as though he was happy and saying goodbye, and I heard the most incredibly beautiful violin music that had to be heavenly as I never heard anything close to it on earth. And that sea of glass, I can't prove it, but my heart believes that floor of heaven came down to meet with us at the closing mass at the national eucharistic congress in Indiana last summer. Jesus is here with us today, tomorrow and forever. Praise be to God, our Lord Jesus Christ.

When one studies music theory, it's not so hard to pick up an instrument and learn the technique, even if only because one's ear has become attenuated to the natural flow of a cadence. The point is, I play guitar and piano, and I have studied lots of theory - eh, as it turns out, the 'harp' is in one's heart... I know bc I picked one up once, and it wasn't hard to figure it out...

Father, I used to refine Gold. When it reaches its melting temp, one can almost see through the gold as if it were translucent. The surface is perfectly calm while one can see the heat within as it were fire.

I had a friend that had terminal cancer and opted to take medicine to end his life. I felt he fell right before the finish line. I pray he is at peace but was disappointed in his decision to end the race early But then again whom am I to judge I wasn’t suffering like him.

Salvation is the work of God and not that of man trying to justify himself by his own works of so-called sanctification. Salvation was to come through the death of an innocent and perfect representative, and Christ alone was the perfect lamb, slain for those who believe that His sacrifice was sufficient to redeem them. Those who seek to justify themselves before God by multiple works ex: (going to mass, taking the eucharist, confessing to priests and so on...) believe in themselves and not in salvation through Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Hmmm....never thought of goung to mass, etc., as justifying myself. Just honoring God as he said, out of love for God. For yes, truly Jesus is our salvation. However, if we love and wish to be one with God, it does benefit us to fight temptation, and receiving the sacraments assists us in that.

After about 9 months, I woke up one morning, feeling his presence as though he was happy and saying goodbye, and I heard the most incredibly beautiful violin music that had to be heavenly as I never heard anything close to it on earth. And that sea of glass, I can't prove it, but my heart believes that floor of heaven came down to meet with us at the closing mass at the national eucharistic congress in Indiana last summer. Jesus is here with us today, tomorrow and forever. Praise be to God, our Lord Jesus Christ.

When one studies music theory, it's not so hard to pick up an instrument and learn the technique, even if only because one's ear has become attenuated to the natural flow of a cadence. The point is, I play guitar and piano, and I have studied lots of theory - eh, as it turns out, the 'harp' is in one's heart... I know bc I picked one up once, and it wasn't hard to figure it out...
Saint Francis of Assisi once said not to place so much emphasis on the sound as the words ... If one can't play an instrument, one way to think of that is to SING... One's voice is the closest thing one has to a natural instrument, as well as a prayer... And, if you can't sing well, I am not sure it matters so much... The idea is to pray...

Lots of young folks here do play the harp. Two play at our fund raiser every yrar.
I had a friend that had terminal cancer and opted to take medicine to end his life. I felt he fell right before the finish line. I pray he is at peace but was disappointed in his decision to end the race early But then again whom am I to judge I wasn’t suffering like him.

Salvation is the work of God and not that of man trying to justify himself by his own works of so-called sanctification. Salvation was to come through the death of an innocent and perfect representative, and Christ alone was the perfect lamb, slain for those who believe that His sacrifice was sufficient to redeem them. Those who seek to justify themselves before God by multiple works ex: (going to mass, taking the eucharist, confessing to priests and so on...) believe in themselves and not in salvation through Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Hmmm....never thought of goung to mass, etc., as justifying myself. Just honoring God as he said, out of love for God. For yes, truly Jesus is our salvation. However, if we love and wish to be one with God, it does benefit us to fight temptation, and receiving the sacraments assists us in that.
