  • What is usually the most festive time of the year in Thimphu turned into an isolated spectacle left to be appreciated only through live TV. Sacred mask dance performances commence with wide open spaces on the empty courtyard inside the fortress and the usually lively Atsaras seem lost without their audience.
The Thimphu Drubchhen is a ceremonial practice that takes place over 15 days, to cultivate blessings of the deity Pelden Lhamo. The 3 day Domchen is followed by the THimphu Tshechu, that marks the auspicious day of Guru Rinpochhe.
Stay tuned for an exclusive on the meaning of this sacred festival by Yeewong Bhutan in collaboration with the central monastic Body.
