If it was at or near peak intensity when Angela passed by Catanduenas Island than it couldn't have been much more than 160mph at that point as a radar site recorded wind gusts of 160mph in the eyewall along with a pressure of 943mb. When Daet got the eye of Angela it recorded a gust of 155mph and a pressure of 926mb which hints at the storm being a marginal C4 (perhaps C3) on the weakening trend at that point, but how fast was that trend? For context it took Katrina 17 Hours and an EWRC to fall from her 175mph peak to a landfall of 125mph and during that time her pressure rose from 902mb to 920mb. Whilst Angela weakened, there's little to indicate that she endured a total collapse in a significantly greater manner so it may be a case where the JMA's pressure analysis is actually more reasonable than the JTWC whom usually way overcook cyclone pressures anyway. The JTWC have Angela at 180mph which may be possible but I unofficially have Angela at 175mph and a pressure around the 905-910 mark at peak purely because I find little hard evidence to see it being actually stronger than something like Joan (1970) which we know was 175mph and Angela certainly was never stronger than Haiyan.

USNS Wilkes departed Pusan by orders of pacific command , there went the seven days in Pusan we thought were getting, so we anchor within harbor lights till further notice, 0800 orders to run for safe harbor of Sasibo ( Navy Base )Japan, by noon we were batteling for our lives, when the ol Man turned us into the the swells we rolled three times the third time we lost our low sea suction to the main engines, temps got to the point where the ship would shut itself down, me and another oiler were filling the mains port and stbd exp tks to cool but still we went far beyond the limits for operational safety, we lost everything on deck mooring lines were wrapped around the stack the house was flipped and so called intelligence guys were freaked out and so were almost all the crew, Typhoon Alley just caught us like a sitting duck good thing the Chief and the 1st and 2nd were busy tracing out the lines to get wtr to the main serc primed from the aux pmps from the Gens, we hit pot holes and free spinned rain and seas 40-60 ft. swells 120 knott winds we made the eye and back into Fayes wrath and by Gods mercy we made it. Sailors die every day at sea and some days last a lifetime that we never forget many of the people were realy jacked upafter that, Dyn marine was scrapping guys of the street to crew that ship so life in sailortown was rocked I had the best days on that ship otherwise cause they wouldent fire me believe it or not ..those were the drinking days.. but I did my job hung over or not, there were bad apples that did get sent home but going to sea is not for everyone thats for sure, af anyone know about that ship or did time on it ..old schooleres...Oh yeah the fuse the the ABS missed was the vary fuse that prevented the main engines from shutting down, Thank you ABS for passing that little thimg that kept us alive. 1995 had a very terrifying Pacific Typhoon Season. Had Angela made landfall at its peak, it could’ve been as destructive and deadly as Haiyan.

For our customs itnis very common and back then those names are mostly nicknames
It is not that hard for the standard back in the days and it is very common since spanish/local names were more common back then than today
